I used to have those! My whole life. Finally had a doctor take me seriously, and got diagnosed with sick sinus syndrome at 36. Turns out, my heart was fairly consistently beating under 40 beats per minute, or stopping altogether for on average ten seconds, but up to a minute and a half. They put in a loop recorder, and in one year, my heart stopped over 7,400 times. Finally got a pacemaker in 2022, doctor said I should have gotten it as a kid, and I was lucky I lived this long without it.
My friend has a resting heart rate that low and she faints constantly, yet she absolutely refuses to see a doctor about it even tho we have free healthcare! I keep telling her, girl, one day you'll just die if you don't get help! She just won't listen and keeps saying "it's not that bad, I've always had that. I just have to lay down"
Both my daughter and son have done this. My daughter was extremely ill with an undiagnosed kidney infection and my son was suffering from heat exhaustion. Luckily, both of them were in medical facilities when they had the seizures. No recurrences for either, thank heavens!
@@FragmentsOfASimpleLifeASMR I’m really sorry for your loss. My bro passed away too (not from medical issue) but it’s still the worst. ❤ TY for spreading awareness. Take good care.
This! And if you're wondering why someone might be trying to record one, its often good to get a recording of it happening for medical purposes. Not only to show your doctors, but as a form of timing. It can also be useful to check to see if you got a head smack or anything. So if you see someone has decided to share these vulnerable moments, its likely not because they want attention. Its because they want to bring awareness, and they most likely had the video for other purposes.
I was gonna comment how nice it is to have cameras handy these days cause we can quickly react and catch moments like these. Wish I could tap a recorder to my brain and let the doctors feel my pain tho😢
@@___hey_jooon The purpose of using the video for medical purposes doesn't change just because you post it. Also did you miss the last part of their comment where they said that posting it could have the purpose of spreading awareness?
@@___hey_jooon not really it can help for loads of reasons. 1. Teach the general public that it's not a seizure (like it's being used here) 2. Help medical students learn by seeing it, not just reading about it (you don't come across everything in placement) 3. Helps other also experiencing is feel less alone and learn how others cope. 4. People who might be experiencing something similar might see it and recognise their symptoms and bring it up with their Dr. (This is how I was diagnosed with a rare condition. Drs hadn't thought of it until I brought it up. I was tested and diagnosed.)
What a relief! Once, after getting out of a hot bath, I opened my eyes with my face against the floor, and I was aware of mild jerking of my neck and head. I was spooked, and my whole life I've wondered if I'd had a seizure
With a gran mal seizures you wouldn't be jerking when you wake up after but you would be very groggy and tired so there's another confirmation you didn't have a seizure but if you are still unsure you can talk to your doctor to be sure
That happened to one of my family members! She had to be admitted to a hospital because of amnesia afterward. She couldnt remember any of us, and apparently extreme temperature changes can do that. Glad you’re alright, that must’ve been terrifying!!
@@adristrydom5154 yes my daughter has this as well since childhood. Strangely enough, her neurologist told us, and she experienced her worse episodes when she was in the shower.
Heat makes your blood vessels dilate (get bigger) which makes your blood pressure drop. It's also why your feet can got red when your hot (your blood pools in your feet) and blue/purple when you're cold (blood vessels shrink and there's less in your extremeties). It would also happen going from sitting to standing in the bath with the dilated blood vessels.
Happened to me once when I was younger and getting blood work done. Nowadays, I ask to get my blood taken while lying down, instead of sitting up. Haven't fainted yet!
Not everyone can donate blood due to this. But it could also just be that you weren't properly hydrated or nourished enough. However do bring it up to your doctor if you see one regularly.
Yes, and so many people are faking POTS, now. They look for seizures, don’t see anything, label it PNES and move on. The malingering patient is happy that they have a diagnonsense. The patient who really needs a full neurological workup is still struggling without knowing but, the diagnosis comes with much the same precautions and usually a referral to a neurologist to find out what’s going on. It’s just not always possible to diagnose everything in one ER visit. POTS is one of those. That’s why it’s best to always follow up with your primary care physician and your referrals to specialty professionals. As for the malingering people they’re making it so hard on everybody else who is actually suffering, they also drive up costs for care and take up valuable resources. They need to get off tiktok and get mental health care.
They did the same thing to me and now I can’t get the PNES off my medical record because I would have to go back to the original doctor to get it removed. Can’t do that since my husband and her got in a fight. My heart doctor diagnosed me with POTS 5 months later and basically told me other doctor is an idiot.
And lots of people think that fainting happens in an instant, but that's not the case (unless you get hit in the head, or stand up too quickly). Most of the time, you can feel it coming. The first time you might try to push through the uncomfortable sensations and end up passed out on the floor, but if you listen to your body you can actually settle down on the floor or couch and wait for it to happen so you'll be less hurt in the process. If there's no couch or bed available, I suggest having at least two sides of your body against a hard surface, like a wall corner, so there's less chances of you slipping (tilt your body towards the wall or cabinets instead of sitting straight). Of course if there's convulsing involved like in her case your body might still end up slipping and on the floor, but it's still better than falling if you were standing up.
I have mild faints if I lay down for too long then get up too fast. The dangerous part is it doesn't happen every time, and I feel fine for 1-3 seconds beforehand. Then I have about a second while my vision greys out before it goes black which luckily has been long enough so far. Managed to get across a room and half-way up a flight of stairs before it hit...had just enough time to go back down and lay myself at the bottom.
Yep when I feel dark in my eyes and feeling bad ill sit on the floor immediately and after ist over ill wash my face with cold water till I'm fully alright again
I used to faint like this (and I’m sure I have to potential to do it again I just haven’t) and my doctors tried to diagnose me with epilepsy, but they weren’t caused by the normal causes of epilepsy. They prescribed me epilepsy medication and it didn’t help. Never did get a proper diagnosis for them, I just learned the triggers and avoided them. Had a few slip ups but very few and far between
@@ariadne0w1if you're like me that sounds like orthostatic hypotension. With OH your body can't always regulate its blood pressure properly when you change positions, especially if you do it fast. Drinking plenty of water, eating plenty of salt, getting up slowly, moving your arms and legs to increase blood flow before standing, and wearing full-leg-length compression stockings helps me so much. You can get juzo brand compression stockings for like $70 I think. Of course I'm not diagnosing you, and compression stockings could be dangerous if your blood pressure is normal. I'm just spreading my knowledge and experience in case it's relevant to you or anyone reading this. Definitely talk to a doctor. I don't recommend just dealing with/ignoring it, because low blood pressure can have long term effects, like increased chance of alzheimers. Stay safe!
@@pocketsoup8338 Told my doctor and she basically said ehhh sounds fine just maybe don't sit up so fast and lmk if it gets worse. It is OH but not chronic, just situational due to sudden change in posture and probably some mild dehydration and low blood sugar. Thanks for the advice, I will look into that and think about compression stockings if it gets worse.
It happened with me. Few months ago, I got unconscious in my school. I was shaking badly. It was because I had low blood pressure and I overworked myself and did not eat properly. Few minutes later I was normal again but I had a headache all day and was super tired. My request to you is that take care of yourself properly. I couldn't go to school for 1 week. Same thing also happened with my bff. She fainted because of the same reason as mine. Be healthy ❤. Don't overwork yourself. Eat properly. ❤
I have anemia and when I was a kid I use to faint like on a daily, as soon as I felt it coming I would get down on my hands and knees and fight it so it looked like I was aggressively shaking. Never lasted more then a minute. No clue why I stopped fainting years ago but you gotta count your blessings right!
Had a patient scare the crap out of me when she passed out & was jerking like a seizure. Had never had a patient have that type of reaction with passing out prior to that.
How can you be in the medical field and not expect something like that to happen? Y’all should be prepared for any kind of potential reaction. Especially because a lot of people faint during blood draws.
This is actually important to know about because this can happen during cardiac arrest and be mistaken for signs of life. Its always important to confirm a pulse and breathing if you see convulsions.
I fell unconscious on the 4th of July. I couldn't remember any of it and had trouble coming back for hours and hours, slowly after that. I was told my whole body stiffened up, then I fell unconscious. Unfortunately for me I was heading into the kitchen this happened and broke my own fuckin nose and bled a puddle out and they said I was twitching and called 911. EMT's came and said they thought I had a seizure and wanted me to come to the hospital. I refused. So now I'm having to see a cardiologist for tests, a neurologist etc. Now my bipolar brain is like would've been simpler to go with the EMT's 😒🙄😅 I still dk wtf happened. This happened to me after my boyfriend squeezed me to crack my back. It was sudden so my doctor had me wear a heart monitor for 3 days and that said I was fine so I think he just squeezed me that hard??? Still a little freaked about it.
@@DebraBakerls most likely a blood pressure drop, but get that checked out again. Pay attention to how you feel when you go from laying to standing up.
Noooo there is!! Just because it's not related to neuroactivity it doesn't mean you should treat it carelessly. Your brain can only last without oxygen/blood for MINUTES!! If it's happening frequently please seek medical help.
This is actually super helpful because it happened to me and was quite scary - I am on the journey of trying to figure out what is wrong with me, and the doctors refuse to call back it seems 🙄
dont know if you got your health worked out yet, if not have you been checked for p.o.t.s? i feel like this is a common symptom. id do a quick google and see if the symptoms fit. if they do then bring it up with your doc. if they dont look into it or continue to give you a hard time, id find a new doctor asap.

omg im so glad someone is educating people on this because I constantly pass out and start convulsing, but I'm not having a seizure. there's a HUGE difference and thank you for educating on this matter!
I have these shakes when i faint and its super scary to experience for the first time!! Especially when you dont pass out all the way, so you're lucid while you're completely unable to control your body
This happened to me as i was walking through my hall, i leaned against a wall to try and not fall over all while having these strange spasms occurring for a few seconds
Man i have a scary but embarrasing story. I went to the toilet to pee, while peeing i fainted and i peed everywhere… doc said i fainted for sitting too long on a chair and rushing to the toilet made my blood flow back to my legs which caused me fainting. Make sure not to sit for too long people 😊
I also had a similar situation minus the mess😅 got up late at night and booked it to the bathroom but when I got to the bedroom door, passed out while holding the handle and fell back woke up convulsing😳
this happened to me once when I passed out at school. we were doing cpr training/first aid, and i even though my eyes were closed i fainted when the video we were watching was talking about amputation. when i woke up on the floor, the fire fighters teaching the unit (who were AMAZING btw) asked if i had ever had a seizure before which made me super confused since I had only thought i fainted, and had no prior experience with seizures. i only figured out later that my entire class witnessed me slump back in my chair, roll my eyes back, and begin to “seize” when i fainted. a girl i was friends with said it was terrifying. i ended up being completely fine, but that memory still haunts me!
Thank you. This few second video of yours gave me more answers about my mom than the multiple minutes ive spent with her dr. Its a scary thing to see and to be brushed off and not have a simple explanation makes it worse.
This is what my mom does. We've seen a couple drs but dont get any real answers. Ive just helped her theough them and to tey to avoid them. Thank you for caring enough to give us medical knowledge.
I gotta say, fainting is REALLY weird. I’ve only ever fainted twice in my life, and both were back to back with my mom and my poor poor grandma who decided to drop in for a visit scared to death (I was having a severe allergy attack) Like one minute you’re fine and then you blink and you’re on the floor and your brain is trying to comprehend what just happened and you suddenly can’t understand the language you grew up with for a good couple seconds and have no nod to whatever was said
I’ve fainted a ton, and it’s always weird, although you get kinda used to it. The worst was that I used to faint every time I went from a hot tub to a pool… and you don’t want to faint in a pool 😂 Now I have to put on my tachycardia monitor before I go in a hot tub and then I have to wait and slowly get in the pool after.
I have that problem too. I started getting them after I had mono (3rd grade, 9 years old). But after so long we finally figured it out. We couldn’t tell what it was because all I had was stories not many people ever saw this happen except once when I was getting around to go to a party I went to grab the doorway to catch myself before I fell hard. But I didn’t and it freaked my parents and family out. I thought it was normal. I couldn’t understand why they were so freaked out and rushed me into the E.R I spent a lot of time in and out of children’s mercy. We thought it was POTS or seizures. But after so much blood work and so many doctors at the age of 16 we figured it out. I’m now 18 and have a better way of getting around it. Growing up with it I learned out to deal with it. But I’m on medication now.
Thank you!! I’ve passed out from low bp quite a few times and several of them involved convulsing. My doctors knew it wasn’t epilepsy but were stumped beyond that. It’s good to hear this isn’t that odd of an issue.
Looks like she knew it was coming, which is why she was recording. So many women seem to have POTS now, I'm wondering what is going on or if there is finally just a name for it.
I'm SO happy to finally know what this is!!! I've had this happen to me before, I was so scared that it was a seizure and no one, not even my mom who does a lot of work involving medical care, ever explained it to me; Which resulted in the memory really scaring me and it caused me a lot of anxiety. I used to suffer VERY badly with fainting spells due to not drinking enough water, so I stressed a lot about why I was shaking a lot of the time when I nearly fainted, and the one time I was told that I was shaking after I fainted. It really relieves me to finally understand what happened, because it has been at least 3-4 years. I feel so bad watching the girl in the video though. I've had fainting and dizzy spells for a good portion of my life, so I'd say I'm pretty experienced when it comes to reacting to sudden dizziness. ALWAYS SIT DOWN! If you're fearing the worst, lean into a corner, or simple lay down. Laying down is the best option when you get dizzy because it will prevent any injuries from falling. Please be safe, drink lots of water.
Oh my GOD I've never known the name for this! I have had convulsive faints in the past and didn't know why! It's only happened when I am experiencing extreme amounts of pain.
So I was actually fainting. I really appreciate this. ER doctors were thinking I was having a seizure, but now you've proven my opinion right. Thank you.
Happened to me! I was extremely exhausted, hungry and dehydrated (On a church trip where we dressed up like pioneers, pulled wagons and walked like 8 miles) they pushed us so much I ended up fainting, hitting my head on the cart and then having one of these convulsions, we were also in the mountains at least 2 hours away from any hospitals, I also went to school for 3 days before we learned I had a concussion, the first doctors didn't think to check
I have this thing. Learned how to prevent fainting after some situations. Plus, it is important to inform people around you about this. Because some people panicking and try to hold you in hands, while you need to lay
I just did this last week at work. They thought I had high blood pressure but it was a combination of seeing my own blood and not eating yet. My poor coworkers I freaked them all out.
I feel your embarrassment! I did it infront of 50 workers in a work meeting. Freaked everyone out Just hope i didnt fart or anything Been known to do that before
Yeah, but our doctors shouldn’t always jump to “oh you just fainted” either. I once had a (later diagnosed grand mal) seizure that lasted at least three minutes. My boyfriend helped me up after and onto the couch but I don’t remember that at all. All I remember is looking at my phone and seeing a text from my dad that he was here, I stood up and said “oh my dad is here” and he demanded I sit down. I kept trying to get up and he kept telling me to sit down when I finally asked him “why do you keep telling me to sit down?” and he realized I had absolutely no recollection of what happened. Apparently when I had the seizure I had seen the message, stood up, fell over and convulsed for on the floor for several minutes. What is so messed up though is that when I went to urgent care and described what happened, the “doctor” told me I just passed out and not to worry. When I told my psychiatrist about it he was flabbergasted and told me to see a neurologist. I cannot believe that a doctor would tell somebody who was on the floor convulsing for at least three minutes “you just passed out”, not to mention the few minutes afterwards it took to regain cognitive function.
Low bloodpressure , and or "dropping pressure" (meaning it drops sudden and very low for some seconds )is very common by youth. To help this, drink more fluid, not soda, more salt, less sugar . Food every 3-4 hour. And when you stand up,dont start walking straight ahead. Wait some seconds. And its not dangerous. What IS worrying, is how the person lands. So keep close to where you stood up for a while. If this issue is combined with getting very tired, thirsty and unwell,i dould defently make a doctor check the patient one time,to be sure its nothing more (my daughter has a heart murmure. Different types of minor heart issues can make this also). Also, check the blood sugar. But dont run to doctor each time, tho. This is not seizures. Not epilepsy . Only a fainting. Not very serious, minus how you land(not crash head into rocks for example...)
Whaaat?! This happened to my younger sister once. She just stood up, collapsed and started shaking. She didn’t remember what had happened when she woke up and I didn’t think to film. The doctors didn’t find anything and it only happened once. I never thought it could have been something other then a seizure. Guess I can finally get over the fear she might have epilepsy 🤗
My bsf got diagnosed with POTS after she was randomly passing out, she refuses to go back to this one restaurant we love tho cuz she passed out and took out a whole table 😂😂😂 first thing she says when she comes to “did you take a picture of me lol” 😭😭😭
There was a great study done on what peoples bodies do when they faint. For anyone who isn’t aware, that means they paid college students to hyperventilate then stand up fast to see what happened😂
I had a very micro seizure when I was having a strong panic attack. I was scared, crying, breathing hard. And while I was trying to talk to the person I was afraid of, my eyes would roll back and I wouldn’t be able to say words, all that would come out is a grunt, but it only lasted a few seconds and it happened like twice. My chest would hurt so badly. Thankfully I’m in a better place now ❤
I’ve been dealing with similar symptoms lately. It’s like the feeling of standing up too fast, except it can happen when I’m just sitting. My head gets fuzzy, my heart rate slows, and my legs get tingly. Haven’t passed out but been very close to doing so.
if you start to see visual snow/ears start ringing loudly/you start to feel very weak,,, those signs (especially if all together) mean you will more than likely pass out so its best to get close to the ground. just a heads up 😅 i had early symptoms for a while and would usually brush them off but once they started becoming more intense,,, i did not prepare myself,,, and i still have many scars as an unfriendly reminder 😅
@@bananablorpsometimes your ears won't ring. Mine often go deaf and suddenly feel like they're stuffed full of cotton. If that happens, I know to lay down because at that point it's not going to pass.

This happened to me and I never knew what it was!! I’ve fainted twice in my life, and right before I woke up from the first one I remember feeling my forehead lightly hitting my dresser repeatedly (I stood up too fast from my bed and passed out right in front of it) and I was always so worried I somehow had a seizure or something.. glad to know it wasn’t!
This is super helpful! Had syncope seizures as a kid then fainted in my room a few years ago and came to feeling like dogs were licking me but I couldn’t get them off before realizing I just couldn’t move at all. Shot up not knowing where I was, why I went to sleep on the floor, and seeing things knocked over all around. Never brought it up with a doctor and now that I’m pregnant everyone’s up in arms trying to tell me it was due to high blood pressure when I knew it wasn’t. Still gonna keep up with the BP meds but at least I can show them this to clear it up.
My mom had this a lot while I was growing up(now diagnosed with complex migraines and better controlled with medications) and we called it Crappie Flopping like the fish.
I do this every time I faint too. Always happens when I get bloodwork/needles. I just convulse a lot. I also do get panic attacks but never thought it was a seizure even though I look like that.
I have POTS, and one time I passed out at work and everyone thought I had a seizure. It was nice to find out after I woke up that some customers tried to help me and explain to my manager what to do in a seizure. Even though they confused my pass out spell with a seizure, it’s amazing that random strangers have this knowledge just in case to help people they don’t even know out. (I also do the twitching when I pass out so it’s easy to confuse the two)
This happens to me when I have a severe panic attack. Thank you for bringing awareness to this. Most people (even some medical professionals) don't know and tend to overreact.
Either way if I see that I’m gonna rush over and make sure it isn’t a seizure. Better safe than sorry. Anyone passed out is someone I greet with gatorade and a granola bar.
@@codiethememe1273 Of course, yes, and thank you for mentioning it. It was a part of the questions and tests they did. They suspected it since I did pee myself, and it ended not being a seizure. It ended being a complex PTSD, so my nervous system coped with regular fainting in unexpected times.
I get these (dw awaiting diagnosis of PoTS next week as I had a tilt table done during which this also happened) and i am consious just enough to know im jerking about but without control over my body. I went years wondering why if i was having 'seizures' how I could remember it sometimes. Finally found out it wasnt nirmal when a GP with 10+ yrs took me seriously and gave me a pulse oxometer ❤ thanks for making this bc people may think it's dramatic to describe it like this but it is truly exactly like this when I faint.
Wow... thanks for this. I get syncope a lot and have been conscious while experiencing the convulsions and the reason makes so much sense due to the sensation I get.
I don't have this but I have low blood pressure and when it's hot for example it gets lower and I start feeling sick. I never fainted but I was near fainting one time, on the verge of fainting, and it was horrible, I couldn't breath, I was trying to vomit but I couldn't, then my vision went black and then white, shivering all the while. It was like my brain was trying to shut off but my body was trying to keep me awake. Didn't help that it was very hot day, and my family was there laughing at the fact that, in their words, "I threw myself to the floor and started acting like a weirdo while sliding down the hill"
I’m a paramedic and actually ran this call the other day. everyone thought the patient had a seizure but upon further investigation we figured out it was more likely convulsive syncope
I have had these, I had noticed that I only passed out during VERY stressful times in my life. Worked a 12 hour job with little to no days off for 3 long years, and a few more years on and off fainting when I moved out but was also trying to help support my brother and mother because finances were tight. Finally I am in a better place as my family got jobs that actually support them better
I was sick with the flu one time, and my boss insisted I go to work. I got on the train and began to feel incredibly warm, then I fainted and started to convulse. Surprisingly, when I woke, I felt quite refreshed! 3 strangers checked on me, and they were only short of begging me to go to the doctor. I didn't, and 10 yrs later, I'm fine! For context, I worked in a small, family owned boutique - you'd only ever need 2 people to be in the shop for it to be able to function.. 3 people max. Anyway, I get to work.. and 3 people were there already. I told them I just fainted on the train with a nervous chuckle, and not one of them cared, made me a cuppa or told me to go home. Even my own aunts 😂 They told me to get in the window and change out the mannequins 😂 They also paid me minimum wage, by cheque, and every 8+ weeks, which is unrelated, but I am equally bitter about 😂 I quit a few months later. Unfortunately, I still spent years trying to win their approval. At 29, I have finally come to terms with the fact they they are just a-holes, who I don't care about at all 😂
That actually puts my mind at ease because I can feel my body twitch and jerk, I’m aware (kinda) but completely spaced out. Good to know while still bad - its not a seizure-like event. Training a Service Dog to help me
This actually helped. I had several of these a year ago it and it was really hard for my partner to explain the jerks. I got testing for seizures which thank goodness were clear but did a lot in my life. This resource would have helped us
My seizures looked more like me zoning out and my eyes would shake. At night I usually screamed and had faint hand shaking. Seizures have such a range, kind of wild!
yep that happened to me in a resturant for the first time in my life, my mom called 911 because some random old lady screamed “SHES HAVIN A SEIZURE” with an incredibly british accent
This video was actually super helpful to me recently! My sister fainted due to an injury and convulsed like this, and luckily i was able to keep a level head becaude i knew what was happening to her!
holy shit, this happened to me twice before and i thought it was seizures. no doctor would take me seriously, still cant find one that'll test for ANYTHING (im thinking its POTs, but i literally dont know). this gave me so much relief oh my god 😭
My dog would get seizures every so often. It typically started with an unusually large and nasty poop, then awhile later her ears would perk up and walk around all confused. Then her back legs would give out and she would kick and bite. She had her last seizure a couple weeks ago early in the morning while I was still asleep. I miss her everyday.
As much as I complain about having terrible luck considering like inconvenient little things that either mess me up or slow me down, or make my life harder (also have a few medical conditions that are bad but no where near fainting or other things I've seen), I always try to remember someone out there is thugging life with conditions like this girl has
I'm glad I seen this because I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant and my blood pressure drops to 84/50 at times and it feels liked I'm about to pass out. Knowing this can help my family help me in case I do pass out. I was already borderline low BP but due to premature labor pains the doctors prescribed medication that is used to lower BP but it takes mines too low. Only reason I take it is to preserve my baby life in the womb. If her life didn't depend on it I wouldn't chance the risk.
i'm glad she got to put her phone down before it started, i have a friend who has these and she says it's better if they can get a video for their doctor, not sure why but that's what she told me
Few years ago, it happened to me first time while crossing the street (with friends on both sides) already near the pavement. I just had bruises on both knees. Second time in an ascending escalator (close or near the top) with my girlfriend, fortunate enough she hold (supported) me & the woman in front of me til we reach the top end. Both lasted for only few seconds and I woke up as if nothing happened. After that 2 incidents my husband brought me for medical check up (MRI, Blood test, etc.) the cause was insufficient oxygen in my blood going to my brain. I was told to never take aspirin. During the Covids I was given 2X Vaccines & 2X Boosters (total 4), after that my allergies & asthma etc. are gone. At 76 now, am more than happy that I don’t have any health issue, no maintenance med. (yet). I thank and praise the Lord 🙏
I have low blood pressure (~100-110/60-75 is normal) and I have vasovagal/convulsive and sometimes orthostatic syncopes. I was bullied for it in school. I remember many times where I wasn't fully unconscious (so directly before/after the faint) but had no control over my muscles. People stared, talked, laughed, they said I was faking it for attention. I once even fell down a flight of stairs. Who fakes that?! I'm so grateful for the doctors who took me seriously and didn't just say "oh it'll be gone by the time you marry, ha ha". My heart is perfectly healthy. I know my early tell tale signs and surround myself with people who can help me and take it seriously, and I make an effort to maintain a very good varied diet and workout routine. I still have syncopes from time to time, but yeah. Thank you for raising awareness for the different types and causes of syncopes and other stuff like this. ❤
Woah!! In my early 20s I was constantly getting light headed and passing out and having convulsions like that and everyone thought it was seizure based/anxiety but my tests wouldn’t show seizure activity so we chalked it up to anxiety but this makes SO much sense it would be this!!
Whenever I stand up to fast I always pass out, sometimes when I’m coming to I can feel my body convulsing. Really scary whenever it happens but it’s kinda reassuring and comforting to know that it’s not uncommon for this to happen
Bro that happened to me during Covid cause I was lowkey starving myself and never leaving my bad. Tough times for anyone going through something like that just know it does get better. “This too shall pass”
I think i passed out a couple mins ago after playing all day games, it felt weird, i suddendly see nothing but black and the next thing im laying on the floor
It happen on me. Today I thought I was dying 😅 For me its really hard to breathe and before it happen my heart beats so heavy like a drum after like a 4th heavy beat everything turn black and hard to breathe
Lmao this reminds me of one of the first few times I took edibles-I went to use the bathroom and, as soon as I walked in, everything went black for a second and I heard a thud and next thing I knew I was laying belly-down on the floor with my forehead pressed up on the ledge of the tub 💀 Took me a couple seconds to figure out how to reuse my limbs and get back up
That’s honestly kind of a reassuring bit of info too. It would scare the hell out of me either way but it’s better to know what it is than assume a seizure
I was diagnosed very late in early adulthood , told i wouldnt be able to work, so i ignored that and made it worse, took no medicines. Eventually did, no choice. Daytime' classic" seizures under control but have still been unable to control nightime seizures for many years but been able to live with it. Currently though going through futher changes mid 50s changes worsening seizures, migraines other symptoms in the middle of trying new medicines . Off work with its cumulative consequences... 🤞 it will finally stabilise..
actually this is amazing to see, I've been trying to figure out blood pressure related issues I've been having. luckily I haven't fainted for about a month now but have come close. a while back I had a bad episode in the grocery store and my boyfriend put me in the cart to get me home asap, in retrospect it was a bad idea because it compressed my legs and then made my blood pressure nose dive down and I don't actually remember the drive home. I came to after they had gotten me out of the car and I was laying on the grass outside, I remember getting what I call tremors and it got worse when theye elevated my legs but I was becoming more conscious
Wowsers! Impressive!
That's scary. I also have been told my resting heart rate was at 40... I haven't actually talked to a medical doctor yet.. what are the chances?
My friend has a resting heart rate that low and she faints constantly, yet she absolutely refuses to see a doctor about it even tho we have free healthcare!
I keep telling her, girl, one day you'll just die if you don't get help!
She just won't listen and keeps saying "it's not that bad, I've always had that. I just have to lay down"

@@Mama-Fish18 I'm sorry to hear that. My brother passed from epilepsy. So many people don't understand it. But 1 in 8 people will get it...

@@Lilian040210 I was about to comment how weird I thought it was that she recorded it but I'm glad I know the use for that now
The moment you posted it on the internet the intended purpose has been changed.
@@___hey_jooon The purpose of using the video for medical purposes doesn't change just because you post it. Also did you miss the last part of their comment where they said that posting it could have the purpose of spreading awareness?
@@___hey_jooon not really it can help for loads of reasons.
1. Teach the general public that it's not a seizure (like it's being used here)
2. Help medical students learn by seeing it, not just reading about it (you don't come across everything in placement)
Glad you’re alright, that must’ve been terrifying!!
do u think it was bc of the temperature change like hot to cold ?
@@adristrydom5154 yes my daughter has this as well since childhood. Strangely enough, her neurologist told us, and she experienced her worse episodes when she was in the shower.
Heat makes your blood vessels dilate (get bigger) which makes your blood pressure drop. It's also why your feet can got red when your hot (your blood pools in your feet) and blue/purple when you're cold (blood vessels shrink and there's less in your extremeties). It would also happen going from sitting to standing in the bath with the dilated blood vessels.
I was donating blood yesterday and passed out unexpectedly. The girl next to me said I was convulsing. Seeing this is scaring me if that's what I did.
I had a seizure after donating blood too. I scared my mother so badly, she thought i was jokingly hitting myself, then i fell off the chair.
Happened to me once when I was younger and getting blood work done.
Nowadays, I ask to get my blood taken while lying down, instead of sitting up. Haven't fainted yet!
Did you eat a satiating meal beforehand?
@@marlenegold280 Yup
Not everyone can donate blood due to this. But it could also just be that you weren't properly hydrated or nourished enough. However do bring it up to your doctor if you see one regularly.
I have this. Before I was diagnosed with severe POTS, they tried to tell me I was having PNES. Freaking wild.
Did they do an eeg on you? I've had low pb for most of my life. They did and eeg and they say I'm epileptic

I gotta say, fainting is REALLY weird. I’ve only ever fainted twice in my life, and both were back to back with my mom and my poor poor grandma who decided to drop in for a visit scared to death (I was having a severe allergy attack)
Like one minute you’re fine and then you blink and you’re on the floor and your brain is trying to comprehend what just happened and you suddenly can’t understand the language you grew up with for a good couple seconds and have no nod to whatever was said

Also,check the blood sugar.
But dont run to doctor each time, tho. This is not seizures. Not epilepsy .
Only a fainting. Not very serious, minus how you land(not crash head into rocks for example...)
Can change of temperature cause the low blood pressure ? Like going from cold to rlly hot or vice versa ?

Had one of these the other day; this was helpful.
-Thanks!
Poor baby.
When I fainted regularly, doctors asked me if I peed myself. They said that indicates seizure.
That's not always the case tho
@@codiethememe1273 Of course, yes, and thank you for mentioning it. It was a part of the questions and tests they did. They suspected it since I did pee myself, and it ended not being a seizure. It ended being a complex PTSD, so my nervous system coped with regular fainting in unexpected times.
I fainted I was so scared bc my vision went blurry I saw dots then I blinked and I couldn’t see I thought I was blind then I fainted bc of dehydration
I had this happen to me several times when I was a kid 👁️👁️. So glad I finally have an answer of what actually happened!
THANK YOU. I'VE BEEN SEEKING TO KNOW WHAT THIS WAS FOR YEARS. Doctors didn't have answers. 😭😭
I’m a paramedic and actually ran this call the other day. everyone thought the patient had a seizure but upon further investigation we figured out it was more likely convulsive syncope
The fact she got to record it without issue, that was excellent timing and skill
This is good to know. This used to happen to me pretty often when I was a teenager and I wasn’t sure what it was
I was sick with the flu one time, and my boss insisted I go to work.
Even my own aunts 😂 They told me to get in the window and change out the mannequins 😂
They also paid me minimum wage, by cheque, and every 8+ weeks, which is unrelated, but I am equally bitter about 😂
I quit a few months later. Unfortunately, I still spent years trying to win their approval.
At 29, I have finally come to terms with the fact they they are just a-holes, who I don't care about at all 😂
Oooo I fainted like this when I was like 15. I always wondered why I came round with my head rocking back and fourth
I never heard of convulsive faints. Thanks.
That actually puts my mind at ease because I can feel my body twitch and jerk, I’m aware (kinda) but completely spaced out. Good to know while still bad - its not a seizure-like event.
Training a Service Dog to help me
This is terrifying. I wouldn't want a video of myself unconscious lmao':)
Meanwhile me: my god, she is so pretty! And I like her outfit, it suits her soft beauty so much
Thank you for finallj explaining
holy shit, this happened to me twice before and i thought it was seizures. no doctor would take me seriously, still cant find one that'll test for ANYTHING (im thinking its POTs, but i literally dont know). this gave me so much relief oh my god 😭
Thank you for this info! I black out sometimes and get jerky, and wondered why that happened
As much as I complain about having terrible luck considering like inconvenient little things that either mess me up or slow me down, or make my life harder (also have a few medical conditions that are bad but no where near fainting or other things I've seen), I always try to remember someone out there is thugging life with conditions like this girl has
At last I know what was happening to me as a child thank you
I'm glad I seen this because I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant and my blood pressure drops to 84/50 at times and it feels liked I'm about to pass out.
This happens to me, but for minutes at a time. I actually thought I was having Seizures thanks for the information
Okay, that explains why my doctors didn't freak out about me convulsing like that when I passed out. Thanks for the info!
i'm glad she got to put her phone down before it started, i have a friend who has these and she says it's better if they can get a video for their doctor, not sure why but that's what she told me
Few years ago, it happened to me first time while crossing the street (with friends on both sides) already near the pavement.
Weird. It’s interesting to see it and compare it to the experience
Used to happen to me in middle school on occasion. Free day off, imo. Good shit.
I think i passed out a couple mins ago after playing all day games, it felt weird, i suddendly see nothing but black and the next thing im laying on the floor
It happen on me. Today
I thought I was dying 😅
For me its really hard to breathe and before it happen my heart beats so heavy like a drum after like a 4th heavy beat everything turn black and hard to breathe
@@glittergamer765im sorry i laughed 😭 i shouldn't
Lmao this reminds me of one of the first few times I took edibles-I went to use the bathroom and, as soon as I walked in, everything went black for a second and I heard a thud and next thing I knew I was laying belly-down on the floor with my forehead pressed up on the ledge of the tub 💀 Took me a couple seconds to figure out how to reuse my limbs and get back up
@@devisthokchom1505it would be a good idea to see a doctor if you can! Just to be safe!
@@glittergamer765😭 a pimple
Oh my goodness I’m so glad it wasn’t a seizure, I’ve had this happen to me twice and I thought it was one. Hasn’t happened sense, thank God.
So that’s what that is! I’ve told people about this before and everyone told me to go to the doctor but it never felt that serious
Girl really knocked herself out
