Thanks, Dave! Mazda says driving matters and they surely made that apparent with the CX-9. Out of all 3 row crossovers in this class I’ve driven, this drives the best. Let me know what you think. Which 3 row is the best in your eyes?
I liked your review. I am looking for new mid-size suv and CX-9 is in my shortlist. My concern is about engine being turbocharged DI and no port injection available, do you think it will suffer from Carbon accumulation. Will lower octane gasoline will give Carbon issue compared to premium gas. Can you do some video related to this?
I really love the sharp styling of the CX-9. Also, that LED lighting located in the grille is pretty sleek looking. Honestly, this Crossover is for those who truly enjoy driving, but so happen to have a large family. Luckily, you'll be guaranteed to be looking good while rolling down the road in this 3-row crossover. To a certain extent, the CX-9 is practically a luxury vehicle... Especially in the Signature trim level that you tested. Great review, Nolan!
When test driving a car, I also want to know how it accelerates and the overall driving dynamics when it is full of passengers. I hope you this next time. Thanks.
I’m wondering how well it drives in the mountains with the small engine when it is loaded. I’ve had three older cx-9’s with the v-6. Getting ready to get a new one and have concerns.
The Subaru Ascent interior isn't as posh as this but it still has a CD player and paddle shifters which are super handy when driving on a down grade on ice and you don't want to take your hands off the wheel. The info screen is much closer than on this Mazda. Aesthetically I much prefer this Mazda over the Subaru Ascent but I prefer the practicality the Subaru offers over this Mazda. It would be nice if one vehicle had it all.
This colour looks nice in the brochure and when the car is clean. But it gets dirty fast and then looks dull. I have soon quite some Mazdas in this colour and I don't like it. So my Mazdas are white - but I am considering a black CX-5...
asher kothapalli good question. I read once that the weight from the glass can affect driving dynamics...not sure the truth behind it. I’m sure the metal roof is heavy enough too though lol
Was going to get one of these but the car salesman was just too rude they don't want to negotiate. Went across the street to Ford got a sweet Ford Explorer EcoBoost 4 cylinder better choice.
J Rock, didn't occur to you WHY you can get a better deal on a Ford, or say a GM, or Chrysler product? Things of less value and desirability sell for less. No offense on your choice but that's how the market works. My CX-9 got hit and needed a repair so I got an Explorer rental. Felt like an economy car compared to the Mazda.
- JPL - I'm actually glad I didn't get the Mazda, even though I love how it drives and handles it's no match for the 2.3 EcoBoost engine from ford, and the Ford have a usable 3rd row seat.
Prime Autotainment Good review, man. The CX9 has always been a stylish alternative in the crossover segment. I have been rather skeptical of the power delivery out of a four banger on a heavier vehicle. I just wish Mazda made an in-house 6.
Alan Hua thank you! I would also love to see a 6 from them. This powertrain was smooth and quick enough but it did feel heavy and especially in higher RPM ranges..it lost its pull
I just bought this vehicle today. I already love it. It drives like dream! This is my 3rd CX-9 and 4th Mazda😀
A superb drive, the CX-9 is rapidly rising up to the top of its segment in terms of value for money. Thanks for the awesome review!
Mr. Mazda I agree and thank you!

DriveAndBeDriven well said! Thank you very much!
Really nice looking Cx9
Thanks for sharing
Nice addition of Nolan. I will be watching more of Everyman Driver!!!
A Yates thank you!
Really wish this was avalible in the U.K

Joe E. That’s a good idea!
Bonus with the center console. Put in a tissue box there. And the rear seat passenger can reach it as well.
It begs for a panoramic sunroof and a better infotainment system. It will be absolutely perfect.
I was really surprised that it didn’t have a pano roof! Good thing they finally are adding CarPlay/Android
Mazda is about driving. A panoramic would add weight. And make it more top heavy.
Great job Nolan!!
L.C Footman thanks very much!
Great review and l like the color, thanks.

Great review. Probably my fav SUV. You did it justice. =)
Thank you!

We traded our cx9 in for this and we wouldn't go back. The power feel is much higher than the cx9 from what I remember as well.
Machine Gray is beautiful.
Robert William agreed!

Jürg Hölzle I can imagine that! Always hard to choose. I think black would look nice on this
I have a 2011 and wouldnt get anything else. Best driving experience of the bunch.
If I hadn't disliked the seats so much, this would've been the color for me!
They drastically need to upgrade the horsepower on this car...for 227 HP and only getting 22 mpg, that just needs work.
Why no Panoramic Roof offered on the Signature when 2018 VW Tiguan offers it?
asher kothapalli good question. I read once that the weight from the glass can affect driving dynamics...not sure the truth behind it. I’m sure the metal roof is heavy enough too though lol
Then go with stupid VW and stop bitching
Panoramic roof reduces head room.
Affordable Volvo!

Sinister Veridicus its more powerful then the Mazda...but the Mazda is sweet though.
Should have just gone to another mazda dude.
Driving matters. When did it not?
jaiizwaii89 “Driving matters” is one of Mazda’s marketing slogans.
Sorry I should have said that’s one of Mazda’s slogans. Thanks Alan Hua!

The fog lights look like a joke
Naiyo they’re so tiny lol
No remote start or trailer hitch.
Deal breaker for me.
You can get both

Jeremy Herrin Dave still does all his normal videos, there are a few randomly from me
I love the car, but I cannot accept the design of having the grill protrude further forward than the bumpers!!!!!
paul pellico that protrusion throws me off too
Supposed to look like a jet engine. Or something like that.
That third row looks useless
So are you
Cx9 has one of the most spacious third row in this category
