It's funny that you have someone in the background reminding you the proper word when you stuck when you explained , it's kind of cute in the way... Thank for all the informations about the plants .😊😉👍👍
Our Dracaena is 40 years old. It's as tall as a palm tree. It bloomed many times and somehow survives. It blooms yearly and I adore the smell of its flowers. It gets minimal care, but somehow manages to do ok. We consider it part of the family.
That truly sounds so glorious! Congratulations for maintaining it so well! I would love to see a picture of it. I have had my dracaena compacta for 5-6 years and just in the last year it’s new leaves appear paler shade of green than the others, it’s not unsightly but I am wondering if it is a nutrient issue. Do you have any advice or suggestions ? Thank you.
This is encouraging!! I just got a 2' D Candelabra a couple of weeks ago and planted it in a pons media which is working out well. I'm nervous about watering too much. I have been misting it with Brita water that has sat for 24 hrs . How often to fertilize and what kind??
WOW! That's very nice! I have taken a top of a leafless one that was going to just dry in the the sun. I put that stem section in saibro (red volcanic rock) and that stem section put out leaves but it didn't root. 2 years after, this spring, I decided to put it in water and it finally rooted! Now it's potted in, basically, Pumice + Coco Coir + Worm Castings. > : )
Indoor plants I love them, they could give you pure oxygen, I have many of indoor plants and I take care of them as baby. every morning I woke up I feel so fresh and love to see they are shine and green. I am here to study how to taking care of a new plant I bought. Thank you Swedish plant guy for your channel and so much to learn.
I recently bought a LOT of plants. -A Dracaena being one of them. I never knew how much I'd love taking care of them. However, being the attentive person I am, I notice a small yellow spot on one of my lower leaves and researched what it meant. I found out root rot can cause this due to an excessive amount of water and instantly knew I was watering it too much. The source said 5-7 days, whereas I had been watering it daily. Glad I hadn't killed her! Thanks for this informative video!
bought on for $2 at whole foods thinking it was such a cute small plant and didn’t realize it was a tree... it’s 2 years later and i have a 3ft tree in my house
About 70% of my dracaena leaves turned brown all of a sudden. I thought maybe I forgot to water it but now I think it was to close to the vent when I turned the heat on for winter. I cut the brown leaves off about 2 months ago and it's just now starting to grow new leaves. Just a friendly reminder to keep them away from hot air vents. 🙂
A complete information on a Dacaena plants .. we rally appreciated your work and information given in this video .. keep it up .. thank you from saudi arabia .
Thanks for this... my tree is now 10 feet tall after 11 years. I didn’t know what to do with it. Now I do. I am going to propagate some branches. It flowered 3 times, and I loved the fragrance.
Wonderful.often i have to go 3 to 4 videos then find a website and still dont feel i know everything i need to to successfully take care of my new plants BUT this covered everything in ONE video.thank you
I just purchased a Mass Cane plant today. There were only two left. The one that I purchased had a few brown tips and two of the leaves were split. I cut them off and it is beautiful. Thank you for the video
My dracaenas are very old. I Planted them at least thirty years ago. There was only one variety available then. In late November the air is sweetly perfumed late at night all around my yard. They recover quickly from storm damage. I enjoy your posts. You are very knowledgeable and entertaining.
Beautiful, interesting video. Learned a lot and I wish everybody could speak English as clear as you, good speed, accent and very easy to understand every single word. Congratulations. New subscriber here. Thank you
You are awesome! We were gifted our Dracaena at our son's funeral 12 years ago. We have struggled to keep it alive and now I have hope we will be able to care for it even longer. Thank you for making it easy to understand how to care for this plant! Also, I haven't heard mentioned if it is possible to plant the "flower" and get new growth from it? Does the flower really not serve any purpose to this plant? And when you say "self watering" is this favored from above or below in the planter?
I am sorry about your son. Please check my video about watering. Even if the language is Korea, you can understand it. ua-cam.com/video/y5ECBJbKDYU/v-deo.html
Love love love this video. Thank you so much for getting into so much details. I just bought 2 large (1m70) dracaena janet craig yesterday at the Gare du Midi market in Brussels. They were grown in Holland. I didn't check the roots before taking them home so will do so immediately. Thank you so much. Vanessa
Thank you for sharing this information. This is the best video on the care of this plant. I've been searching for a video as good as this one, watched many of them but I love this one .Thank you again.
Thank you, my sister-in-law gave me 2 beautiful dracaenas but they were turning brown leaves so I start taking care of them, I love the simplicity and easy care!!!
Amazingly indepth! Can you do a pothos and philodendron? ....as well as a video of pests and houseplant problems (covering common issues like gnats all the way to complex concerns like nutrient deficiency), expressing more on key signs that indicate a specific problem....so we can trouble shot our individual issues more easily. Thank you!
Thanks for the info on the spider mites! I wouldn’t have even considered the concept of “giving them a little bit of water” all the time during the winter. I’m a recovering “plant over-waterer” so I’ve trained myself to resist the urge to water a little bit, quite frequently. Good to know! Lol!
I've learned a lot from your videos. You are very knowledgeable about plants and make everything easy to understand. My favorite Plant related youtube channel of all
The flower blooms do not kill the plant. Yes it does suck more nutrients. The lower leaves may brown. But they live. Mine blooms every other year. The white flowers bloom only at night and close during the day. I love the sweet sweet smell that permeates the house at night. It also gives out a clear sticky sugary sap. I let all the flowers die off before I cut it.
👏Thank you foral of the detailed information I love it! FYI: In the case of SPIDER MITES I attacked them with 95% rubbing alcohol and they're gone! My plants are getting better and better every day.😊❤🌱 - Lety form San Diego, California, USA
I've just bought a small one at my favourite garden for 2.50€ . Hope this time it will survive to my overcare... The first one died for overwatering, so you're very very right when you say to let the plant dry completely before watering again. Another problem was dry tips, I think this is also due to overwatering, let's see this time... P.s. love it when you don't remember a word and you whistle while mimicking the word ahah, anyway it's quite stressful to speak a language that is not your mothertongue, we know! So, bravo twice! Ciao from Sicily
Ok, I have watched a lot of your videos. I appreciate that you are trying so hard to find the proper words in English. America has many problems, one particular is people coming in on our “open borders”, yet when they get here they have NO INTENTION of speaking English! That earned you a new subscriber!
Am a draceana love, last year I had brown spot running down on my leaves took a leave of it to the plant clinic they told me it was bacteria affecting it, I phyton 27 one to spray and water it and it works so far❤❤❤
Genell Baun, I am presently dealing with ‘fluoride toxicity’ with my plant. I am using the water from my de-humidifier instead of public water with fluoride.
Very informative. I now know that low humidity in winters (due to AC) causes Spider mites to attack the plants. I lost many plans because they are very difficult to remove. in winter I now use humidifiers in my rooms.
i got one late last year in lidl for £3.99 and its grown a good few inches taller than when i first got it, i love it so much and it reminds my mum of granny because she used to have one when she was a kid
Thank you soooo much for this extremely informative video. Many things work for all plants, but some things where new for me. Tvank you slot, very good work.
This video is just amazing, I love the fact that you're trying to find the English words. I have the same thing going for me. This is a very genuine video and I'm going to subscribe for more. Keep up the amazing work 😁
I love this chanel !!! Ijust subscribed, thank you so much for the information provided, You are very unknowable, I have learned a lot from this videos, Thank you!!!
I love how they look like a huge bamboo. I got mine at Lowe's for $5 and I make room in the car to take it home. It does need a little tlc bu5 I'm fine wit that!
weve got plenty of these at home and it grows pretty much everywhere, i cut ours every 6months cause they grew new trees so fast and even if you just throw the cuttings somewhere and even if the tip touches the soil it develop roots all by itself and about taking care of them doesnt need so much skill once they have shoots and rooted theyre like badass survivor. We also use them as our post for our backyard fences. ive cut souch of them and sometime intentionally burn them cause they dont rot they survive with little moisture.

Greetings from California. This is by far the best video about Dracaenas that I have seen, you cover all of the stages of the plant's life. Thank YOU!
My dracaenas are very old. I Planted them at least thirty years ago. There was only one variety available then. In late November the air is sweetly perfumed late at night all around my yard. They recover quickly from storm damage. I enjoy your posts. You are very knowledgeable and entertaining.

Love this guy, his presentation is fun and informative.

I love it when he said, “ask your wife”!!!
Ask my wife? Don't think so.
Me too, sweet
Agreed
Swedish men have to ask their wives permission to buy a plant !
My favorite part
Absolutely awesome ! You are a great teacher !
brown tips can be prevented by using distilled water also
Is this because of chemically treated water? Or can I use my water from my private well or bottled water?
Genell Baun, I am presently dealing with ‘fluoride toxicity’ with my plant. I am using the water from my de-humidifier instead of public water with fluoride.
i live in Puerto Rico and i was looking for info on this particular plant! thank you great vid btw

How did you replant it? Did you have to expose the roots completely?
I've been watering my dracaenas for 35 years with my tap water that has floride in it
I love your videos!!!
🌿"Dry off every leaf" (with the wet rag) lol. I know it's just a translation thing but it's humorous 😀🌿
