Coming from a Rajput, I have to admit that Marathas/Marathis have such a deeper and more glorified history compared to us. We respect Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj the same way we respect our own Maharana Pratap.

I have lived in Mumbai for 2 yrs.Its lively, hectic, crowded at the same time it is happening.Marathi people are traditional and modern, they balance their culture with modernity.I found mostly vegetarians, I may be wrong about it.It is a land of warriors and brave people.My Marathi friends are simple and good hearted,always helpful.Being a South Indian I never felt outsider in Mumbai.Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ki Jai.

My mom's side of the family is from MP. Marathis have influenced the state very much. Indore and Gwalior were Maratha kingdoms, and Marathis have left a lot of their culture there. Scindias and Holkars were great warriors.

I almost spent four years in Pune city, really they have very rich culture, I love everything about them their style, traditional food, costumes, Ganpati visrjan festival and language.
