Dear all, I am so amazed you all seem to enjoy the video. I play tennis and i thought this kind of view is well appreciated by tennis fans as it allows to get a better understanding of the work done by the pros. Having the GOAT for sure is appreciated. Now i can see that many wonder who is the playing playing with Roger, I am sorry but I have no idea. With more than 1M views, i am sure he has seen the video, so please let me know who you are ! Maybe Roger can help also, who knows, he might also has watched the video. I asked him on tweeter but he did not answer! All, please share the word and we will know who got so lucky playing with RF.
Looks like Thomas Enqvist by the strokes. Federer knows him well. Earlier in their careers, Enqvist simply overpowered Federer. In 1999 Enqvist was in the top 5 ATP while Federer was just arriving on the scene. Huge talent. He still dominates the Senior Tour events he plays.
in his biography, Roger admits that he doesn't like practices. He rather play directly. he fools around in practices. I think that's why his team came up with the SABR .. it was a fruit of fooling around the return of serve
At 0:16, Roger's hitting partner misses a forehand ... but Roger already knew he would miss. See how Roger reaches for the ball in his pocket well before the partner even makes contact.
It's just amazing watching how Federer strikes the ball with no effort. I played tennis in my youth and was decent at the college and state level but what he can do is far removed from what 99.9% of us can ever hope to achieve. Even good tennis players.
In tennis, the warm-up is done playing, so at the beginning the movements cannot be sudden, in those hits a lot of the force is given by the swingweight of the racket, in this case its 350 gr racket. As it heats up, the force and rhythm and speed of the ball increase.
He could be any rec player even at this slow pace a 5.5 would still get destroyed even at this warmup pace . Let’s let that sink in how much better pros are than us joes.
This video is beyond Amazing..! I could watch it in my couch, my bed or in Walmart in the TV's section without blink and complain. Those 20 min it would feel like 5! So relaxing and pleacent. The technic and the perfect sounds of every hit by RF it's ridiculous, how luck we are to be in the same century and watch
Just to give you an idea of the skill level here, Roger and his hitting partner (I think Thomas Enqvist, or maybe Magnus Norman) hit 24 balls from 2:41 to 3:11. That’s at a 48 balls per minute rate. When I hit with D1 College kids we average 35 balls (successfully struck) per minute. Those balls are really hit. Each of his forehands equals my biggest “go for broke” forehand, and I will likely never reach his backhand pace with mine. Now look how effortlessly Federer does this. It’s amazing 🤩, astonishing!
Damn Fed...I've been playing tennis for more than 20 years yet I can't hit the ball as relax as much he does. So relax & so easy for him but to me, this is just a high level practice.
Not how many years that are matter but rather how do we learn. I played for 8 years and learning tennis all by myself without coach. It takes me that long to have a clean and relax stroke.
Half-fist dude salute! I’ve started playing 2 years ago at my club. I’m currently 13 and I am in the advanced. I really like tennis and I want to become a Professional Tennis Player! Same to you and keep working toawards it. Maybe one day, we will play one another!!!
I always cant help but think. "how freaking good must hitting partner be and he's a nobody." If we played against his hitting partner, we'd probably think we played the best player that ive ever seen and he's nothing compared to how good federer is. Just amazing.
The monotonous sound of the racquets striking the balls and the consistency and regularity reminds me of the vintage TV game I once had which involved paddles as tennis racquet playing against the computer (those stick TV games from the early 80's) .
Was this before the tournament started? There’s no one watching. Even at night you’d think it would be packed. That’s the GOAT...Roger Federer...20 Grand Slam titles!!! So cool you were right there.
I got pretty lucky ! In Qatar not a lot of people care about Tennis. Since i was working there, i thought he might wanna practice before the tournament and he was there at 8pm.
Fed footwork so amazing, the timing, he always take the split step on time when the opponent hit the ball. Thats why he never too late. Keeping the head on the the side after hit the ball, very focus and dicipline, he keep hes eyes on the ball, and not turning head even the ball already go
Fed holds the racquet on the very end of the handle. Part of his hand is off the but of the racquet handle. I noticed Fed almost never backs up, he stands his ground and adjusts to each ball. Sometimes he hits half volleys instead of backing up. The way Agassi used to.

wow. i really don't use my wrist enough. it just looks effortless the way Fed hits. he isn't over exerting himself. but you have to have very good timing, which means a LOT of practice, to have such good wrist action. i have a lot of work to do.
You know you´re a descent practice partner if a better player calls you to a hitting session. I don´t know who the player in red shirt is, but if Federer called him....
Fyi, if you manage to play at the initial speed and with the consistency Federer is playing here, you're already a decent tennis player. And for him, this is basic relaxed hitting.
If God played professional Tennis, he would play & look precisely like the Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer. It was ⏳️ to leave the game & be with his lovely family. The graceful magician will forever be ingrained into our memories. Thank you for it all, Roger!

The video is amazing - props to you! But, why is such a big deal who is he playing with? Let's just enjoy this wonderful piece of art!
I just figured he was part of the guys Roger trains with.
This footage is GOLD!!!👌🏾

@@virginfitness You're right thumbs up
That backhand slice is just absurdly good. He absolutely knifes it.
A lot of pros have commented on how it’s his most difficult shot to deal with from the other side of the net. It’s really nasty esp on grass.
Greatest slice backhand of all time
Definetely best slice in tennis. He has a great touch and he does it so natural
Even though he Nadal and Djokovic surpassed him, he still has the best hand skills ever
Knifed* :'c
Roger is just so effortless, it's like he's taking a walk in the park. Just easy.
Fizzy 979 that there is also a walk in the park haha
Fizzy 979 cuz he is
Its his damn technique...
Ye and probably why he just were in the Wimbledon final at age 37. Unbelievable athlete....
It takes years
Federer's backhand is beautiful.

That's funny

Damn fed is so chill practicing compared to actually playing

I mean, when you're the best in the world, I can definitely see why practicing can come as a bore haha
he is just warming up getting this timing settled in, I wouldn't even call this "practice". he isn't working on anything really.
Damn water is wet.

Anyone else finding this oddly therapeutic?

Good observation!
we all have this movement when we think we're hitting the ball out, so nothing
worthwhile i guess
It appeared it was well out as well, off balance
Rasta Ray z
Xavier Malisse??
It's just amazing watching how Federer strikes the ball with no effort. I played tennis in my youth and was decent at the college and state level but what he can do is far removed from what 99.9% of us can ever hope to achieve. Even good tennis players.
Relaxing your muscles actually allows more power given your technique is correct.
It is amazing. I think you had to have played tennis at least at a collegiate level to fully appreciate how astonishing Federer is. It's almost magic.
In tennis, the warm-up is done playing, so at the beginning the movements cannot be sudden, in those hits a lot of the force is given by the swingweight of the racket, in this case its 350 gr racket. As it heats up, the force and rhythm and speed of the ball increase.

Such a satisfying video. Perfectly timed and connected shots. It's just beautiful to watch and hear.
one of the best federer practice recordings i have ever seen on youtube! high quality video of smooth and clean tennis strokes.
I wish I could just casually hit it like this... LOL
I think most people can hit in such a relaxed fashion if they practice, the only difference is the shots won't be nearly as powerful.
Aleph Null nor accurate, even less accurate than powerful...
@@jackquinn9535 No they could definitely hit as accurately, seeing as all these shots are just roughly up the middle of the court.
@@alephnull4044 Nope. Just an illusion.
Jack Quinn nah any good player can hit like that by reducing the speed enough
The guy in Black is so lethargic, he won't be able to win even one trophy,I bet

His hitting partner isn’t Enqvist or Norman. 😀
From his swings and look, i'd bet on Xavier Malisse.
Thats Xavier Malisse. Just look at the forehand, dude
The 3 backhands at 3:20 display Federer's amazing mastery of different ways it can be hit.
Merci monsieur pour cette magnifique vidéo, j'adore !

Thanks for sharing. Love this one
0:15 he knows his opponents is going to hit the ball out before any contact.. wow
Bullshit, his ball was out.
so what its practice lol. many balls our out of base line but they dont stop bcs of it.
You know i'm not Federer, with 22 years less experience than him but i can still do that, because it takes observing the trajetory of the ball too.
Roger hit his backhand out and that forced the error from his opponent.
are u dumb? he clearly takes the ball out AFTER the other guy hit it

I know that Feds forehand gets most of the attention, deservedly so, but man that one hander is a thing of beauty.
i havent blinked on that backhand motion.
Play ball, search for sensations, enjoy, again and again, never getting tired, that is the ROAD to VICTORY !

Best footwork in tennis, ever. People always say tennis is a racketsport, it is yes, but footwork is 80% of the sport
Notice the perfect split step before every shot.
Didnt you guys know... Roger got 4 shaddows...!

I like when he readjust his body when hitting the backhand at 0.58s. Subtle!!
I like how he’s like, if the ball requires a trip to reach then forget it, here’s a new ball..

You know you´re a descent practice partner if a better player calls you to a hitting session. I don´t know who the player in red shirt is, but if Federer called him....
