The fact that the King didn’t invite Harry to the trooping of the colour sends a strong message. The King is bound by the constraints of Constitutional Law, William wouldn’t be able to do anything more than Charles can.

King Edward III founded the Order of the Garter around the time of his claim to the French throne.[1] The traditional year of foundation is usually given as 1348 (when it was formally proclaimed). However, The Complete Peerage, under "The Founders of the Order of the Garter", states the order was first instituted on 23 April 1344, listing each founding member as knighted in 1344. A tradition going back almost 700 years.

I am completely amazed that on these hot day , that nobody I can see has water to drink , and so few people have hats on their heads and those beautiful troops with metal hat and gloves on , it just stunning to see and really beautiful done , the British pomp and ceremony , none can really do it better . Please take care dehydration is a real problem , I do worry for all ,

It's partly true, but a lot of these ceremonies aren't about that, they're just traditional. Like the ceremony of the keys at the Tower for example. It's happened every day since I belive the 1200s, apart from Oliver Cromwell's time. All through the Blitz and so on. Nothing to do with Empire or being Top Nation (we're well past that now), just an unnecessary, rather eccentric ceremony that is somehow part of our fabric. I didnt even know about it till an American friend dragged me along to see.
