Did IO say how to put your Hitman 2 progress in hitman 3
The question that I'm asking is tho, will we be able to play Hitman 1 and 2 maps in Hitman 3 considering it's purchased from Epic Games,
therefore we don't own the Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 in Epic Games Launcher
Some people said it's ran on it's own Online Services but I'm still kinda worried

I loved his face in Hitman 2. He looked wise, sad and mysterious at the same time. It was one of the best 47s faces. Now he really looks like a kid.

Hitman 2 is my preferred look among all the games as well. At least the changes are quite subtle this time around, though sadly he did lose a bit of his signature cheekbones.

Having actually seen a small oil fire, it went from looking like a game to a real fire, all that's missing is a bunch more dark smoke. Even the explosion has way more improvements than just a "bright flashing bloom effect". The shockwave is better, there is shrapnel now, and it doesn't just magically catch on fire, it actually explodes.

Why did they change his face yet again? The Hitman 2 model looked great.
Yeah, I think that they should have kept his Hitman 2 face model but changed his suit, since I did play both Hitman 2016-18 I didn't like Hitman 2's changed suit model but his face was fine.
I think it was the best face to match the stern, wiser voice.
Also the lack of detail/aging to his head makes it too shiny with the updated lighting. You’ll go blind within the first hour lol

As CG artist I can see why. Hitman 2 face is far more stylized. They toned down the secondary features much like real faces look like. It's simply realism over the style kind of thing. Or maybe they used a scan of a real face and then adjusted the features just to make it look more like 47.
The reason why it looks so unrealistic btw is beacause the real time renderers simply cannot calculate the light reasonably well enough for a model like that to look good enough.I am sure that the original sculp of his face looks just splendid and way better than the stylized one from hitman 2.
Agent 47’s face looks like a Pixar villain now, but the rest of the game looks great.

@@huhhuh364 they didn't downgrade his face, they just made it look more realistic. He was way to detailed before which was great cus it had a lot of details but wasn't very realistic.
He looks more human to me TBH. Though I liked the animated/robotic look he had before. Really cemented the idea that he wasn't just a normal human being.

Minus agent 47's face I feel like the hitman series is highly underated in the graphics department, some of the most beautiful environments in gaming have come from these semi remakes and I feel like nobody really talks about them that much
Honestly, most hdr games look amazing so it's sometimes hard to standout unless your animations are next lvl

If you can play user created hits, I have about 75 online for the PS4. All are titles of songs lol.
One of the main reason this happens is because their episodic game format. Most people buy the after all the episodes are released.

They did find the perfect face in Hitman 2. This is face change isn’t anywhere near as bad as it could be, and it not even 1 percent as bad as when this has happened in other games like spiderman, but it’s a really noticeable downgrade and was definitely a terrible decision by the design team

Those screenspace reflections breathe a whole new life into the older levels, especially Paris. Looking forward to replay it.
Those earlier levels had screen spaced reflections but seems like they cranked it up a notch with this one.

@@lordpoob I'd like to see AI mechanics improve. They were making real progress with FEAR and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.. then developers just turned their focus away to make big open worlds instead.
Alien Isolation is the last game I recall having a really great Artificial intelligence. The Last of Us 1+2 is pretty solid too

AI is way overdue for an upgrade. and tons of franchises would benefit from it, like assassins creed and hitman, and even more linear games like CoD and the battlefield games. unfortunately, most AAA studios/publishers care too much about money to put that much effort into something that can be done cheaper and easier, and most indie studios lack the money, time, and/or experience to do that

@@Jun-Kyard Games are not about being realistic, it's about delivering on a fantasy. It doesn't matter if someone with this look could technically be a murderer, but rather that the players will always have certain preconceptions of how this ruthless assassin should look, and playing into that helps deliver on the games fantasy.
This new face looks goofy, but not so much that it feels intentional (unlike things like the flamingo suit) and as a result it contrast really awkwardly with the rest of the game. I really hope they revert it.

12:40 There are slight differences on the pistol animations. It appears that the devs have lessen the recoil on them; the shotgun has a cocking sound now, and Agent 47 holds the carbine by the handguard instead of the magwell.

they should make an option to change the 47 model you play as in the settings, it would be a cool addition since it's the end of the trilogy and for people who prefer one of the older models, I'm sure they have them in a file somewhere
The Textures on all NPC's and Agent 47 look like they are more blurry. That might be why Agent 47 looks younger, cause there is less interaction with the texture normals to make the shadowing of the textures stand out.
This just shows how next gen Hitman 2 truly was, love this game.

@@Seshking69 cause in 1 and 2 there are 6 maps each, and in hitman 3 6 more. If you had to launch the other games as soon as you want to try out the othere it would be very frustrating, so instead you can play them directly from Hitman 3 (if you own hitman 1 and 2 which are currently on sale *wink wink*).

The lack of the face detail is from the accentuated sss(subsurface) effect, which covers the normal map and the roughness of the skin shader for the face, making the diffuse map more predominant and give it a more waxy look; but the details are there nonetheless, but more subtle; good video, cheers!

I think the younger Hitman look in 3 fits more with the perfected engineered human he is meant to be, It doesn't really make sense to have a prefect mental and physical condition among other abilities but look like + 45 years old.

Looks like the skin change is largely due to sub surface scattering, which makes the skin react with the lighting. So, you are correct to say it has to do with the lighting, but it also has to do with the skin texture.
Exactly. Subsurface Scattering can lose some small details as well hence the softer look which i think is more impressive overall.

Great comparison. Hitman 3 was the second game I played and beat twice during the lockdown. Hitman was another series I've been playing and following the story for almost 20 years and I wanted to see how it ended.
I'm liking the new gun animations how it doesn't flip up whenever you fire and that 47 is far more accurate with the pistols, holds the rifle with a forward grip and while I also appreciate you can hear the cycling on the pump action, I wish the sound wasn't soo generic.
Personally I liked having the same paths every playthrough of a level, you were able to learn how they worked and how to improve them constantly.
Finally Hitman is making it's final show eagerly waiting for James Bond next by io

@@StijnManBro Really hopeful that they'll be able to finally push the 007 game franchise firmly out of the FPS bubble that it's only rarely stepped out of, the vast majority of Bond games have just been failed attempts to recapture the magic of a game that came out over twenty years ago. IOI should be a very welcome change.
@Maffew UK They're not a small team. They have over 200 devs in their studio. That's the size of most AAA studios.
Hopefully they make Bond look the right age, 40's-50's.

I'm half-way through watching, and I just remembered I'm watching 144p. I just want to thank you for telling us the differences. It helped a lot.
They did a great job on sound improvement though, that announcer on the Miami level was brilliant. The reverb in the orchestra hall, phenomenal. They really tuned the reverb and bass for H3. Great job. More depth to the world

I'm currently finally doing a Master Silent Assassin playthrough. It's actually really fun and challenging on Master with no UI help.

@@ActNasty5 There are a lot of random stuff you can do. Besides, there are still interaction prompts, and many of the "Stories" are easy to follow without map guidance. I agree I would have a preferred a more dynamic environment, but Master with little/no UI ads in quite a bit of challenge. The normal modes are too easy for me to continuosly pay attention.

I think having the Hitman 3 suit combined with the Hitman 2 face would make the perfect Agent 47 but that’s just my opinion.
He looks fine. People look younger than what our brains expect them to be. My mom is almost 50 and she looks like she's in her mid-30s, and so do most of her friends. We can't tell the difference between a person in their late 20s and and others in their early to mid-30s. If you consider that fact, it makes this guy look more realistic. If he's in his late 40s/early 50s, he should look around 30 at first glance and only when you look at the details you'd see the little wrinkles and fine lines that would tell you he's older, just like in Hitman 3.
I would go back and take another look at these things once the game actually releases. The small details you were showing are usually some of the final things worked on leading up to release and may even come in the day zero patch. A game can change a lot in the final 3-4 weeks of development.
Yeah these games have been patched a ton. I came to get a look at a video, and this one is probably too old to compare everything now.

This shows how much we "need" raytracing... Don´t get me wrong, it is the way forward, but right now the performance hit is just ridiculous. I much prefer good SSR right now.
Raytracing is much more than just reflection. For example refraction and indirect lighting, but also area lights are things which raytracing enables or heavily improves.
Currently light sources are always point based. In addition to that raytracing has the potential to produce much more realistic particle effects and interactions of the particles and the light. And when using current tech some shadows are not visible, which makes objects look as if they're separate from the background. Especially in places which are in shady areas the shading becomes much more realistic.
And something which the player might not notice is that also the development process gets simplified. Currently developers need to fine tune lighting in many cases and often need to add faked shadows, but with raytracing this isn't required anymore. At least not to this extent.

@@knowingbadger When it's fully utilized it imo is worth it. Take a look at Cyberpunk. The game is mediocre, but the raytracing is really well implemented and it makes a huge difference. And I see no reason for not utilizing raytracing options nowadays.
@@ThePandafriend It makes a huge difference on shadows in Cyberpunk. Lighting is improved but the baked lighting already looks really good. There's different types of rtx and so far no games have utilized them all at once. Like rtx audio is a thing but I haven't heard it done yet and I think that one is definitely a must have for immersion
Ray traced reflections are the most basic implementation of all types of ray tracing. Shadows and global illumination are what I'm hoping we'll see some console games be able to do in the future. Sadly, it's not looking good as game as after game is just reflections.

7:20 thats done for optimization. Because developers place foliage just about everywhere, it makes a big hit to the perfomance, while the mesh itself is small. Thats why developers turn off shadows for foliage.
It also can cause absolutely horrendous flickering shadows if low resolution.
Hitman in VR sounds insane. Like that's actually something new and fresh in hitman series.

For what it's worth, I don't think 47's head texture has diminished in quality - rather, it appears his skin is using subsurface scattering, which allows light to pass through the surface and has the effect of softening the appearance of super fine details.
Technically this would be a visual upgrade, but the effect might be a bit too prominent and is resulting in a more waxy/soft appearance.
The fire effects were improved greatly actually
I love how hitman has been combining games with their sequels. I think more games sould take this lession. Ive allways wanted to see games absorb the previous games into it for many series. I think it should be the way of the future.

Agent Lightyear. The ambient occlusion looks improved.
The reflections at around 8:03 show things that are off screen, so those are clearly not screen space reflections.
SSR can only show you reflections of things on screen - hence the name.
They either use planar reflections and render the geometry twice or they use RT.

A red and yellow HUD color scheme is my favorite change. Pink and yellow doesn't cut it.

This was really informative. I might just load up hitman 2 and complete some expansion maps rather than wait for Hitman 3 to support importing them for free. HM3 doesnt look that much different.
Everything is way better apart from the shadows in the grass and some lighting issues and once the slight downgrade of hitman. Genuinely VERY impressed IOI
