Fun fact: The bloom becomes a lot worse at higher resolutions. Just go find something that glows with bloom (say, the downlights behind the house in the Nightfall level in Hitman 2) and pay attention to what the bloom looks like. Turn up the resolution via DSR/VSR or turn up the supersampling - the bloom now obtains a color cast (blue bloom becomes more pink, etc) and becomes considerably stronger. Not sure why... I've also discovered some floating horse statues in the Paris level in Hitman 2 (room with the missing lens blogger, the attic, etc). It's very weird... I actually prefer the original Paris fountain too. I also didn't notice my Sapienza looking this dull. But, then again, I only bought the second game fairly recently - perhaps it was improved in the last half a year. Overall I enjoy the fact that Hitman 2 contains the previous levels. You can amass quite the arsenal that way. Couple that with the improved gameplay mechanics (suitcases, mirrors, tall grass, etc) and you've got yourself a new layer of replayability. Overall - great job!
Play both and I'm sure you'll actually prefer Hitman 2, not the same watching it here on UA-cam, also it runs better and improved sound A LOT, seriously, weapons sound a lot more realistic, everything sounds less compressed and noticeably clearer.

Good news: In the February game update, all the Legacy maps had significant lighting changes. Maps like Colorado and Bangkok aren't as good as they were in Season 1, but it's still better. Plus, Sapienza looks almost the same as the previous game now.
Wow Hitman 2 sounds much better to me. However the Graphics and Lighting are better in Hitman 1, but honestly, while playing I didn’t notice anything. Exept the big Bloom and Lens Flare effects.
i like the silenced gunshot changes, its way more silent now and has more like a "phew" sound then a "puhhhh" sound. I also like the difference when u shot the wall, in the first one u barely heard the concrete in the wall, while in the second one u clearly hear the sound of concrete breaking to pieces. Same with the glass, in the first one it sounded more like it was only one sound effect when u shot it, while in the second one it was multiple and all the pieces had their own sound effect when they individually hit the ground
Well, a silent gun isn't what it's supposed to be. It's a pistol with a suppressor on it. That doesn't make guns silent. Not even close. It - watch this - *suppresses* the amount of noise the gunshot makes.
@@PimpMatt0 I've noticed this and mentioned it many times in multiple comment threads... What I've also noticed from the replies is that younger gamers prefer the oversaturation, where as older gamers prefer the muted colours. Can't tell whether this is just due to familiarity though.
The reverb on the pistol is absolutely ridiculous, not only is he standing in a small well padded room, but the reverb doesn't even change when he shoots the windows out
It's good. Except his face does still look odd. He has this weird smile, inocent looking face. It just feels of. He has to look scary & emotionless, Absolution/blood money nailed it. His suit texture is shit. It's just unacceptable by the standard of the previous game. The lighting looks way more serious. Which i like, the overblown colours of hitman 1 made the game look goofy as hell. AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, BRING JESPER KYD BACK. The music is way too action packed, we need dark themed music as before. that, that just.. made the atmosphere of the franchise.
I agree on the music part. I absolutely love Jesper KYD soundtrack. The music for Hitman 2 Silent Assassin was almost a gameplay element of its own. The problem is you can't have natural sounds on that sort of soundtrack. Because the music is supposed to play over the environment.
i think the downgrades in certain aspects are symptoms of a reduced budget, which is also likely why the prerendered cutscenes are not actually animated in HITMAN 2.
It's hard because they didn't have to include all previous locations to the Season 2. Just imagine Season 3. Will there be all 12 locations from Hitman and Hitman 2? It's ridiculous.
Yeah it sort of made anyone that bought Season 1 feel like they wasted money if they bought it late. Most of the S1 bonus content isn't available anymore either so if you have the Legacy Pack, there's pretty much no reason to play S1.
@@TitoMcFadden I'd like to play S2, but only if all of hard recieved achievements from S1 will be unlocked automatically. It'll be great motivation for me.
@@TitoMcFadden The only way to get the S1 levels in Hitman 2 is to either buy them or already have S1, therefore you're not wasting any money, it's just a way to make it easier to play S1 and S2 and also takes less place on your hard drive than having both games installed And buying only S1 is less pricey than buying S1+2 so there's still a reason to play S1, only if you don't have S2
@DChief94 Right? The textures are generally improved or the exact same, and the lighting system changed a bit. That translates to "everything is worse in this game", particularly when you don't look at the new levels.
@@AgeofJP Pretty much this I think. I would assume the new maps were designed for whatever lighting/post-processing/bloom effects and whatnot they've changed between 2016 and now, so they suit it no problem, but some of those things that have changed just make the Legacy maps look ugly is all.
I think it would've been worth at least visiting some of the new levels, as ports are less likely to get a full graphical boost. (Although in this case some things are a step back). But on the new levels of hitman 2 some really impressive effects are displayed, such as the TV lighting reflections in the opening level.
except in the first comparison clip where I thought hitman 1 sounded better but the rest was hard to tell. The shooting clip comparison in hitman 2 sounded a bit muzzled .
"The suit seems to have been reduced in quality". No idea what you're talking about there. The breast pocket is no longer jagged, the seams and tie are no longer cartoonishly large, and the texture is no longer so over-emphasized. I think what you are perceiving is just that the design is so much more proportionate than what you're accustomed to seeing in a video game, and you are just accustomed to seeing less proportionate features in character models. Tegarding the wrinkles, a decent suit won't have any wrinkles in that posture anyway. 47 is legit just wearing a better suit with a better cut.
Apparently, people in this comment section just overlooks the amount of content added and just complain about how a slight and unnoticeable lighting change downgraded the game.
Can we also add the ability to throw guns? I legit tried to toss a gun off a ledge earlier and spent like 10 minutes trying to figure out how, only to realize it's not even a feature.
Bloom - Lens Flare - Color grading in Hitman 2: There's no other way to put this: They messed em up. It's not J.J. Abrams levels - but really - they had it right and threw it all away.
The legacy pack of HITMAN 2 has changed some details. In the Paris level the bar place, there will be an extra waitress who will be able to see through your disguise. And the graphics has changed a little bit. I like HTMAN 2 better. The reason that they reduce some details like flame for the optimization. Or PC will lag.
@@manuelobando8689 Strongly agree. Blood money is always the best. i was using AMD 3000+, 6800GT 1GB memory to run it under high settings 10 years ago. I can never forget that the Eve killed me from the dance with devil.
@Lord Eddy, pretty much guaranteed you say that cuz you played Absolution first. Absolution is the out of place one in the series, the new Hitman games return to what the series always was, big open levels where you get to find creative ways of dispatching your target.
I like pretty much all of the changes. The signature suit does look worse but some of the clothes look and move better. There is a slightly different version of the Winter Suit in the game and it looks a lot better than the one in Hitman 1. Some areas do look weird with the overly bright lighting but i prefer it in some of the areas. The flares are definitely better in my opinion because the smoke really didn't look that great, especially in comparison with other recent games. The filter definitely reminds me of Absolution and while it does decrease some of the detail, i think it gives the game more "soul". The graphics were great in Hitman 1 but they also felt pretty bleak overall in my opinion. The game really shines with the new Hitman 2 locations.
The only thing I wished they put in the newer hitman games was 47’s walking animation from absolution. Idk why but his walking animation just seems off to me in the newer games. I can’t really pinpoint it tho
Shame about the suit downgrade with the textures. I quite like the bloom stuff depending on the location. It looks quite impressive in Marrakesh, I feel it works because it's a place full of pollution/smog etc so would expect to see some atmospheric lighting going on. Same with the Paris map with the smoke machines tho was a little over done. As for the color tone in Sapienza it feels more like the color tones cause by different times of day like golden hour and blue hour etc etc. Defo looks better with what appears to be more contrast and AO in the buildings and models/textures in general. With the smoke in Marrakesh, maybe they felt the smoke was over done in the first game so toned it down a bit or something along those lines. Didn't seem to be much loss in smoke quality just seemed to be toned down a bit so wasn't as much smoke about.
@@carpito3264 yea? well that lamp/decoration on the bar in paris shows exactly how bad they FUCKED UP. That light is affecting far more area than it should, and also bleaches out too many details. IDC about their stupid flares, that's a far less noticeable change than the horrid bloom in paris.
One improvement Hitman 2 has is that no NPC sounds the same, where in Hitman 1 you couldn’t walk two steps without hearing Yuri Lowenthal’s voice and it really broke the immersion of being in another country where everyone barely even sound like where the game’s locations takes place in. In Hitman 2 the NPCs not only have accents but also speak their native languages at times.

Ik many will go as far to compare this to fifa. "eveRy YeaR sAme gAme". Which isn't fair or true. Fifa is a game with no new content and same concept while hitman 2 is a game with same concept but loads of new content and few improvements.
The flares are probably reduced, because you couldnt see sh*t.
I would like the lighting in hitman 2 more but there is a filter that kind of ruins it. The parts that should be bright, seem to be filtered dirty.
If you've ever used flares they dont give off that much smoke if much at all lol it's mostly red glare
Maybe, but neither game really looks realistic if you're talking about a real flare. The smoke effects just look more impressive, even if they're not as realistic.
Holy shit is that a Metal Arms profile picture?
@@Nick930 the 2nd one was closer I personally liked the darker color palette of hitman 2 it reminded me of a time IOI gave us there masterpiece contracts a dark gloomy world with psychopaths and murderers no vibrant colors or peaceful looking environments.
That's one thing I noticed about your comparison video and it actually made me a little happy thinking someone thought the same thing as me and that shit was too brightly colored for a game about murder and assassination. Sucks that the models were downgraded for textures in environments to go up a little bit

Let's not sugarcoat it. Hitman 1 looked better.
+Robert Rankins he didn't say that the game better, use your eyes boyo

Hitman 2 has tons of content, including the whole hitman 1 campain, so is normal to have a downgrade in graphics in order not to have a 200 gb game
Really it has..
i like the silenced gunshot changes, its way more silent now and has more like a "phew" sound then a "puhhhh" sound.
The new silenced gunshot is kinda crappy because its a bit too silent. Its sound like it has no punch
Ye sounds a bit better as you described but the reverb isn’t fitting indoors, sounds like the gun is being shot in some large and empty warehouse
Well, a silent gun isn't what it's supposed to be. It's a pistol with a suppressor on it. That doesn't make guns silent. Not even close. It - watch this - *suppresses* the amount of noise the gunshot makes.
@@Hunk62 Yeah, and then there's the fact that suppressors aren't necessarily quiet
You mean suppressed?
Tbh I just smoke all my targets with a silenced pistol
i like the more realistic colours in hitman 2, the first one was too colourful imo
Last generation: mostly brown and grey.
This generation: mostly colorful, sometimes too colorful.
I've noticed it as a trend.
@@PimpMatt0 yeah i've noticed that too
@@PimpMatt0 Grey works for hitman given what it's about. They just have to learn which games to make colorful and which to make dark and grey
@@PimpMatt0 ehhh i like the popping colors !
@@PimpMatt0 I've noticed this and mentioned it many times in multiple comment threads... What I've also noticed from the replies is that younger gamers prefer the oversaturation, where as older gamers prefer the muted colours. Can't tell whether this is just due to familiarity though.
The reverb on the pistol is absolutely ridiculous, not only is he standing in a small well padded room, but the reverb doesn't even change when he shoots the windows out
The Signature suit is bit of a pain but other suits have been repaired and look great
I did like absolution, pretty good gameplay and nice story until the ending, was ok.. and also 47 looks better, little bit old but better.
@@Rainhands22 How is that a problem if it works for hitman before? :p
@Pat Barker And his eyes actually move
Lmao we have the same name
i think the downgrades in certain aspects are symptoms of a reduced budget, which is also likely why the prerendered cutscenes are not actually animated in HITMAN 2.
That explosion sounds a lot more scary in the second game imo.
You missed how the sound is different when pulling out a pistol!
All seasons under one launcher with shared improvements and updates. Kind of like the MCC collection.

@@TitoMcFadden The only way to get the S1 levels in Hitman 2 is to either buy them or already have S1, therefore you're not wasting any money, it's just a way to make it easier to play S1 and S2 and also takes less place on your hard drive than having both games installed
And buying only S1 is less pricey than buying S1+2 so there's still a reason to play S1, only if you don't have S2

these were comparisons on the reused Hitman 1 maps...what I've seen from the new maps looks much better than the old ones
The lighting system of it makes me feel that we go back to the Hitman: Absolution's lighting system
4:25 I had never noticed there were flares in that level before.
I think it would've been worth at least visiting some of the new levels, as ports are less likely to get a full graphical boost. (Although in this case some things are a step back). But on the new levels of hitman 2 some really impressive effects are displayed, such as the TV lighting reflections in the opening level.
Hitman 2s sound design is a definite improvement
except in the first comparison clip where I thought hitman 1 sounded better but the rest was hard to tell. The shooting clip comparison in hitman 2 sounded a bit muzzled .
Hitman 2 sounds better except that echo with the bullets
Hitman 2's explosion sound was amazing.
There's definitely things I prefer about each of them. It's pretty tough to just have an overall preference. I can't say I do.

Steve080501 Sí, yo sí :v

We need First Person View and elevators in the buildings!
And dogs, and human shield-ing.
Yeah , why does hitman 2016 doesn't have an elevators in any levels
Can we also add the ability to throw guns? I legit tried to toss a gun off a ledge earlier and spent like 10 minutes trying to figure out how, only to realize it's not even a feature.

Go check out the Agent 47 model in the New levels.
The only thing I wished they put in the newer hitman games was 47’s walking animation from absolution. Idk why but his walking animation just seems off to me in the newer games. I can’t really pinpoint it tho
A subtle use of bloom can make a game look much nicer but if you go even a hair overboard, it becomes distracting

No, the bloom just looks horrible. Paris and that bar alone shows how horrible it is.
