Would a failed temp sensor cause the coolant fan not to turn on ? . My gauge works fine but the coolant fan doesn't kick on when the thermostat opens or is it common for the 2.4L coolant fan not to turn on?. Matter of fact both coolant fans come on when I switch over to AC but either 1 comes on when the thermostat opens and the gauge is in normal reading .
Before changing any part give it a little clean ..by using crc electronic cleaner and let it dry for 3 minutes and apply crc dielectric grease for sealing and good conductivity.. in my case coolant temp sensor was causing rough idle and poor gas mileage instead changing i tried cleaning and greasing..and miracle happened i got good mpg and nice idling..
Thank you for your videos but it would help if you would also do a video on the V6 model of those years...completely different locations for some of the sensors. Thanks.
Good video and instructions but one thing would make it better. Camera should have started with a wider view of the engine and then zoom in to the area where the sensor is. That would give the viewer a better sense of where it is. At this point I'm not sure if the camera was in front of the engine or on left or right side so I cannot easily tell where the sensor is. It also would be nice if they would have said if that is the 4-cylinder or the V6 engine.
Both of the radiator fans stopped working on my 2000 camry CE. We thought it may have been the coolant temp sensor, since the fuse behind the change drawer and relays worked. It was actually the COOLANT FAN SWITCH with two prongs that is located at the bottom of the radiator on the passenger side.
Thanks for the video. On the other hand, my 01 Camry, has both cooling fans on all the times. I replaced the same one you replace, because it has a broken wire but the fans still come on all the times. Is there another temp sensor that screwed into at the bottom of the radiator? Thanks
I know this is late but there is another 2 pin fan relay switch sensor located at the bottom passenger side of the radiator. 9/10 times that's the reason the fans always stick on. Better change it fast or it will will the fans if they are constantly on.

I have a P0128 code for 05 murano,it’s a thermostat related issue. It takes a little too long for the car to reach its maximum temperature, because the thermostat stuck open. Does this cause the car to burn extra fuel? I noticed the car has burned extra fuel...
That's what I'm trying to figure out .I believe the single wire to the left controls the gauge and the dual wire on the right controls the fans. Does anyone know if the plug on the bottom of the radiator is another switch or just a plug for the wires??

Hello, excuse my English, my camry 3vz-fe 3000cc has a flaw. The cold start injector does not inject (only with direct current) the temperature gauge needle, it goes up when I accelerate, the 3 temperature sensors have anything to do with this? Thank you
Will this cause my car to shut down while driving? I lost all power to my car and couldnt turn it back on. There was no power like my battery died, but then I detached the battery cable and put back then my car started. Maybe my alternators bad?
What was the problem? I think it can when the engine is cold bc the computer doesn't register the engine as cold and the fuel mixture runs rich. If your spark plugs have dry carbon buildup then that indicates your fuel mixture is rich.
It caused mine to shut down like someone turned the key off. Just instant power loss and engine shutdown seconds after. I believe the computer is being told the engine is overheating and shuts it off. At least when I replaced this sensor, it stopped doing it.
Have a question for you. I read that the thermostat has to be changed when the coolant heat sensor needs to be changed. Is this true? My thermostat is 21 years old. The Camry was given to me by my cousin it was his father's Camry.
Would a bad temp sensor cause my temperature gauge to go up when idling? but when I'm driving the temperature gauge goes down and back to the middle. It did cause my check engine light to come come on some point, I took it to autozone and it came up with the code that it's the sensor. My check engine light hasnt came back on but now it's my temp gauge that's going up. I havent replaced it.
I have been pushing down and then pulling on the green connector, but I cannot get it to come off the sensor. Do you have a video on how to remove the green connector?
+repj44 The sensor works by measuring the temperature that's being given off by the thermostat and/or the coolant itself. ... From there, your vehicle's computer will use this temperature information to either continue operating or adjust certain engine functions, always working to keep the engine temperature at an ideal level.
I took my 2010 Camry to the Toyota dealer and they diagnosed my cooling sensor to be the issue of my temperature gauge going so high almost one line before it hits red, the temperature gauge kept going up and down and was never down to C anymore when my car was home all night before going to work!
I have a 2000 Toyota Sienna, and the fans don't come one during Idle, they only come one when the heater is turned on. So the coolant just keeps expanding in the coolant expansion tank until it begins to spill even if it is at a proper coolant level.. Could this sensor be the reason why the fans don't come on during idle?
Try removing the plug from the sensor. Turn the car on for maybe a minute. If the fan kicks on the temp. sensor could be faulty. If not check your relays fuse links and wiring.
Will this cause a car not to start ? I have a 97 Camry and this sensor broke after I changed ignition coils I didn’t realize it broke until the next day (it ran fine after spark plugs and ignition coils) but cold start next morning absolutely wouldn’t turn over and noticed this sensor was broke is this the reason my car won’t start even though it worked the day before broken?
hello, i replaced the engine coolant temp sensor after i got code P0115. The fans were not coming on for the radiator. I am still getting the same code and no fans. If i disconnect the plug below the fan plug they will run all the time. As soon as i reconnect i hear the relay and they turn off. Any suggestions?
I just bought a 96 s10 with a 2.2 liter v4. My temperature gauge didn't work at all so I replaced the engine coolant sensor. Now with the new sensor after the engine runs for about a minute and a half the gauge goes past redline even though the engine itself is cold. What else should I do? Did I purchase a faulty engine coolant sensor?

I have a Ford Ranger does the thermostat have the same job and can it run alright without it, on two engines I have had them burn up because the thermostat shut down and the over heated. this seems to be a very bad problem with thermostats.
+Ladonna Steele Hi there, that's a great question! Thanks for asking. The job of an engine's thermostat is basically to restrict or allow coolant to flow from the radiator into the engine block depending on the operating temperature of the motor. When you first start your car in the morning, your engine is quite cool, as such it doesn't need to be kept cooled down by the coolant. In a cool engine the thermostat is closed, keeping the coolant in the radiator. But as the engine warms up and approaches its operating temperature (typically about 200 degrees Fahrenheit), the thermostat opens up and allows the coolant to flow freely into the engine in order to keep it from overheating and getting ruined. A common sign that your thermostat has gone bad is the engine overheating shortly after starting the vehicle. This indicates the thermostat is stuck closed and your engine will be destroyed as it will be running way too hot. The other way these often fail is by being stuck open. This is evidenced by the temperature never reaching operating temperature, so your temp. gauge doesn't move up to the normal zone. This keeps the engine running too cool, which means the oil never gets to the optimal operating temperature either. If the oil isn't warm enough, it can't reach all the places it needs to reach, and allows for premature wear on the engine. So in either case it's very important to replace the thermostat immediately. All that to say, you should not (and really cannot) operate a vehicle for long without a thermostat. They're a very important component to keeping the engine running at the appropriate temperature. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393

I can’t help but feel like this isn’t normal and that it would do damage to the engine. Can someone explain why the car does this and if it’s fixable if not? I can’t find an answer. Also, my cars temp gauge goes down when I’m driving if it’s cold outside, and it goes down enough to where my heat is affected and starts coming out cooler as the gauge gets colder, the gauge gets very close to the cold mark until I come to a stop where it can warm up. How about skipping the oral part and put them as clickable links on the video so we can get better replacement info. It’s now 4 times I’ve heard about your website, which was 3 more times than was actually spent on the repair itself. It’s maddening to sit thru 4 mins of self-adulation for 30 seconds of “unhook, take off, screw in and replace connection. I think we all know that. How about showing where the item is in more detail, maybe showing what problems may occur during the R n R, tips n tricks so to say? You guys are obviously knowledgeable but it’s getting bad when the actual repair is secondary to the advertisement portion of the video.

+KING REED Thank you for watching. When the gray harness will not separate you must press on the tab with your finger, or a screwdriver and pull apart. 1aauto.com
This is a must

I want to see the coolant fan switch of this car because my fan are always on and the relays are ok.
+Adriano Ventura We do not have a video for this repair right now, but we'll keep this request in mind for a future video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Is this the Dane for a 2001 Toyota Corolla
+EMC SINATRA X The part in this video fits your application, and the install should be the same or similar!
Can it cause an engine to stall?
yes it can
I tried to unplug while running, and the car stalls shortly after that, so yeah.
Can P0115 cause overheating?
Thanks for checking us out. Yes, it is possible that an issue with the coolant temperature sensor would cause the engine to overhear. Hope this helps you out. +Javontae Kelson
Where is the temperature coolant sensor located on 2001 Toyota corolla
No lock tight needed?🤔
No location information, looked for several mins cannot find it.
Whats the one to the left of ot called?
What the one to the left of it called
How to change the temperature sensor of 2003 toyota matriz xr
Where should the temperature sensor Be located in a V6 Camry?
+Axel Dominguez Thanks for watching! There should be one below where you add coolant into the system. It will be attached to a 2-prong connector. 1aauto.com
Thanks So much i found it.
I cant get it off. Ended up breaking the lip
Same. What did you end up doing? I am considering zipties.
Hi I have a 2001 Camry that over heated and had to replaced the water pump and thermostat and also change the sensor down on the radiator. It is still over heating and am not sure if the sensor in the video will take care of the problem.
+Justin Smith Thank you for checking us out. This could possibly be the reason of your issue if those other components were replaced. 1aauto.com
Have you checked the freeze plugs?
Is this the same on 2003 Camry ???? I can’t find it 😟
+5am Sam It may be a different procedure on your application. We currently do not have an auto repair video for this particular year, make and model. Thank you for asking. 1aauto.com
show me a video on 2003 toyota matrix
Can’t it cause a po420 code or po430?
+M B Thanks for watching! Those codes are related to the catalyst system, so the coolant temperature sensor would be an unlikely culprit! 1aauto.com
Thanks
P1233 Ford???
My old one was snapped in half
You have the years wrong. Toyota changed the model of Camry in 2002, and the engine is different.
Does this fit a1990 lexus
+Tania Andreasen The part shown in the video does list to fit some 1990 model Lexus, but you will want to double check on the website. It should be the same or a similar procedure. Here is a link to them on our website. Hope this helps you out. www.1aauto.com/coolant-temperature-sensor/i/1atsu00014?UA-cam&CTA+Comment&WCyJEE
Ok I’m losing my damn mind. Why can I ONLY find info on the ECT that connects to the engine block and not the actual temperature switch that runs the fans?? Istg Google is dumb as hell and keeps sending me to this part. I want the other part that connects to the radiator on passenger side. Where’s that part???
When i drive my car runs fine then out of nowhere my temperature gauge and all idols dropped to zero and then it goes back to normal and then messes up again. Any advise anyone? Plz🙏
Fuel pump might be failing, but change the temperature sensor first
Your sensor turned green somehow...
👍
this is not 1992 Camry this 1998 Toyota Camry
sensor is half your price on Amazon. Only mention this cause you told me to but it from you like a dozen times...shameless self promotion
this isnt a 2002 camry lol
Ok so the unending commercial crap has got to stop. We all know what link we clicked. We all know you carry these parts.
This is a terrible video
What's the white sensor called next to it
Anybody know what the one to the left of that one is? Sensor.
