Really great video and great content so nice to see happy workers and a well organised dairy farm, would be interesting to see your equipment you have on farm and what work you contract out to be done. Thanks
Great to see pasture qualiyu and quantity is front and centre of your feed program. It will ensure the farm maximises the $ retained to reward you for the efforts the team put in.
@SingleTreeDairiesNZ Great experience for these guys. Very little farms of your scale here and they will learn so many life skills with you. Keep up the good work.
Hi there. Just a question regarding 24 hour breaks. What happens if a herd requires less grass per day than there is in a paddock e.g. they need a 6ha break and the paddock is 7.5ha, what would you do with that left over 1.5ha? Great videos as always, I really enjoy them. Will you make a video when it come to regrassing and sowing fodder beet? Cheers!
@@harryparish5960 great question👍 This does happen and we are happy to adjust by giving them a night break and a day break in this case. We have tried to make a policy that cows will only get moved to a new paddock in the morning if they are short on area. So if there was 1.5ha left they would generally graze that in the morning and move to another smaller break until pm milking. Then back to a big 24hr break if that makes sense👍 With the exception of our young Herd 1 cows that quite often have am/pm breaks as they have to walk the furthest to cowshed so they have a day break closet to shed. Regarding Fodderbeet, we have only 6ha gone in this season already and contractor planted in middle of night so I missed getting footage😅 Around 36ha has been regrassed this season (last year's fodderbeet pds plus 24ha of sprayed out regrassing). I'll get some footage of these paddocks coming up.
Great
Great video mate
Mate, this is one of your best videos yet - packed with info! So much more to it than meets the eye.

Mate, what sort of cross(es) are those cows? Wide variety of coats there!
Great vidio what bulls r u using with ai at mo? What is your freasian 2 Jersey ratio?
Thanks Justine, we just use standard LIC Kiwi cross Forward pack over the bulk of the herd and some Hereford over lower BW cows.
Any reason you went for the Allflex collars instead of the ear tags?
Collars seem to have more detailed and reliable data particularly with Rumination👍 From what we have heard anyway
Great videos. Getting my guys to watch them and we’re all learning heaps. Whats you production doing this year?
@@tommawle8896 we up from last year currently and hoping to end up finishing being ahead by 6-8%. 2100-2200ms/ha
Nice see your video
How is you production per cow?
@@Grass_Milk currently doing 2.15MS/cow or 9MS/ha 👍
