This is exactly what I was looking for. The captain america in Civil war comparison finally made me understand this alignment. I never had it clear, thank you!
I'm glad I could be of help! I've been of a mind for some time now of making more alignment videos; new examples, new outlooks, better presentation, etc. Go forth, my friend, and have fun!
@@GamersDenLoremaster I would love to see such content!! Alignments are, in the end, a simplification of the complex mind a character may have in creative writing, so having someone give as many examples as possible is always appreciated by someone like me, newcomer to character creation =)
Absolutely a good pick for Neutral Good. Certainly works with Law Enforcement and does his best to assist through less than legal means. But never with the intention of breaking the law, just protecting his loved ones.
I see the Neutral focus as being a focus towards desiring change. As such a neutral good character wants to see and will work towards seeing changes to society for progress towards building what they envision as a better world.
I used to want my Dragonborn to be chaotic good, but awhile after my first failed campaign using him I didn’t get much of any other chance to use the guy. As I talked with the other group members, they said they thought he was in the neutral good alignment, so now I’m just trying to figure out how to do alignments more effectively
Alignments are just such a tricky thing, it can be hard to pin down accurately. Hell, I go back and forth on it a lot. Certainly doesn't help that so much of "morality" can be subjective personally and socially and will radically alter depending on context. I tend to be a little bit loose on it myself, except in specific circumstances, such as Paladins.
I don't know if you watch anime or not, but one neutral good anime character that I can think of is Izuku Midoriya (Hero name Deku). The reason I believe this is because that while he believes in the good of the law, and despite almost everyone around him preaching to him that the law is the most important thing in this hero society, a majority of the time in the anime he finds himself disregarding the law and sometimes even going against it to save his friends and other heroes from dangerous villains, and one time he even took 4 of his friends to help bust out another friend of his that got kidnapped by the main villains despite his school, the authorities, and even national heroes telling him and every other students to not get involved and leave it to the professionals.
My NG Wizard had Thayvian roots. Good because he was disgusted in the evils of Thayan culture but Neutral because Thayan BLC(borders, language, culture) have some beauty. A Good character but also a somewhat sophisticated man of culture. Comparable to Picard.
Name: Voric Altunrakić Alignment: Neutral Good I have many similarities with the men you call Republicans. I mourned the losses of life in the wars fought by oppressive empires, the constant wars between right belief and wrong belief. I've always thought that those wars were missing the whole point, though these beliefs seem to be strong and stubbornly fought over. Unlike the Republicans, however, I never gave up on the gods. For a while, I've lived in a monastery, in which I grew closer to the gods as the nation was tearing itself apart. In this monastic life, I realized something important. I shouldn't stand apart from the rest of the world, I must do something. So, I enlisted with the Republican Guard as a part of the moderates, seeking to reform the Revolution into something better. I send charity to smaller villages that truly need it, giving voice to the voiceless in the name of the gods. Afterall, the Patriarch of Triune Orthodoxy does not need an Empire.
Lawful goods feel like they have to be good. Chaotic goods choose to be good even against urges. Neutral goods... are just good. They don't have to try or justify it. Its their nature.
Thank you! I'm thinking about revisiting alignments in some fashion. Maybe focus more on picking out specific characters from across t.v., film, video games and books and breaking down what makes them fit in specific alignments.

@@SondaroSasuke I'll do my best to accommodate then! And absolutely: Broadly written to fit a wide diversity of general "types".
Spider-man is the first person I think of when I hear neutral good

What of chaotic?
@@peopleskingdomofwolcottia chaotic would be the disregarding of societal norms and laws while trying to accomplish goals.
