    • @Olga_Ovechkina
      @Olga_Ovechkina 2 роки тому +16

      The Victorian period lasted over 60 years, with the fashionable silhouette changing every 5-10 years. So the dress could be very different, and you better decide which decade you are interested in :)

    • @Olga_Ovechkina
      @Olga_Ovechkina Рік тому +1

      @@KM-rt5jj No. Fashion then was not just some new trends that many people like. Fashion was an analogue of decency, so that no woman who belonged to a decent society could ignore it.
      And if in the 1850s everyone wore crinolines, in the 1870s-1880s bustles, then the debutantes did the same. And I only mentioned two periods, but in fact in the 19th century in each decade there was a different silhouette of dresses and different fashion.

      Stop! One minute! - I'm always happy to watch your movies and admire your projects, but I have to refer to what you showed in the last part of this movie, how you planned the cuts of the fabric - the latter in stripes :) This is wool as far as I remember. all materials, except those with a plain weave - they cannot be used to cut parts of one garment in two different directions. On fabrics such as velvet, it is obvious, but in the case of cloth or fabrics made of worsted wool, the hair always runs in one direction. If you ignore this rule, it may be that the two different parts of the skirt or jacket will have a different shade depending on the lighting. To check this, place or hang the material so that you can see it in natural light "both ways", next to you. It would be a pity such high-quality fabric. Best regards, I am second to all your projects

    My mother taught me to sew on her mother's Singer Featherweight machine in time for me to sew all of my own clothes for the start of high school in 1970, minus my favorite pair of Levi's 501s. I ended up making a lot of tops and dresses, including prom and wedding dresses, for friends. I find your videos so incredibly educational and entertaining! I can't get enough. Thank you!

    I love the work room videos. I learned to sew from ladies who were born in the Edwardian Era. And they were taught by ladies sewing in the Victorian Era. My grandmother posed for photos in the 1880s and 1890s. Beautiful inset lace blouses and black walking skirts. And perhaps some split skirts as she drove to work in her personal single hitch trap. A beautiful lady who blessed her daughters and grand daughters with thick brunette hair and lovely complexions. And she was an accomplished seamstress by hand and with an 1890s treadle. In the 1950s, I learned to sew on a similar treadle. As I watch your videos. I see so many skills I learned between ages 5 and 10. I love your content!!!!!
