- Testing my new recurve bow which I bought from AliExpress for around €60.
This bow is really good for a the price. 50lbs power is plenty for me but the kids are struggling to pull the string :) Enjoy!
www.aliexpress...
i just bought the same bow 50lb and was amazed how hard it was to pull back and how fast the arrows went.very powerfull bow
@Steve Baker Enjoy your new bow, yeah it is quite powerful. Soon I will test some Chinese arrows (Musen) and put it on youtube.
@@EjderAdventures yeah i subscribed now so anything you put up i will watch.plus i am Australian so hello from Australia lol
@@steveb2915 Cheers mate :)
what brand is it?
@@EjderAdventures what brand is it and where i can find it?
Nothing like spending the day with Pops.
I just bought a Martin Jaguar elite 40 pound bow almost a week ago , I haven’t got it yet but when I do I’m going to start shooting from my neighbors back deck into my yard , it’s around 25 yard , then I’m going to move up to 30 yards then 40 yards . I know , I know people all over say you can,t shoot a recurve over 20 yards with accuracy but I’ve seen Kramer Ammons shoot a recurve well over 40 yards with accuracy on UA-cam so I know it can be done . This whole summer I’m going to be shooting 100 arrows a day & get tight grouping from 10 , 20 , 30 , & 40 yards moving up only when I get a very tight grouping 3 times in a row . I plan to maybe hunt hog in a few years , I have to have a total hip replacement in around 6 months or so & it takes around 2 years to get back to normal .
Good job getting out with your boy. Nice draw too .
You are one very good archer. I didn't know shooting at 10m is that far. I want to start archery and your video gives me a good glimpse of how 50lbs draw weight is like. Thank you and your archery skill is really good.
Thanks for the kind words Win Tan. I do it for fun and it really is fun watching your arrow fly! :)
Don't begin with a 50#lb bow whatever you do, 25 to 30lb and build up from there
@David Munir I would start with a 35# bow and work on your form first.
You can buy a recurve riser with different weight limbs 👌🏻
@David Munir nice congrats 🏹
From personal experience i can tell you that 50lbs is to heavy for almost anyones first bow.
Ive been shooting for a couple years now and im just starting to get good. Why, you might ask? Because my first bow was 45lbs. So as to put this in perspective, im 6'4", 205lbs with a 28.5" draw(narrow shoulders). Im no weakling.
The thing is that the muscle groups used to pull a bow are muscles that arnt really used for much else in day to day life.
I unknowingly was fighting that bow. My form suffered as a consequence. It was so frustrating trying so hard to get better and having piss poor results. Finaly, i got back into the gym, started lifting with a heavy emphasis on traps, lats and rhomboids. As the bow started to "feel" lighter, my shooting improved.
Now i shoot a 50lbs bow and shoot it well. If i had started out a little lighter than i did, i would be an even better shot today.
Dont let ego get in the way of learning the fundamentals the way i did.
Incredible 40 meter shot. Well done.
Man are you talented with that bow. I ordered the same 50lb bow from toparchery and I really like it. Only issue I had was the serving coming apart on the top end-loop. But toparchery immediately reached out and sent a new one! Great customer service.
Thanks friend. Have fun with your bow :)
"WTF" that was outstanding.. I'm gonna be starting soon I get my first 50lb bow I ordered it yesterday.. I'll be that good in a few months.. With my eyes close. And I watch a lot videos but after watching your video now I can't wait. Thank you for the inspiration
I'd start with a lighter bow if you're a beginner. 50lb is too heavy for most starters even if they are well built physically. It can make you tired easily, develop bad form and can ruin the fun of archery.
@Google User Thanks for the kind words. Now, at this point of time, Im finding the 50lbs a bit too powerful, especially for target shooting. Im thinking of buying another recurve bow with 40lbs power. It will be good enough to introduce archery to my friends when I have them over in the garden.
@@EjderAdventures same here.. Gonna have to do the same but I still use it now and then.
Great shooting. Talented indeed. Thanks for the video.
lovely place you live.. .. great father and son time...nice
Amazing shots mate. Well done and thanks for sharing.
You made holding that anchor look easy! LOL! I salut you because that is NOT as easy as it looks! 💪🏾 Great shooting!
Thank you. Yeah I agree, it is quite heavy, especially for an old man like myself 🙂
Great shooting, 👏I'm a compound bow guy "now" but I highly appreciate the skill.
#The Amazing Goldfish Thank you for the kind words. Im lucky that I have my garden to do a bit of shooting, especially in these diffucult times..
@@EjderAdventures I started out with an 25# barnett sports FLT that I bought from a garage sale 3 years ago. They claimed it was an recurve but truly it was an fiberglass longbow with an shelf on both sides so it experienced the archer's parrelox? I'm working on an quality backstop in my backyard now for my new bow, if it ever arrives, possibly another month. Had to sell my Evo NXT31 (at a loss) to help buy my new bow. No shooting for two and an half months now. 🏹😭👍
@@theamazinggoldfish8713 Well, you are doing the right approach starting out small and evolving. Before I bought my current 50lbs, I was happy with the 20lbs and having fun with the kids. But after a while, you do get the urge to upgrade. Safety and awareness always comes first, a good backstop is a must have. I checked your your Evo NXT31 bow and that one would be a dream come true for me! :) Enjoy your new one when it arrives. 🎯👍
@@EjderAdventuresit took a while but my special ordered Supra Focus XL with EM cams "finally" came. The bow only has 60# limbs instead of the 70# limbs of the NXT31, but with three turns remaining it seems every bit as fast, maybe faster. Had to get 85% (special ordered) letoff module because my DL is only 26"ish so l don't get the letoff stated due to DL. My backstop is now complete, plywood on large pallets covered by aluminum siding from an old mobile trailer. Shot the bow three times now and am loving it but the feel is different and will take time to get used to. 🏹🤠👍
@@theamazinggoldfish8713 I'm very happy for you dude. Good luck with the new bow 👍
I have a similar bow I have yet to get a chance to use yet and I am amazed by the speed and power of the arrows.
Great vid, bows and content. Beautiful bows and great hobby.
I shoot and hunt with a 45. It’s a lot of weight tbh. 405 squat woopie. I got a back that’s 2x wide.
Most range or target shooters will shoot 25-30. 50 is whatever but it’s still hard on your body. Unless you are 285 lbs and just a big dude.
Pro recurve shooter shoot at least 35 pound, more like 40 and up in the Olympics
This is what I'm using for home defense
I’m whitetail hunting with a #45
I’d like a 50-60 lb bow but I doubt I could comfortably shoot 50 arrows at 100%. I can shoot 20 arrows at 100% & probs 10 more at 80%
Plus the Minnesota cold makes it difficult.
I can only hunt whitetails in the 'Thehunter Call of the Wild' lol. That must be some experience.. Yeah, more pounds the less control.
2:22 at this point he goes and walks all the way to the top of that hill at 2:07 and hits a bullseye all the way from there xD
first shot was a god damn sniper shot!
could you test if the draw strenght is true? i find it hard to belive that the kid could pull 50lbs so effortless.
I have a 50lbs bow, and my fingers really hurt after shooting it a few times, even with the leather
edit: i just now saw he had a diffrent bow :D
Yeah, his was 20 lbs :)
Is that bow rugged and durable for up to years?
I just bought this same bow for bowfishing and it works perfect.
Nice shots and really cute sweet boy
Saol Dostum, Thanks for watching our adventures :)
Doesn't the off color flange point down?
Great video!
It looks for me as though you are not pulling the full 50lbs of draw weight since it does not look like you are reaching the full draw of 28 inches which I assume would give you the 50lbs. Personally I would anchor your draw hand middle finger right in the corner of your mouth , that will give you more stability and you will find that if you keep anchoring in the same spot and preforming the same routine I believe that you will shoot even better!
The bow looks fantastic for it's price , keep it up!
Thanks for tips mate. I will keep it in mind next time Im out :)
Chinese bows are measured at 26 inches. I had the same toparchery bow as my first bow but 30lbs and with my 28 inch draw length it was 35lbs at the fingers
@deathseller Would you recommend 35 lbs for a beginner? I don't wanna wear myself out trying to draw it lol.
did you messure the poundage on this bow? just got little suspicious when the kid did draw it didn't look that heavy or maybe he is super strong. It's not uncommon that sellers on Aliexpress lie about details.
@Mre942 the one my son was shooting is a different bow which is 20 or 30 lbs, can't remember. You are right, the 50 lbs is still quite heavy even though 3 years have passed! 🙂
In the end did you say it just needs more power? Like 50lbs isn't enough? I'm new to archery so I ask..
Hi pravnik66. My son was using his own bow which is only 30lbs. His arrow didnt stick thats why I said his shot needed a bit more power. My 50lbs bow has more than enough power for me..
@@EjderAdventures ok, thank you for the reply.
good arrow shot !!
40 meters is a LONG shot with trad equipment. Good work!
Good shooting, I ordered the same bow, 50 lbs. Nice video 👍
Thanks mate. Enjoy.
Hi Denis, did you got the bow? How it feels to shot 50lbs? Hard or easy?
@@ghecot4576 I like the bow a lot! It takes some practice because the bow is quite powerful. But you will get it ;)
Great work 8
Very nice shooting. I was looking into getting the same bow. But im a taller person (not extremely tall though) Can you say how long your Draw is?
Thanks mate. Im 184cm tall and my draw is about 70cm.
@@EjderAdventures Thats Nice. thank you for your answer
@@TariasNiniel This is my only bow so i couldnt really compare it anything else. It feels quite strong and stiff when pulling but gives the expression that you are in control and wont miss the target. I have a finger guard www.aliexpress.com/item/32887564297.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dzKquR5 that helps with pulling. Hope that helps friend
I notice you shoot bare-handed. I prefer this also but I afterward I do notice some numbness in middle finger of draw hand (40 lb recurve). Will this toughen up over time or should I make sure my technique is sound?
@brovold72 I have tried different finger guards but for me, they don't feel comfortable. Takes away the feel of control after release. I have this thing on the string which helps.. www.aliexpress.com/item/32953571339.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.5456317fX3sqBQ&algo_pvid=dcb737db-cd7d-4662-9da8-028fca34ebf8&algo_exp_id=dcb737db-cd7d-4662-9da8-028fca34ebf8-0&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2210000015282269896%22%7D Shooting bare handed used to hurt a little but Its ok now so I would say technique first. All the Best
Are you not wearing a finger guard on your right hand? You really should, prevents serious nerve damage in your fingertips.
Thanks for the concern my friend. I do have a finger guard on the string which helps a lot. Good shooting 👍🏻
@Edge Adventures is it difficult to nock the arrow with 50 lbs?
No it is not difficult
Great shooting there you all!
Im pretty strong. But the last time ive shot an arrow was elementary school. 25 now. Should i get a 50lb bow or go lighter? I just want some power so its fun to shoot with
@apollo4192 To be honest I find 50lb quite strong. Just uploaded my lastest video showing me shooting a 30lb Compound Bow which I borrowed from a friend. İf I was to get a bow now, I would definitely go for a 40lb. Perfect balance and power.. good luck my friend 👍
Awesome shooting boys! 👍👍👍👍🤠
@John Standup Thanks for the kind words :)
Is 50lb good for hunting small game? I never usually used a bow, but I'm tempted to practice with one and use it for hunting instead of a rifle.
50 lbs is definitely more than you need for small game. I'd go 30 to 40
I am able to buy my groceries at the moment so havent tried it for hunting but Im sure its more than enough for hunting :)
Good shooting dad but only one shot for the boy lol
Brilliant I just order one..great shooting
Thank you, it is another good reason to keep kids outdoors! 😊
How's that anchor point?
Nice shooting btw
@The Blue Bowman Im still practising to find a consisting point between my fingers, jaw and the string... Thanks.
@@EjderAdventures Best reference is your second drawing finger touching the edge of your mouth for starters:)

Great, but why 50 lbs?
Isn't 30 enough?
Just curious
@Joris The cheap bows I bought for my kids were 30lbs. They were easy to pull for me so I went for 50.

I shoot 30 lbs myself and I like it very much.
I would say € 1035 for a bow is not cheap.

I have that same bow but it's 40 pound draw and I love it
@Nick Ziolkowski Yeah, there were options, 56inch 30-50lbs. 50 is a little harder the pull but I'm getting used to it. Enjoy
Im a beginner and im around 17
How much lbs would u advise me to use?
30?
I am no expert myself but I started with 30 lbs for target shooting. Hope that answers your question.
Great shot! Are you from Israel!?
Thats so wow...
Wow you're really accurate, I can't shoot for shit lmao idk if the bows just bad or too much draw weight or me not taking the time to aim
Check this video out my friend and keep practising ua-cam.com/video/lWNruATrZOE/v-deo.html
try not aiming? just look at the target
50lbs is extreeemly heavy! I cant even get the string to my chin! Had to buy another limbs 35lbs
@Juan Carlos Rodrigues I agree. When I ordered it, I thought it would be good for long range shooting or even hunting but after using my kid's bows (30lbs) for target shooting, I'm finding this one to be too powerful. My next one will be a 40lbs. Enjoy and stay safe 👍
nice 👍
If your son can pull 50# that's impressive.
@Tim Richmond He actually used his own bow which is a 20 or 30#. To be honest, those low powered ones are more fun for target shooting :)
I have the same bow
Goes to show, the archer is better than the bow, you Sir are a great shot whatever you use I guess.
