As a Giants fan I appreciate the video! The Aaron Rowand deal was also horrible, and they gave Robb Nen a big extension when he was hurt and he never played again. Oh yeah and Mark Melancon😂

Reminds me of us paying Carl Crawford +$20 million to ride the bench. I hated the Sox for that. I believe he wanted out of Boston, but also believe CC and the Sox both knew he was the most expensive anchor in baseball.

You forgot about Mark Melancon and Aaron Rowand coming from a Giants fan myself. Those 2 are worse than most on the list especially Melancon who was supposed to be the one piece to getting us back to title contention and fixing our bullpen… we lost 99 games in 2017
I'll have to look into the Melancon deal, that wasnt on my radar, but Rowand I just forgot about. He was a big deal for about 5 minutes

As a Giants fan Zito is just fine because he got us a RING. We don't win 2012 without him. Sure, the rest of the time was a stinker but 2012 disqualifies him from a "worst contract" list. Now Mark Melanson was just an absolute bust in every way you could bust. 2017 was an unmitigated disaster and Melanson was one of the conductors that derailed that train.
Seems crazy to me to complain about this video. You literally have a series in this format for other teams. You've always shown professionalism in your videos. I've always had fun poking you in comments about your Dodger bias, and you've never stepped out of line! Thanks for the video man! Love from SF, even though we're bitter baseball rivals. Also, the silver lining with Zito was his 2012 NLCS game against the cardinals. It's hard not to think about his awful contract without thinking about that magical game.
My one regret in this video was not looking at Zito's playoff line in 2012. He does deserve credit for his performances against the Cardinals and Tigers.

I think Snell will at least get back to being respectable once he gets into his groove. Joining the team 5 minutes before the season threw him off for sure
Snell's been who he's always been, great stuff with no command of the zone, high strikeout and high walk numbers with a low number of innings pitched. Hopefully he can start working around the walks like he did last year

as a giants fan this was sad to look at LMAO but hey the truth is the truth, hope we def make better deals since a lot of these deals intersect (praying this year aint the case HAHAHA pls snell and soler…). other painful moves that come to mind is def signing ross stripling, trading for matt moore, and the trade for mccutchen (bryan reynolds smh). anyways go giants!! always hoping for the best
I did come across that Reynolds for McCutchen trade, that one definitely hurt. Snell I think will figure it out and at least be decent but not worth the money
Fair choices, but you look at the last regime.. and the decisions they made before after the dynasty? Sabean and company got really lucky with those WS wins
It's funny how throughout the Giants dynasty, they were never really a dominant force. They'd play well enough to get into the playoffs but that team knew how to win once they got there, something we rarely see. Dodgers, Braves, A's, Yankees, so many teams get there and flame out fast
They had an identity back then. Pitching, Defense and just barely enough offense to matter with severely underrated players. Belt for as unclutch as he was, was still a top end batter that was royally screwed over by playing at Oracle. Crawford was always sneaky great, and Posey was an undisputed legend. We also had Pence, Sandoval, Bumgarner, Cain, Lincecum in 2010. We just don't have anyone like that today save for Webb, Doval (who can't stay right this year), and... ??? A lot of passable players, none of them are severely underrated.

The Dodgers did this to them and made them over invest to try and keep up with them.
The Giants don't have a ton of bad contracts though, this list is full of a bunch of short extensions that didn't work out. Roster-wise the Giants just don't stack up to the Dodgers over the last 10 years
What the heck are the Cubs doing this season they started at the season really really strong and now recently they’ve been doing nothing but mistake after mistake after mistake and I feel like I’m losing my mind baseball is fun to watch except when your team is losing 😖😖😖
Cubs are an 85-89 win team on paper, I have a feeling a lot of people thought they'd be a slam dunk playoff team this year and I think they'll make it, but they're going to have some frustrating stretches this season

Yea you are just picking on the Giants at this point. 2016 on words we were coming off a DYNASTY.... And had older players and Bochy retired. There was alot of turn over. Bumgarner, Posey. NONE of these deals stand out as "Giant mistakes"..... Giants never signed a "Anthony Rendone" type contract. Sorry Giants are not the Dodgers who just buy every good player and not win anything.

I give them credit for winning 3 championships point out how great Crawford was for them over the years and Cueto's amazing 2016 season but still... yeah I know most of these were short term contracts but it still doesn't make them good. It just means they didn't screw their franchise like the Mets and Angels have.
Giants had a magical season in ‘21 with 107 wins and just got in 1st place 1 game ahead of the 106 win dodgers. I guess the dodgers NLDS win 3-2 over SF was payback for not coming in at 1st. I think we all know that 106 wins in 2nd is too many wins for a wild card team

Stupidest video, wheeler wasn’t good until he signed with Philly in FA, disco isn’t on the team anymore his contract is in Seattle, 2 year 16 AAV isn’t much anymore, Zito was an overpay but it was worth it for his playoff game against the cardinals
