Wins only make sense if the pitcher was pitching ON THE ROAD in that scenario. At home your going to have to hit to win; regardless if the pitcher himself was hitting or not. Because if a game is perfect for all nine innings by both sides, the home team that hits to walk it off wins. So in actuality the stats that made pitchers good or bad from wins and losses was tandem: LOSSES PLUS RUNS ALLOWED/HITS ALLOWED the higher this ratio the worse a pitcher is; like golf where lower scores are better. But I’d say tandem because if your team keeps losing games by 1 run games with 1 hit allowed that pitcher is great but his team can’t hit an exercise ball.
I am so glad that Corbin Burnes signed with the Baltimore orioles because he is a key piece that the Orioles desperately needed for their World Series run which I feel like they will get to this year or maybe next year
@@homerunproductions162 Does make more sense. Would be weird for the Red Sox's most recent to be Beltre with his one year with the team, over Ortiz with his legend status in Boston
@@homerunproductions162 he never accumulated a lot of wins in most of his seasons that he’s played because he’s never been on good teams. I’m glad that since the late 2000s MLB writers have finally moved away from wins for that reason.
When you were discussing the Red Sox, I’m actually surprised you didn’t mention that player who the award is named after played for the Red Sox in the early 1900s I’m also trying to remember if and what other teams he played for
The biggest disappointment in my sports watching career is deGrom not being able to finish the 2021 season. What he was on pass to do is absolutely mind boggling
@@homerunproductions162 yeah he blew out his elbow at the start of the year, this season but he got a lot of wins and he was dominating with the strikeouts.
thank god wins don't matter anymore for the Cy Young
They shouldn’t matter. Wins are one of the least important stats for pitchers
why did they even matter in the first place
Exactly. Not only did Brown and Felix get snubbed but a change of heart allowed sexy degrom to win
Wins mattered because it was a stat that showed a pitcher went deep into the game. The game has shifted.

Bartolo colon for the hall! 4.12 era over 21 years!
At that rate, get Jamie Moyer in too 🙄
@@charred5516 Jamie win a CY?
Hope to see Paul Skenes on this list at some point
I personally hope it is with the Pirates.
Very well done video. Thank you!
Your a goat u post my two favorite things badeball and rollercoasters
best 2 things ever
same
absolutely great video
thanks!

I think so too, just need to make sure their pen is solid without Bautista. Maybe trade one of their young minor league guys for a top shelf closer
You know how we penalize hitters for being good at coors? We need to do the opposite for pitchers. (Talking about Jimenez and Freeland)
It would be a shorter video because of overlap, but a teams last hall of famer would be cool
Interesting idea. Maybe players that went in wearing the hat of that team

Nolan Ryan robbed of cy young awards
it's stunning he never got one

Can you start buy or sell for baseball too?
When you were discussing the Red Sox, I’m actually surprised you didn’t mention that player who the award is named after played for the Red Sox in the early 1900s I’m also trying to remember if and what other teams he played for
He also played for the Cleveland Spiders.
Yeah, I was just assuming people have an idea who Cy Young is
He played for many teams, but the team he started on was the Cleveland Spiders.
I guess this video is evidence that Wins are an abomination before the Lord.
it's really sad how that was like THE only metric that mattered for a long time
Bieber, Cole, Alcantara all out with TJ surgery. Baseball has an elbow problem. It's wild
No shocker when you have all these guys throwing ridiculous heat and ridiculous breaking stuff. The human arm can only stand so much
dude I first heard ur voice on this vid and I thought it was AI cause it sounded so similer to ur other channel Airtime Thrills
Nah that's just my natural AI voice on both channels lol
Anyways, love ur content
I think it should have been Zack Britton in 2016
The biggest disappointment in my sports watching career is deGrom not being able to finish the 2021 season. What he was on pass to do is absolutely mind boggling
Seriously I'm right there with you. Midseason his era was under 1, and he started to crack a bit, but that's only because he was already hurt
Every Team's Most Recent Rookie of the Year
that's my next one coming in May
You’re gonna have to update this next year for the Tigers. Skubal 2024!
That legit could happen
2023’s REAL AL Cy Young winner was Eovaldi. People just like to suck the Yankees off more and not actually see quality pitching elsewhere
Pedro got robbed in 2002! He also got straight up hosed out of his MVP in 2000!
I believe the Braves last should have been Spencer Strider in 2023. How did he not even get top 3 ?
As i recall he had a really bad end to his season that spiked his ERA
@@homerunproductions162 yeah he blew out his elbow at the start of the year, this season but he got a lot of wins and he was dominating with the strikeouts.
5:51 watching Alek Manoah in there is wired after his downfall 😢.
my cy young pick from 2023. ouch
@homerunproductions162 what you think about his downfall, you believe he can come back ?
The Reds aren't the oldest franchise. The Cubs and Braves are older.
You're right, the Red Stockings were the first but they didn't end up being the current Reds
@@homerunproductions162 I didn't even know about the red stockings. I know the Cubs started as the White Stockings in 1870.
Zack Wheeler got robbed!
David wells got robbed in 1998 and Andy Pettitte in 96.
Lincecum? That sounds like a medication 💊!
Berrios will win the Cy Young this year (yes I’m just saying that cause I’m a jays fan)
You never know, pitchers randomly get hot
_After what he recently did to my Mariners I can see it 😭_
Justin Verlander got majorly robbed in 2016. Rick Porcello should not have won the Cy Young that year
Verlander was robbed by Porcello and Snell. Snell is a bum, period.
Willis was robbed in 2005
2005 was a really weird year for both leagues
Clemens had a 226 ERA+ with a 1.87 ERA that year. Willis was not robbed.
