    I know that Ryan Braun had amazing stats in 2011, but I think Matt Kemp had the slightly better season overall, and therefore he got snubbed for the NL MVP.

      Yeah I took a look at this and didn't think it deserved a mention. I kinda saw it coming too, esp since the Brewers were good and the Dodgers weren't. Kemp definitely feels cheated after the PED thing went down though

    In 2016 if Kershaw hadn't got hurt I think he might have won his 2nd MVP. When he got hurt his pitching was insanely good. His strikeouts to walk ratio was the best. He was at his peak that year. Yes, I know his record in the post-season is bad.

    • @homerunproductions162
      @homerunproductions162  3 місяці тому +1

      Its hard for me to justify giving the MVP to a pitcher, unless he was just insanely dominant and puts in 300 innings, or there's no good options on the offensive side

      @@homerunproductions162I think donaldkennedy9573 is right, Bryant in 2016 was really good but in terms of MVP seasons it wasn’t that great. If Kershaw doesn’t get injured he easily wins MVP. In 2016 Kyle Hendricks should have won over Scherzer in Cy Young but even though he only pitched 149 innings there’s some crazy argument to be made that Kershaw could have won that year.

    I kept waiting for Pedro Martinez 2000 to show up, but it never did. He had arguably the greatest pitching season of all time, setting the WHIP and ERA+ records and putting up 11.7 bWAR. He only finished in 5th place because his win total was only 18 and the Red Sox weren't great. Giambi won with 7.8 WAR, nearly 4 full wins behind Pedro. He was also robbed in 1999, but obviously that's before the time frame for this list.

  • @itsjeff9613
    @itsjeff9613 29 днів тому

    I wish it was easier for 1st baseman to accumulate WAR, because Carlos Delgado was the best offensive player in the AL in 2003 on a team with a WAY better record, but lost because he was up against a shortstop, who just automatically produce better WAR due to their position. Also Donaldson and Trout is WAY less egregious if you look at fWAR, it's 9.3 vs 8.7 which IMO the Jays winning the division makes up the difference, to where I don't think it's even a snub.

    Rookie of the year snubs next? If so, while this is pre-2000, please give an honorable mention to 1986 Mark Eichhorn, his story is amazing and would honestly make for a great video on its own-He was easily the slowest pitcher in the league, throwing a slider at 65-70 MPH almost exclusively, yet had probably the greatest season a reliever ever had in hindsight. If I were an awards voter that year, I'd have had Eichhorn 2nd in my Cy Young ballot-only behind peak Roger Clemens.

    I'm not trying to hate on this video, but a lot of your picks are just plain wrong. Saying Ortiz is the snub is 100% false. Travis Hafner had an a .1097 OPS and had more war than Morneau, Jeter, and Ortiz even while playing 20 less games.
    Also, in 2000, bonds played 17 less games than Helton, so his war was one lower. When it comes to a situation like that with their war, it shouldn't just come down to war so Bonds should have won. His ops+ was 25 points higher, 188 compared to 163.
    Utley, Pujols, Wright and Jones were also better than Holliday in 2007.
    Holliday: 151 ops+ 6 war
    Utely: 147 ops+ 7.8 war
    Wright: 149 ops+ 8.3 war
    Pujols: 157 ops+ 8.7 war
    Jones: 165 ops+ 7.6 war
    Glad you mentioned Trout in 15, and Bautista in 11 though. Both aren't really talked about as snubs for some reason.

    • @homerunproductions162
      @homerunproductions162  3 місяці тому

      Hafner did have a 0.1 better WAR but like you said, he was 22 games down from Ortiz, 12 homers back, 20 RBI back, but did have an OPS about 50 pts higher. Probably finished 8th because he missed a month's worth of games. As for Holliday, a lot of those guys down the list had a good argument. I dont know if they were better than the guy who won the batting title, leading the league in hits and RBI and also mixing in 36 homers, Coors being a factor there for sure. The most surprising thing is Pujols finishing 9th with those stats.

    7: dang never knew how crazy that 2000 race was lol

    5: A Rod is no stranger to having an mvp stolen from him lol, should've won in 96 too (best clean season from a shortstop ever probably)
    4: idk I'm fine with the JV win, he was immaculate that season. Bautista is that dude tho no doubt
    3: This race always irks me, Judge should've had it lol (Trout would've won if he didn't get hurt)
