Great start to this series…thanks! Great to see the foundation that was needed for the franchise to eventually arrive at Ibaka, VanVleet, Powell and Gasol playing out of their minds in the late spring of 2019!
I definitely remember being home and watching the Raps beat the Bulls. SkyDome was NOT a basketball venue. A shame that McGrady didn't even call them back about being interviewed, but total props to Stoudamire for showing up and being honest. Very enjoyable first part, I patiently await part 2.
I remember watching that game on TV when I was 11 years old. I thought MJ's final shot counted lol. Anyhow, we were one of the 10 teams that beat the Bulls that year when they went 72-10 🇨🇦🦖
I was about halfway up as a guest with a friend who knew I liked MJ and had tickets. My one and only MJ experience and when they say there is a buzz in the air they are being modest. The fact we won was almost unbelievable and of course we didn't know at the time the Bulls would go on to win 72 making the feat even more special.

Very well put together. As a fan that's been watching since the 80's and seeing the onset of the Raptors, it was great to see the making of the team. You don't realize the value of being a nationally televised team until you see something like this. As a Lakers fan, we are used to the spotlight and being on TV, but if you were from a smaller market this wasn't your reality. I remember when they started generating a buzz and of course when they eventually blew up when Vince hit the scene. Can't wait to see the next few installments. That said, I do want to say that it is disappointing to not hear from Isaiah and T-Mac. Docs that are sans key people always get a side eye from me. Why would you not want to tell your truth and establish your narrative, as opposed to leaving it up the audience to formulate an opinion of you. Makes me wonder who is involved in the production of this video to generate such a reaction.
As a raptors fan from California I am happy how this was made if I was to play pro basketball I would love to play for the Toronto Raptors go raptors go from Sonora California
I was 10 years old when the Raptors and Grizzlies joined the NBA. It was weird watching a basketball game in the Skydome lol. I'm grateful to have witnessed the Raptors win an NBA title in my lifetime. 🏆🦖🇨🇦 We The North!

This is excellent and comprehensive. I'm looking forward to the rest of this series. It's kinda disappointing that Isaiah Thomas and T-Mac weren't around to be interviewed. I really hope we get to see Butch Carter and some others. I'd be sad if Chuck Swirsky isn't interviewed.

Life long fan. Booed Damon at the draft in 95..sitting in the Nose Bleeds. Man. Since that year it's been on..'19 parade was unreal!! Can't wait to watch the rest of these I wish they would've covered the 96 draft. The raps won the 1st pick, but there was a rule put in place that expansion teams couldn't win the 1st pick for a few years after becoming a franchise. Smh
@KardiFan2000 facts. I remember reading articles about playing Both AI and Damon..looking back. We should've drafted Ray Allen over Camby to sure up the backcourt. Alvin Rob was old
Appreciate Alvin's honesty, 100% facts that players didn't want to play here or Vancouver. That's just the reality. We still struggle with issues although not nearly as bad now.
Hey Sportsnet! Thanks for reliving the best moments in Raptors History! So happy to be a part of the early years of the Toronto Raptors Basketball Team from day 1! Check me out 43:23.
I'm surprised when discussing the Raptors colours they showed an SNL clip of Adam Sandler and Chris Farley from an "alternative lifestyle" beer commercial...
Damon Stoudamire cooked Steve Kerr all game. That game is a core memory for me. I was such a fan of mighty mouse fan I even had a pair of his shoes, Nike Air Flight Turbulence. I wish the Raps would go back to purple.
Hold up, is it just me or Mickeal Jordan shot it when there was 0 second. put the video to 0.25 and the ball was still in his hands, then like 3 seconds later the ball got off his hand. NWM THEY DIDNT COUNT IT sorry. Anyways good episode
They would've need some vets though, so Camby would have to go and be replaced with Charles Oakley. However, I would have loved to see Stoudamire and Carter play together.
@mfjules nah trading Camby was a mistake, & they never replaced him. They could have got vets from free agency over time. But it wasn't just Camby, they started making bad moves after Thomas left. First trading DS, then Camby, then let Mcgrady go.. if they let that core grow together 5 or 6 years, they probably still don't win a championship because they were in the Kobe Shaq era, but they probably would have dominated the East division though
I love the raps and have been here since day one , I think we have some great pieces to build with but sloppy barnes was a mistake ...I hope we trade him next year before the rest of the nba finds out this kid hit his ceiling in his 3rd year
They can build with Barnes...the problem is, they put the franchise player tag on him way too early, and RJ has since emerged as the true leader/scorer of the team. Barnes is still a good complimentary piece though.
@@vintagepimpage6049 What team are you trading Barnes to, and what type of (realistic) return are you expecting? The Raps are still rebuilding and nowhere near contending, it's not like we'd be getting some "final piece" that'll take us to the championship.
@KardiFan2000 right now he has enough delusion surrounding him that you could get a d fox or chet type piece for him , at least that way we aquire a player who actually loves basketball and not streaming on twitch for pre teen clout

Wtf are u talking about Damon literally dragged ymca teams to wins over established nba teams ... he was a star and a top ten pg from his rookie season on ...clearly u were born in 2005 😅
@@KardiFan2000 Raptors would have went further with a real point guard. Alvin Williams' legs were so bad he could not dunk or blow past defenders. He just passes the ball around the perimeter all day.
@@gaming1 We didn't NEED him to dunk and blow by defenders all day, what do you think Vince was for? Lol. That's not even the primary role of a PG. Alvin hit the shot that clinched the Raps first playoff series win against the Knicks, and he was a dawg on defense...put some respect on his name.
Cheap production and cheesy voice over, all that's missing is a laugh track. Making Raps franchise look like a clown show which they are outside of Kawhi and a few years of Vince and Tmac.

Doesn't the name below them in the fan poll have more votes? 3 minutes in.
Crazy how we did t draft 1
Nuggets were trying to relocate to Toronto?!
they were in financial trouble in Denver at the time. Also Cleveland almost moved to Toronto in the early 80's

The purple and white with pinstripes look way better than the rhe current ugly
i trust the guy that drafted T MAC
