Garden room construction flat roof build

  • We are fighting the constant rain now on this one. This time last year we all had sun tans!
    We are using 5x2 c16 for the roof and fixing with 90mm Paslode nails and joist hangers fixed upside down with twist nails.
    There is a 25mm for every 1mtr fall on the roof, which equates to 75mm over this 3mtr build. With this type of roof and no furrings used we can maximise the internal head height of the room and still keep under the 2.5 limit for permitted development.
    Thanks for watching as always.

    Probably a silly question, so apologise in advance, Will the plasterboard / ceiling inside also have a 75mm incline or.do you do something to level it?. Thinking about the spots inside will be angled?

    • @thegardenroomguru
      @thegardenroomguru  2 місяці тому +1

      yes inside is mate, its literally a couple of degrees, you only notice if you paint a side wall a different colour or sit a level tv on a side wall, then your eye references off the level

    Where do you buy your rubber roof from?

  • @karatekei2
    @karatekei2 2 роки тому

    Terrible😂 get a chippy in. your side over hang has no strength coz you put it to close trying to be clever, Never put joists in with a line. cut them straight with the line afterwards.

    Liam just wondering if you are buying the EPDM rubber local and also I like the idea of saving on Insulation but could you explain how the plaster boards will then be fitted to accommodate this as usual fantastic videos.

    I’m knocking down a single block concrete shed out the rear of my own house, I’m by no means a precise joiner although we do a lot of fencing etc, definitely some things to be learnt watching your videos, great content

    Thanks Liam, great video as usual; one question - do you cut your noggins on the sides the same 80mm overhang as the back or do you add another 25mm for the extra batten? Put another way, does your soffit start from the outside of the wall or from the outside of the battens? Cheers
