A beautiful acknowledgment from Mr. Barlog: bit.ly/38Q5KGP
    Three quick amendments:
    1. While indeed Snorri spent time as a leader in Norway, he was Icelandic by birth.
    2. The longer the stories were being told throughout the generations, the 2 fertility gods, Frigg and Freya, began to bleed into the one goddess.
In the Edda's, Baldur's mother is Frigg, but I've purposefully kept it as Freya in this video for ease of understanding.
    3. I've made a typing error and wrote Alistair Sung as Alistair 'Yung' in the credits. Getting someone's name wrong is for me, the greatest crime so I am so sorry for this.

But in order for his story in the lands of Norse Mythos to stand authentic, they had to replace Loki's presence with Loki (BOI) and place him directly in the center of it all. In many ways, humans do not change even when they do; much of Kratos' failures and faults stem from the fact that he had *too much* of a heart, and was too open with his emotions.

A chance to be the true version of himself he was meant to be. Kratos doesn't give a fuck but he know now that just cause you can be cruel and intimidating doesn't mean you need to.... he learned to try to be more Empathetic. Despite the fact he's trained as a Spartan to be a ruthless warrior and he was. But he was also a kind and loving father to Caliope. He's not a cruel man but a man forced to cruelty to because the GODS show no mercy. He know what the Gods are capable of. And he fucking hates them. I'm a father of three....a single father of three with a high school education and held multiple jobs at one time just to raise them. I made a lot of mistakes (some that could have had me locked away for a long time) in life but somehow after time recovered from those mistakes as well as raised all three of my children the best I can. At many times they all exhibited most of the behaviors that set me back for many yrs. It took time, dedication, patience, honesty and pain but it is possible, as you so eloquently put, " It's never to late to reinvent the story". Despite our story is far from over two are on their way to medical school now and my middle child is being groomed for management for the tonight show in nyc...oh, and I'm now a grandfather. Don't get me wrong, they're still nutty like their old man...just way less nutty. I've been a gamer all my life (since Atari 2600) but as I've gotten older have been really picky about what games I'd invest my time in playing due to a busy life. My youngest (20 yr old) son recommended I play the new God of War....I'm so glad I did. The themes were so deep it had me in tears many times as did you're video. Thank you and bravo. I think I'll do for my son what he did for me and now recommend this video for him to watch. This was beautiful.

Kratos was never truly "vile" per say, except after being betrayed by basically *EVERYONE* after the events of God of War 2, and at the start of God of War 3, where he truly becomes a omen of destruction, solely focused on completely erasing the Greek pantheon from existence. When people say he was a prick in the older games, they forget that was never his true nature, he was influenced by many things that ultimately led him to kill all the gods of Olympus.
We are talking about a man that lost all of his family members, except his father, which inadvertedly contributed to their deaths.

Enjoy when you get a chance to play it, and I hope then you remember to come back and check out this excellent video.

In Ragnarok, we see Atreus comforting a wolf named Fenrir who was dying. I thought it was just a nice reference. Then, I saw a Garm, a huge wolf chained in Hel and my immediate thought was "Damn. Looks a lot like Fenrir in Norse Myth. That's a cute nod". When I saw Atreus put Fenrir's soul inside Garm, it felt like every single piece fell perfectly into place. Fenrir was technically Loki's child in this cause he put his soul in a new body thus giving Fenrir life again

It makes me annoyed in hindsight of all the contrarians trying to shit on the games story by saying "well the old games had sad moments so this game isn't special" as if thats what makes a story and world great. people don't love this game because there are some emotional moments they love it for the Lore and how it connects mythology within the story instead of in spite of it like the classic games. It manages to tell the stories of the Norse myths while weaving it into its own and thats what makes it special

This was really well made, normally I'd get bored and leave. Though, as a person who's played every God of War game thus far and somewhat looking forward to Ragnarok, watching this reminded me of why I liked the series and how well-written God of War 4 was. Reminding me of the time I had played it and enjoyed it. I'd be tempted to play it on PS5 with the port you get for owning it on PS4 but, I have no luck finding a PS5 so far. I need to replay it some point soon, I played it to death on the PS4 at launch and beat it on the hardest difficulty, then was burned out and stopped, didn't finish the Valkyries, and this was also before they updated the game to include New Game+. I'm always rooting for Kratos in hopes that even if every attempt to break free from 'Fate', he always seems to be one step behind or fighting a battle that seems like he's won or triumphed, only to find out he's still connected to some form of Fate he can't even comprehend, he has to constantly look forward and use his, ironic powers of Hope - for something better, to power his way through. I hope Kratos at the end of it all when the series ends, gets a good ending for him. We can see he's trying hard to change and its a good start.

The original trilogy also has an excellent story that holds up. There's a beautiful tragedy with Kratos killing the thing he loves most, his wife and child, and then eventually being saved by a remembrance of his daughter (Pandora) leading him to become the better man we see in GoW 4.

God of War 2018 isn't a sequel anymore than Chains of Olympus, even by your definition, this God of War is not God of War 4, but simply just God of War... 2018.
