To this day, I'm still receiving some harsh criticism for my initial reaction 🥴😅 I can't please everyone, but I wanted to react again to show my appreciation and pay tribute to all the legends involved in this iconic song. Talk to me lightly folks; I'm still on this journey!
As Long as you are not trying to "front" or Elude that you know more than you actually know.... Let it roll off your back..... Reminder there is no Inflection in typing so, sometimes what is meant as Nice, is read as Harsh (and Vice-Versa)........
My man, lemme break it down cuz you and I in the same place rn w/WATW. Paul Simon (guy before Kenny Rogers) is the other half of 'Simon & Garfunkel' known for their harmony. I'd suggest 'Scarborough Fair' if you want that little white dude to blow your mind vocally. Think Everly Brothers but folk instead of rockabilly. James Ingram is before Tina Turner but all I really remember him from was the cute little song from 'American Tale' which he sang with Linda Ronstadt. Al Jarreau is before Springsteen and is responsible for the first beatboxing. He was a disaster for the entire filming as he was intoxicated and kept singing over Willie's lines. Huey Lewis sings before Cyndi Lauper, he's famous for his acting work in Back to the Future (he played the music teacher auditioning Marty McFly who told him that his music was 'just too loud') as well as the soundtrack. Huey's got a killer chest vocal so you should check out 'Power Of Love,' 'Back in Time,' 'If This Is It,' 'The Heart of Rock n' Roll'...check it, and he's SO FUNNY, too! Kim Carnes sings after Cyndi and has an INCREDIBLE voice even though it sounds like she doesn't here. If you look up we are the world on youtube it'll show you their rehearsals, too. Kim's famous for 'Bette Davis Eyes.' VERY cool song. Bob Dylan sings a little...different...being folk but I'd have you check out 'Blowin' in the Wind,' 'The Times They Are A-Changin',' 'Like a Rolling Stone if you want a window into Bob's style. I've seen people lose their minds over his lyrics alone. Stevie arranged what you heard him sing cuz he had NO IDEA how he was going to make his tiny little half a line 'his own.' You know they did a Netflix documentary on this night, right? 'Greatest Night in Pop Music' - it's excellent, Lionel Richie, Ken Kragen, lighting/camera crew, Sheila E., Bruce Springsteen, Kenny Loggins and others appear and narrate. It's awesome. They said in it that Stevie Wonder was playing the song the first time through with everyone there around the piano and all the soloists sang and all could do was hear all the different voices and the look on his face...brought me to tears. It's just such a cool story that SO MUCH SHIT had to come together for these guys to be able to do this the same night as the AMAs, which Lionel both hosted and swept I believe 6 awards that night? Everybody had to record the song that night otherwise it was gonna be a logistical nightmare. They were all in town. It was perfect. Oh and yes, Billy Joel is 'Piano Man!'
In the choir alone - the legendary Smokey Robinson , the legendary Bette Midler, The Pointer Sisters( you can hear them really good, their voices stand out), some of The Jackson’s , Sheila E, John Oates ( Hall &Oates) , the band The News( Huey Lewis & The News) , Lindsey Buckingham( Fleetwood Mac and solo artist) , Jeffrey Osborne ( LTD and solo artist), Harry Belofonte ( singer and acting legend ) , Dan Akroyd ( comic legend and actor) …
Dont worry about the trash talkers, there are alot of reactors, your age and younger, that dont know half of the artists. Glad you re-reacted. Now you can see even more how big it was when it came out
Giving some things to react to: Bette Midler: Wind beneath my wings Paul Simon: Slip Sliding Away Lindsey Buckingham: Trouble Kim Carnes: Betty Davis Eyes Pointer Sisters: Fire or Nuetron Dance Huey Lewis and The News: Heart of Rockin Roll DIONNE Warwick: Heartbreaker THESE ARE THE ONES you didn't recognize just to help you out
You did great! James Ingram (white sweater) sang twice in the videoo. He sings 100 Ways and Just Once plus duets with Patti Austin, Linda Ronstadt and Michael McDonald. Huey Lewis of Huey Lewis and the News was in the video. You did a wonderful job and I love your reactions!
Video Idea: You can get lists of the singers in order of their appearance in the video. Go thru it and for every singer you do not know, go look up their biggest hit and do a blind reaction to it. It can be the 'We Are The World Series'. I am not sure why, but I get choked up every time Ray Charles starts singing.
I 2nd this notion, lol. Dionne Warwick has an incredible catalog. You really can’t go wrong with any of her songs. Burt Bacharach wrote a lot of hit songs for her back in the day! 😊
IMO, Your first reaction was pretty solid to me. As a Gen X'er, I know them all except the studio engineers & such. Iconic song that can never be duplicated, although other remakes have been made, they all pale to the classic here.
So happy you found out how big this video was!! And all of the BIG artists who were in it!!! Paul Simon with Kenny. This was such a joy to watch you rediscover the talent in there!!! A BIG THANK YOU ❤❤❤❤❤❤
The people that leave negative remarks have nothing in their lives so they try to pass on their unhappiness! Sorry you have to put up with crap like that! I loved your reaction as much this time as I did the first time! FABULOUS!
I'm looking at Cyndi.. she just turned 70.. wow.. I know i'm up there at 57 but this came out the year I graduated from HS.. Some are dead, some are older than my man and he's 11 yrs older than me.. truly makes me feel old. Because in 1985 Michael was the best and so many were at the height of their careers.. Many have passed and the rest don't do music anymore.. except Willie.. you can't stop Willie lol
Appreciate your re-reaction Don’t stress about the criticism the first time around. I went back and watched it and u were fine. Yeah you only knew a few but thats okay you still knew u were watching something amazing and appreciated the performances and performers even if you were not too familiar with everyone i have seen a lot of reactions. Everyone knows MJ and a couple others but some have no idea who the others are and are just “um ok whatever”. U still appreciated all the greatness in one space and were not like “ok meh whatever” about the whole thing
Boy, does this bring so many memories from that era . Don't worry about talkers bc ignorance can be corrected through education BUT stupidity is a life long affliction !
The really amazing thing about this song is that they were able to get so many legends into one room. Every single one of those solo singing artists is a true legend with a catalog of top #1 hits behind them, and every singer in the mass group is a legend in their own right as well. You should check out the Wikipedia page on the song and go through all of the artists featured on this track. That's what makes this song, even in its simplicity, so iconic.
Its surprising who did not get a single cameo,-Bette Miller, Harry Belefonte, Janet Jackson, Lindsey Buckingham. The background singers were top notch too.
AB, this re-reaction is one of the reasons I love your channel. I stumbled across your first reaction & loved it. I wanted to see a re-reaction because I thought how fun to see you recognize more of the people. I went to the comments and was surprised to see you had received negative comments. It didn’t matter to me that you didn’t recognize many of the greats because that was a true and honest reaction. You enjoyed the song and were never disrespectful to any of the singers, imo. I was happy to see the re-reaction. Keep giving us your real reactions, I love it!
I saw Ray Charles with Buddy Guy opening in 2001 at the Hollywood Bowl. It was a few years before his death and when he was walked to the piano he looked older than his age. BUT when he sat down at the piano he came to life, playing like he was decades younger. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. So many hits.
Most people who react to this don't know Al Jurreau, James Ingram and Paul Simon. Don't beat yourself up about it. They are such talented singers but now you know who to check out. I love your channel!
I also find most don’t know Bob Dylan. Mind Blowning! It’s been almost 40 years since the release. Can you image 40 years from now in the year 2064 and reactors are completely blank on who Taylor Swift is, don’t recognize her appearance or her vocals?! That’s how my generation (age 52, grew up in the 80’s), feels when people don’t recognize Bob Dylan and many others. It’s absolutely shocking how famous people who were loved all over the world can fade away and be unrecognizable 40 years later by a completely different generation.
@@BrokenLady67 - Nor do they realize that Dionne Warwick’s maternal aunt is Cissy Houston. Cissy sang back up for the great Aretha Franklin. Cissy also gave birth to a world famous daughter, a little known name - WHITNEY HOUSTON - which makes Whitney and Dionne cousins.
Much love for the revisit, takes brass balls. Plus my friend, if your on the journey, ya can't just jump in, sheet . There's 50 years worth of artiss in that Room....! ❤
Also, in the chorus, Jeffrey Osbourne, Lindsey Buckingham, The Pointer Sisters, The Jackson 5 and Latoya Jackson, Huey Lewis and the News Band, Bob Dylan, Sheila E, Bette Midler, Bob Geldolf (who did Band-Aid "Do They Know It's Christmas?"
When reacting to a song for the first time means just that first time hearing and learning who is singing the songs but if you were to cheat and find out about what you were getting ready to react to it would change your true reaction. You are right about one thing you will never be able to please everyone so just keep being you. By the way I would love to see you do Broken wings by Martina McBride again since they cut you off in the middle of the song for breaking their rules I guess. I know you said you did another one but I can’t find it anywhere. Loved your 2nd reaction to this song.
You are definitely my fav music reactor, of course some will have criticism but i think that a persons reaction is just that .. keep up you great reaction
For two solid years your original reaction to this song has been my favorite reaction on UA-cam❤😂 the guy singing just before Kenny Rogers is Paul Simon. He wrote the song The sound of silence. Your first reaction was iconic. There are videos of people reacting to your reaction of this song
Masterpiece, obviously….for me Stevie n Bruce together, that contrast…and then James Ingram drops gospel in and then- Ray closes out the song.✅ ❤ I’m so glad I’ve seen this since its debut…it changed lives, literally.❤️
❤❤ It's just an epic song with all these Legends in one room. I believe we have lost 10 of them since this recording. If you have Netflix you should watch the documentory of how this all came about 'The Greatest Night In Pop'. You'd really enjoy it. ❤Stay safe
Short dude was Paul Simon (like from Simon and Garfunkel). The jazz singer that was after Willie Nelson was Al Jarreau (ja-row). The only people who you may not know were Kenny Loggins, Lindsey Buckingham(he was in Fleetwood Mac) , Harry Bellefonte Hall and Oates, Bob Dylan, The Pointer Sisters (they sung "im so excited"), Jeffrey Osborne (sang "On the wings of love" and "Back in love again" when he was with his group LTD), Huey Lewis, James Ingram, Diana Ross, and Randy, LaToya, and Marlon Jackson. I think that's everyone.
Good job !!! And a shout out to , Harry Belafonte, Bob Geldof, Bette Midler, Smokey Robinson. Sheila E., Bob Geldof, Anita, June and Ruth Pointer (Pointer Sisters), Jackie, La Toya, Marlon, Randy and Tito Jackson (yeah, those Jacksons) and Dan Aykroyd rocking it in the chorus. Here you go: • Lionel Richie • Stevie Wonder • Paul Simon (Simon and Garfunkel) • Kenny Rogers • James Ingram • Tina Turner • Billy Joel • Michael Jackson • Diana Ross • Dionne Warwick • Willie Nelson • Al Jarreau • Bruce Springsteen • Kenny Loggins • Steve Perry • Daryl Hall • Huey Lewis • Cyndi Lauper • Kim Carnes • Bob Dylan • Ray Charles
You did nothing wrong! Whoever the people are being mad at you just because you didn't recognize who's some of their favorite s were. Some People are like that and they need to grow up. Love your channel I enjoy watching your reactions.
Haters gonna hate. Just be grateful for all you learned from being open minded. Plus for you and ignore the hate. World needs to be more kind because it may be a rough chaotic and violent one to come. 😢
I knew you would have to go back because you have done so many reactions since then. Honestly I loved your first reaction. Ray???? That alone endeared me!
The artist before Kenny is Paul Simon of the legendary Simon and Garfunkle "The Sound of Silence."" Bridge Over Troubled Waters", "I Am a Rock", "Mrs. Robinson", and so many more.
I disagree. If you're sent requests, you should at least Google the Artist and song to familiarize yourself so that you can make a fair analysis. Who makes Any kind of Presentation without research? At least know what you're talking about. And yes I'm a musician and is familiar with each and every one of these Artists and their music!
@@MichaelS.Carter-v3kThat's silly. This is a reaction channel not a review channel. If he wants to do research afterwards that's great, but you aren't supposed to do it before..... Hence "reaction".
People getting literally mad is a nonsense, but people fakely "getting mad" and actually suggesting the reactor to re-react to this in the future, since they know it hits different when you know stuffs is an actual wholesome and helpful thing. Cheers!!
First of all, if you 11:20 t listen to this music growing u, then you wouldn't know thesr artist. You were just learning and listening to new things. Great job young man.❤❤❤❤
I don't know why people got mad because you didn't know some of the artists...Watching reaction videos has opened up a plethora of artists I now listen too that I had never knew about before... Keep up the amazing reactions❤❤❤
You are the best don’t worry what they say, no you didn’t know when you first listened to this song so what!!! and now you do and have more of an appreciation for this song, because you recognize the singers and what an impact it had then and now, this was one of the great musical moments in history!!!!🎶 keep on doing what you do 💕🎉🎊🎶🎶🎶🎶
I’m so glad you redid this amazing song! It’s not your fault you didn’t know everyone the first time. Now you do and it obviously hit you differently. So much amazing talent in that room. Imagine us back then…they were who we listened to on the radio every day and we were thrilled they came together for this. Great reaction!
I respect the revisit. There are a few names I can never remember, and I've seen hundreds of times. The girl that sings Betty Davis Eyes next to Cyndi Lauper especially. Edited to Add: Ghostbuster? The man is a Blues Brother!
You most watch the documentary on the making of this. I think its called the Greatest night in music. It's so entertaining. Al Jareau was bombed, stevie wonder showing Bob Dylan how to sing like Bob Dylan. He was so uncomfortable with all these artist. It is most see tv.

I think we appreciate this video more when we know the artists and remember them. Many are gone now. It's ok to get all excited when the King of Pop is singing lol. You've come a long way :) Don't forget about Huey Lewis standing next to Cyndi Lauper.
That was a good reaction! Man, this song came out when I was a kid, and I still get goose bumps just seeing these big stars together! I think you didn’t say anything when Huey Lewis was singing. You definitely should listen to Huey Lewis and The News- Hip to be square, Power of Love (from Back to the future), The Heart of Rock and Roll, Heart and Soul, New Drug, If this is it-just to name a few songs 😁
More people should go back after a few years a re watch this. I think this is GREAT!!!. First time I watch this like 100y ago I didn't know who Steve Perry (JOURNEY) was. Now I know every Journey song 😁
Don’t sweat anything young blood. At times the beauty of finding gems lies in the digging itself. Anyone who has difficulty in fathoming the thought process that each person abides in arenas of information, is not worthy of the “ink.” Peace
It is even more powerful when you think of the legacy each entertainer has given us and several that are no longer with us, Kenny Rogers, James Ingram, Ray Charles, Al Jarreau, Tina Turner, and of course, MJ!
Look I’m 43 so I’ve known most of the singers my whole life. What a weird thing to get mad at, you not knowing who most of them were when you first reacted. If anything it gives cred to you genuinely reacting to music on your channel. People need to chill. I AM glad you’re doing a second react now that you’ve watched a lot more artists, but whoever was mad I mean 🫠🤷🏼♀️
I second this comment! The documentary was awesome, there were people I didn't recognize as well. A few of Michael Jackson's siblings were there, along with at least one Ghostbuster. 😊 I seem to remember some controversy about Madonna not being there, not sure. Have you reacted to Do They Know It's Christmas yet? Another good one.
This song has a chokehold in my memory as the song that all of us piano students played in unison for our piano recital in the 90s.🙂 12 kids in a circle with keyboards playing this at you. 😂
I don't understand how some of these people can't understand that you reactors have Never heard the music and definitely never analyzed it 😂 It's like the references in some songs where people get roasted for not knowing current or cultural events from years before they were born. I get it completely understand it. I have a son who's a reactor and he's just learning now. You do your thing I think you're doing a wonderful job ❤ Great reaction as usual my friend and Peace out ✌️ ☮️
If you haven’t seen it yet I strongly encourage you to watch the documentary. It is so interesting. BTW, I was alive and remember when the song came out, and I still missed some of the artist so don’t feel bad.
The gentleman with Kenny Rogers is Paul Simon from Simon and Garfunkel. The gentleman after them isJames Ingram Yes it was Billy Joel . The lady singing with Michael Jackson is Diana Ross. The lady with Willie Nelson is Dionne Warwick. The gentleman after willie Nelson is Al Jarreau. With Cindy Lauper it is Huey Lewis and Kim Carnes. The gentleman towards the end with the leather jacket is Bob Dylan.
The short guy by Kenny was Paul Simon from Simon & Garfunkel. Yes that was Billy Joel (Piano man). Diana Ross (The Supremes) was singing with Michael Jackson. Dion Warwick sang with Willie. Then Kenny Loggins after Bruce & before Steve Perry. After Steve was Darrel Hall from 'Hall & Oats'. Then, After Michael & before Cindy Lauper was Huey Lewis,. The blonde after Cindy was Kim Carnes. After the chorus, Bob Dylan sings, then the chorus again. You knew a ton of them, too. There were still many big artists without leads, like Bette Midler, Harry Bellefonte, actor Dan Ackroyd & several other Jackson's. Yay you! You have broadened your horizons & opened your heart to so many wonderful artists. You are my fav to watch & I'm glad you are having fun..
If you want to do a 3-fer song, Kenny Rogers did a trio song with Kim Carnes, who sang after Cyndi Lauper did in this along with James Ingram who sang before Tina and then another solo towards the end. The song was called What About Me.

I know you said you did another one but I can’t find it anywhere. Loved your 2nd reaction to this song.
You are definitely my fav music reactor, of course some will have criticism but i think that a persons reaction is just that .. keep up you great reaction
Gives me chills every time!🎉
I'm so glad you reacted to this again! I could listen to this song over & over! You're still my fav reaction channel! Keep them coming, Mr. AB! ❤
Well done you! The shorter brother is Paul Simon from Simon & Garfunkel.
For two solid years your original reaction to this song has been my favorite reaction on UA-cam❤😂 the guy singing just before Kenny Rogers is Paul Simon. He wrote the song The sound of silence. Your first reaction was iconic. There are videos of people reacting to your reaction of this song
For you to learn and grow in music knowledge is the goal. You are allowed to revisit, change your mind, and I appreciate that both reactions are real.
Ignore the haters. You be you AB, and I’ll keep watching!!
We all know you will do better now. Forget the trash talkers. They must not have anything in their lives. You do YOU❤
I didn’t see your first one but I really enjoyed this one. Great reaction!
Such respect for you!! Great song 🎶 from my past!!
MJ was indeed, something else
Don’t forget the incomparable Diana Ross.
Yes, besides being a phenomenal singer in her own right, wasn’t she godmother to MJ? Very close friendship between those two. ❤
Paul Simon, little guy before Kenny, was original version of The Sound of Silence.
This song still gets me chocked up every time I hear it.
YES! Billy Joel!
Masterpiece, obviously….for me Stevie n Bruce together, that contrast…and then James Ingram drops gospel in and then- Ray closes out the song.✅ ❤ I’m so glad I’ve seen this since its debut…it changed lives, literally.❤️
I love how excited you are now that you know them and have heard them! It hits different! ❤
❤❤ It's just an epic song with all these Legends in one room. I believe we have lost 10 of them since this recording. If you have Netflix you should watch the documentory of how this all came about 'The Greatest Night In Pop'. You'd really enjoy it. ❤Stay safe
I'm so proud of you! You've come a long way!👏🏾👏🏾
Short dude was Paul Simon (like from Simon and Garfunkel).
Here you go:
• Lionel Richie
• Stevie Wonder
• Paul Simon (Simon and Garfunkel)
• Kenny Rogers
• James Ingram
• Tina Turner
• Billy Joel
• Michael Jackson
• Diana Ross
• Dionne Warwick
• Willie Nelson
• Al Jarreau
• Bruce Springsteen
• Kenny Loggins
• Steve Perry
• Daryl Hall
• Huey Lewis
• Cyndi Lauper
• Kim Carnes
• Bob Dylan
• Ray Charles
Regardless what anyone thinks they are all legends i loved this song when it came out i was a teenager and love it today
This is such an awesome song! So much awesome talent in one room!! Love your reaction!
I'm glad you decided to watch it again. The short guy by Kenny Rogers is Paul Simon from Simon and Garfunkel.
Some people have pretty sad lives if they get mad at you for not knowing who their favorite singers are.....I mean how silly can you get.
I disagree. If you're sent requests, you should at least Google the Artist and song to familiarize yourself so that you can make a fair analysis. Who makes Any kind of Presentation without research? At least know what you're talking about. And yes I'm a musician and is familiar with each and every one of these Artists and their music!
@@MichaelS.Carter-v3kI agree with you , so much information on this is available , plus documentaries …
But does researching make the reaction not a true reaction?
This is like the final exam for music reactors. Don't worry about not knowing people - can't imagine why that would make people mad...
The true legend of this song I thing was Quincy... to get that much talent into one room and produce this amazing song.. Kuddos
You are the best don’t worry what they say, no you didn’t know when you first listened to this song so what!!! and now you do and have more of an appreciation for this song, because you recognize the singers and what an impact it had then and now, this was one of the great musical moments in history!!!!🎶 keep on doing what you do 💕🎉🎊🎶🎶🎶🎶
you did really well :)! hugs from Oz
You did great. I always enjoy your reactions 😊
Before Cyndi is
Huey Lewis. His group is Huey Lewis & the News.
You Rocked it.... 🥰

One of my favorite songs MJ is my favorite R.I.P king of pop I don't know all of the artists in this song
One of the most important videos of the decade. I know every single artist on this..
That first person that you don't know is the great Paul Simon of the famous duet SIMON & GARFUNKEL.
Nice job! I believe you have a good understanding of why this was so important to us when it came out.
Check out the documentary that came out a few months ago. Respect. Wait til you see them in the doc singing Harry Belafonte's Day-O!!!!
Now do Queen Live Aid!! It was also a charity event for Africa!
You do your thing I think you're doing a wonderful job ❤ Great reaction as usual my friend and Peace out ✌️ ☮️
Okay i hear you with the pipes! 😮💨
If you haven’t seen it yet I strongly encourage you to watch the documentary. It is so interesting.
BTW, I was alive and remember when the song came out, and I still missed some of the artist so don’t feel bad.
Great re-reaction!!! 🎼🙂
My first ever live concert was Springsteen “Born in the USA” in the Fall of ‘84. Must have been a few months before We Are The World was recorded.
The gentleman with Kenny Rogers is Paul Simon from Simon and Garfunkel. The gentleman after them isJames Ingram
Yes it was Billy Joel .
Just keep on doing the great reactions.
