I don’t care how hokey or corney these are, I still have a soft spot for them! These were some of the only ways a few of us got to see haunted houses back in the day.
If done well absolutely. This had not one jump scare or drop scare. It was a love boat on tracks 🤦🏻♂️ scariest part was the ride attendant jumping out of the way at the end 😂
Wow! That skeleton tunnel, the mine shaft scene and the stone tubes have been there since i was just a boy. I’m 45 now! Crazy to see it all again! Thank you.
Dracula's Castle is hokey and campy and retro. That's what makes it fun and nostalgic. It reminds me of my childhood. They fixed up the TerroRide a few years back and it's pretty cool, comparatively speaking.
Yeah that round stone corridor at the end clearly was meant to be rotating. And the big gorilla was just lit up when he must have had better lighting at one time lol Still I guess the broken stuff adds to the charm.
Some of those things haven't worked in decades. I worked at Lagoon 20 years ago and the tunnels didn't work even then. I recall hearing that it was too much work to have them fixed without a complete revamp of the building while working there.
For those asking where Dracula is, he *WAS* in it, near the beginning located at 1:20 but it looks like he was replaced by the horseman animatronic. Honestly would have taken a rework of Dracula over the weird pony that looks really bad.
I loved that they had a lot of the classic monsters in there, Frankenstein, King Kong, Headless Horseman, ect, but you can't call an attraction Dracula's Castle and not have Dracula and some vampire stuff in there!!
This is why Halloween is so fun. It can be hokey and janky but it is still awesome and tons of fun. This one was not so hokey or janky. There were a lot of cool - pro-looking scenes in that. Some WD40 would make the ride less squeaky. Too bad the rock tunnels weren't working. I could ride these ALL day over spinning rides! I would love to make some of these one day!
Some of these low-tech, rickety and creaky rides are the best and the ones you remember throughout your life, especially if they were terrifying seeing them as a young child.
I’ve got to say, they did a great job with this ride. You know you’re getting something relatively simple and perhaps even corny. However, they themed it very well. The ride was engaging and fun. Bravo!
As far a carnival level haunted mansion rides go, you can tell this on is at an actual park...even though some of the characters need some more scenery (the non-moving gorilla definitely needed some backdrop), overall the scenery is well-done (the mine area, skull water area, and tunnel are all very-atmosoheric)!!
2:36 im pretty sure the tunnel is supposed to be turning around, not sure because the first time i went to lagoon was about five years ago and i didnt go on this.
i have been going to lagoon for the last 40 years. that ride has not changed at all. they probably still have the same gum stuk to the outside of the building that was there when i was 5
If you're going to name a ride Dracula's Castle, then I expect everything to revolve around the myth and story of Dracula like vampires, werewolves, creepy cemeteries, etc. Not zombies and and other creepy things that aren't associated with Dracula. Might as well name it haunted castle then.
Unless the actors are on a very separate platform it could be dangerous because they could get stuck on the rails and in between carts. I know there are some attractions that have actors, but they’re more along the lines of a haunted hayride where it’s being driven and stopped at specific stops.
Short but very cool 🧟♂️👍🏼 Thanks for posting. Some other creators would find this ride too short and not worth it… I completely disagree. We want to see the short unique ones as much as we want to see all the others… So I appreciate this 🏆
I love those little cars that hinge closed. It doesn’t make me think if Dracula. But reminds me of a DeLorean, except that the hood opens from the front top and not the side.
i feel like adding creepy music to the ride would do a lot for it. And also try to hide the electrical cables/outlets at 1:31, maybe a dimmer/colored light would look better for the gorilla too.
This ride is pretty underwhelming compared to when I was a kid. I remember Dracula used to be standing on top of the castle and he looked much scarier. I Also remember Medusa's head looking down at you from the ceiling and there used to be some kind of creepy alien that would reach out and try to touch you.
Quite a bit late... But this was neat to watch. I do think that if they're going to have it be called Draculas castle 😂 it should be about going through his actual castle, but the ride was cool either way.
I worked at Lagoon and could ride the rides anytime. But I could never ride this one. It's not accessible to disabled people. Which I am. You have to lift you legs up over the sides of the ride cars to get into them. I could not. But I did get to walk through the ride behind one of the cars a couple of times. (Something park visitors can not do.) I enjoyed the attraction. I wish they would up date the cars so everyone can go through the ride.
2:25 Man the grave puns are really bad, but what the heck does Hattie M. Lastrites mean? All the others are jokes, but I can't find the joke in that one.
Some really fun and cool visuals, but it seems like the sound design was really lacking. Other than a few quick sound effects here and there, it's pretty much dead silent, without much auditory ambience or music of any kind.
He was in it at 1:20 but appears that he's been replaced by the horseman animatronic. He used to rise out of a casket and greet the riders but the effect was dated even 20 years ago.
I was so tired because I went on so many other rides and we we’re leaving for the day and we decide to ride Draculas castle and I ended up falling asleep because I was so tired
Is this the new version Where is Wally? BTW; i'm getting the feeling a lot of things are broken inside. But it's a fun ride with a lot of horror icons.
Cute for what it is, but it definitely needs to be a darker ride, as in the lighting. Way too bright, making the experience a bit less fun. Also, did I miss something? Where was Dracula on this Dracula ride? 😅
Well, there used to be a loud, train/car horn at the end right before you hit the end gates. Guess they took it away though, was probably too intense for children. I loved it as a child personally, however.
Ur going on a list for ur friends to help ppl out with this stuff lol I love ur music and I have a few things that are going on and now I’m not going on this much time I can’t do anything lol lol I’m sorry for all of that but I’m not going on my
I don’t care how hokey or corney these are, I still have a soft spot for them! These were some of the only ways a few of us got to see haunted houses back in the day.
Me too 💚 these used to scare the crap outta me as a kid.
If done well absolutely. This had not one jump scare or drop scare. It was a love boat on tracks 🤦🏻♂️ scariest part was the ride attendant jumping out of the way at the end 😂
How
And neck.
So good and retro feeling. I can smell the dust and humidity from here, beautiful!
So Good retro
And the smell of ozone from the electric track.
Excellent description, now I smell it too! 👏🏻👻
I love Terroride even more because it’s also scary! (Even if it got a renovation)
Thats literally how it smells inside of it too lmao
These old dark rides are literally my favorite!
Same here, Bill Tracy was the Master of Dark Rides
Wow! That skeleton tunnel, the mine shaft scene and the stone tubes have been there since i was just a boy. I’m 45 now! Crazy to see it all again! Thank you.
Right. I was like...this stuff still works....I thought it was breaking down in the 90's. wish that rock tunnel was spinning tho.
@@anthsallwonky LOL totally! That bone tunnel must be held up by only the coats of paint at this point!
Sadly everything else has changed since then. It's not nearly as cool or as creepy.
Dracula's Castle is hokey and campy and retro. That's what makes it fun and nostalgic. It reminds me of my childhood. They fixed up the TerroRide a few years back and it's pretty cool, comparatively speaking.
Dracula's Castle sure does have a lot of exits!
Ha right ruins the immersion
Hands down one of the Top B level Dark rides ever. Wish they still had the honkers at the end tho. Lagoon should be a national treasure at this point!
Wonder why they got rid of that
@@olsonbryce777 I think it still honks at the end of the Terror Ride, the other scary themed ride
Great dark ride, but it seems like a lot of stuff wasn't working and moving!
🤔
Yeah that round stone corridor at the end clearly was meant to be rotating. And the big gorilla was just lit up when he must have had better lighting at one time lol Still I guess the broken stuff adds to the charm.
Some of those things haven't worked in decades. I worked at Lagoon 20 years ago and the tunnels didn't work even then. I recall hearing that it was too much work to have them fixed without a complete revamp of the building while working there.
Yeah I remember those tunnels used to rotate when I was a kid.
Never even saw a Vampire.Let along, Dracula. Beyond, seems dent enough DR!
For those asking where Dracula is, he *WAS* in it, near the beginning located at 1:20 but it looks like he was replaced by the horseman animatronic. Honestly would have taken a rework of Dracula over the weird pony that looks really bad.
Or maybe He WAS the Headless Horseman all along. You don't Know it, but Dracula went headless once to scare Crane off.
Aww we went to this amusement park every summer when I was a kid! This brings back some great memories
Great old school dark ride 💀❤
Some of these low-tech, rickety and creaky rides are the best and the ones you remember throughout your life, especially if they were terrifying seeing them as a young child.
Rides like this are just SO cheesy that it's FUN to actually go through them. I'll admit, I have a soft spot for these types of rides.
I love ALL Retro And Dark Classic Rides! Thanks :)
Brings back so many memories
That first scream was a classic
I’ve got to say, they did a great job with this ride. You know you’re getting something relatively simple and perhaps even corny. However, they themed it very well. The ride was engaging and fun. Bravo!
I loved it all it needed was a scare actor somewhere near the end like they do in the UK 🇬🇧 with their dark rides. It seemed a good length too .
Agreed
As far a carnival level haunted mansion rides go, you can tell this on is at an actual park...even though some of the characters need some more scenery (the non-moving gorilla definitely needed some backdrop), overall the scenery is well-done (the mine area, skull water area, and tunnel are all very-atmosoheric)!!
That's a great dark ride!
Thanks for videos ♥️♥️
Truly classic, I love it!
I love your videos so much
Ive seen you before
That was a good one!
2:36 im pretty sure the tunnel is supposed to be turning around, not sure because the first time i went to lagoon was about five years ago and i didnt go on this.
Wat a nice ride. I'm fan please make more
Pretty cool! Very detailed interior and I've never seen haunted house cars quite like that before!!!
It's surprisingly spaciou in there too!
Great video My Friend ✔️🙌🆗👍🙌😃🆗👍🙌 big like
Wow. That place looked huge.
i love yalls vids! keep it up
Jeff Goldblum voice: "Now, eventually, you do plan to have Dracula in your 'Dracula's Castle' ride, right? Hello? Yes?"
(3/19/2022)
He was on vacation that week.
Very cool for a dark ride
So.... no Dracula at Dracula's Castle, huh?
My husband and I rode this one just this summer!!!
The scariest part must have been watching the carts plow into each other and then into the gate before climbing into one lol
i have been going to lagoon for the last 40 years. that ride has not changed at all. they probably still have the same gum stuk to the outside of the building that was there when i was 5
That was so amazing haha
Wow haven't been there in forever!
I grew up with the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland so when I moved to Utah and rode this I was pretty disappointed.
Amazing 😍👍
If you're going to name a ride Dracula's Castle, then I expect everything to revolve around the myth and story of Dracula like vampires, werewolves, creepy cemeteries, etc. Not zombies and and other creepy things that aren't associated with Dracula. Might as well name it haunted castle then.
Not wrong there. I was kinda expecting the same thing
So let's call it "Boo! Haunted Castle!"
So get over it I mean yes I would expect the same thing but I’m not gonna make a big deal about it
If it makes you feel better, I heard a wolf 🤷♂️
It used to have an old automaton of Dracula that moved awkwardly and spoke. Wonder when they took him out.
Happiest amusement park in the world
Love lagoon!!
Nice ride and fun. However, I was a little disappointed that there was no Dracula characters popping out. Overall, enjoyable.
Draculas castle is such a old school ride but it really needs to be redone a lot of the animatronics look soo life less
I LOVE dark rides!!! But I always wonder why they don’t put actual real scare actors in them! Would make it that much scarier!!!!
Unless the actors are on a very separate platform it could be dangerous because they could get stuck on the rails and in between carts. I know there are some attractions that have actors, but they’re more along the lines of a haunted hayride where it’s being driven and stopped at specific stops.
that...was pretty darn cool!
Oh this was sweet!
I begged to go on this all the time. As well as the go carts on beach road.
Short but very cool 🧟♂️👍🏼
Thanks for posting.
Some other creators would find this ride too short and not worth it… I completely disagree. We want to see the short unique ones as much as we want to see all the others… So I appreciate this 🏆
Wow this ride totally really creative I mean look at all of this props that get didn't hand Made but bought just wow....
Wich camera did you use?
Halloween theme ride
I love those little cars that hinge closed. It doesn’t make me think if Dracula. But reminds me of a DeLorean, except that the hood opens from the front top and not the side.
yes hope dracula buy delórain
Hi good morning ♥️🥺
Where was 🧛♂️Dracula???
I'd love for a chance to upgrade this for them
I'll help.
Superb ❤️❤️❤️❤️
So beautiful Video. I film în 360° as well. Congrats!
i feel like adding creepy music to the ride would do a lot for it. And also try to hide the electrical cables/outlets at 1:31, maybe a dimmer/colored light would look better for the gorilla too.

Gooy goose gassss gissss This ride is darn old
Spooky the house 🏠
1:02 WHAT THE HECK?!?! LOL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This ride is too scary.
1:54 Trimper's Walls
Quite a bit late...
But this was neat to watch.
I do think that if they're going to have it be called Draculas castle 😂 it should be about going through his actual castle, but the ride was cool either way.
A scary ride in a delorian 😁
Lol to the manual doors at the beginning.
Nice dark Ride.
I worked at Lagoon and could ride the rides anytime. But I could never ride this one. It's not accessible to disabled people. Which I am. I loved this but I don't like all those green exit signs it ruins the escapism a little.
They actually usually do have music playing throughout the ride, it was off for some reason when this was filmed.
They should rename this ride Hogan's Castle...
(It's a reference to something I'm not insane I swear.
It gets points for being a long ride!
Dracula's castle Frankenstein's monster, the Wolf Man, King Kong but where's Dracula?
He was in it at 1:20 but appears that he's been replaced by the horseman animatronic. He used to rise out of a casket and greet the riders but the effect was dated even 20 years ago.
Bond Bug?
Nothing like smelling that graphite mixed with WD40 smell to lubricate the track inside a dark ride, has that scary type smell lol : )
Super cheesy but awesome. Now just get all the effects working.
Shouldn't that round tunnel at the end be rotating?
I was so tired because I went on so many other rides and we we’re leaving for the day and we decide to ride Draculas castle and I ended up falling asleep because I was so tired
The scariest thing in Dracula’s castle are the carneys. 😂😂😂
Ok am I the only one who saw the neon Exit sign like halfway through the ride? Lol
That cart looks so rickety
Is this the new version Where is Wally?
BTW; i'm getting the feeling a lot of things are broken inside.
But it's a fun ride with a lot of horror icons.
Okay that was way too creepy! Did they even show Dracula? Haha
Kinda wondering what this had to do with Dracula??
why a 70's concept car styled cabin to ride inside a Dracula's castle???
So...where was Dracula?
Ok so...did i miss him or did Dracula's castle not have Dracula in it??? :O
It used to the headless horse,an replaced him
With just slightly better lighting that could be something to go and see. Wouldn't even cost that much.
That is it?
Cute for what it is, but it definitely needs to be a darker ride, as in the lighting. Way too bright, making the experience a bit less fun. Also, did I miss something? Where was Dracula on this Dracula ride? 😅
wrong vapier used get brihyrer l8ghts mider one vamouer sun kiggt linted time oút sun not inft al day outing
The effects on this ride were a little bigger than expected. The end just kind of gives up, though. Once you hit the morgue that’s it…
Well, there used to be a loud, train/car horn at the end right before you hit the end gates.
