I grew up on the Sweeney, hill Street blues and Miami vice. All were groundbreaking in their own right. The soundtracks to vice like this gem made it the best cop drama ever.
They also played Wasteland by The Mission in the famous Testarossa versus a lime green Lotus Esprit turbo. Some people allege that they have heard about 14 seconds of The Sisters of Mercy in the 5th or 6th Season.
Miami Vice started using a good bit of darker, alternative songs in season 3 and season 5 specifically to fit the more serious and grim tone the series was taking I believe.
Just started watching this episode on dvd. I felt bad for Tubbs when his girlfriend died in the shooting earlier in the episode. One of my favorite parts was when Zito told Crockett that Tubbs may have slept in the office overnight and then Crockett tried to talk Tubbs out of his plan to go undercover at the prison and he should have been dealing with his grief over his girlfriend. Tubbs just tuned him out and volunteered for it, though.
Amazing actor Laurence fishburne ,best film he done was deep cover ,you never see that movie anymore!!!😢 In Miami vice he plays a corrupt prison warden ,also ron" hellboy" perlman is in this episode
@JohnACorp782 The Show was focused more on Crockett. It would of been an even better show if it kept the promise of the pilot and gave his character the same weight. He's like a sidekick in the last couple of seasons.

So weird that they played a band like The Damned on this show, but I guess Miami Vice had a deal with MCA, which was the Damned’s label at the time.
