I've heard they use about 50,000 litres to go from Adelaide to Perth and back with two engines. I'm not sure what the Litres to 100 kms would be, though.

@@MS_Trains Works out to 100 litres for every 17.08 klms per engine !!!!!!! That equals $47500 per engine for fuel @ $1.90 per litre .
