I like your videos. You don't say, oh, there's a big freight train coming, but you have a lot of information, train number, departure point, destination, freight... it's fun to watch
Often grid lock between Port Pirie and Spencer Junction with only 3 loops. Maybe passing lanes at 5000M each is the way to go but I don't think we'll ever see double track out there without more traffic.
@@MS_Trains I understand what you are saying (and agree), but 5000M passing lanes are the first step towards dual track I am hoping to see. Also while we can't expect dual track without more traffic, we can't expect more traffic without dual track, or at least numerous passing loops. Long term goal (not in my life time though) is free running freight, and daily passenger services to the mid north. To quote a famous movie, "Build it and they will come."😄
The Ghan Expedition Service 7DA8E was the return trip for the train we rode on up to Darwin arriving 31 August using the same locos. We saw the southbound Ghan at Alice Springs with 2 red NR's, 18 and 109 when both trains had stopped for the off train experiences. When driving south we saw NR's 75 and 18 at Marla. How many red NR's are there, at least 4. I've tried googling without much luck. Anthony
It's incredible how much you've been able to keep track of, Anthony! Seeing a Red NR has been a pleasant surprise on the Ghan this year after most services early on in the year running with Pacific National liveried NRs. Sorry for the late response. There are now five NRs in the red livery, with NR18, NR74, NR75, NR109, and NR110 wearing a variant on the red Ghan livery. Thanks for watching.
Good work again highlighting some of the Rail freight heading west to Perth. There is a mini population boom going on in Perth at present because one is the lower priced housing on sale relative to Sydney. That is why WA gained another Federal Metro Seat at the expense of NSW for the upcoming Federal election. Keep up the highlights.
Crew accommodation between Port Augusta and Kalgoorlie due to the long distance without a crew depot. Crews work relay 8 on 8 off shifts along this section using the carriages for rest.
Thanks mate! Rumor mill is large on this topic. All ten AN's were at one point meant to be moved to Port Augusta for storage to free up Dynon. AN3 is meant to be returned to traffic last I heard aswell but not seen out yet. 94's on the way will likely see the end of the AN days and PN don't sell locomotives to other operators.
@@MS_Trains that is true & no they don’t (sadly). Seems a bit sad that no one is interested in preserving the old commonwealth railways, ANR or AN stuff. Unless of course it’s ex SAR! Cheers mate!

I forgot you're in Crystal Brook! That would be a lovely place to live. Not sure when I'll next be up there but if I'm free, I'll drop in for a cuppa and a train or two! Thanks for watching as always.

A very successful little trip North, 2MP9 in that morning light was impressive!
Can't complain at all! Only managing one or two-day trips for the moment. It was a pleasant surprise to see 2MP9 running early hours instead.
nice one mate
Thank you.

6:40, covered wagons, is that train carrying lead ore or concentrate?
1:57 What are the two carriages used for

I think I get it. The crew travel in the carriages and when the train stops, the crews come out of the carriages to help transport the freight right?
Great video mate! (Another one) are the AN’s retiring?
