Legend has it that whenever it thunders outside it's really Cliff Burton playing bass in Heaven.
And Paul Gray.
And when it rains he's just pissing
It better start thundering more then XD
@@ncrtrooper2856 yes
So true
They way Cliff Burton just bends the G string... like HOW DO YOU BEND A BASS STRING SO FLAWLESSLY?!?! He’s one of the greats for a reason. Rest easy legend.
Maybe he uses Slinky's or a different gauge
Some time ago I read on a YT comment he always used gauge 038 strings, so he could bend it easier. I can't confirm the veracity of it though
@@coldguto a combination of both, i think he had a .35 on the G and had the finger strength of a norse god
He used rotosound 35-90 strings so it wasn’t too hard to bend the strings. I could bend the e string up to 3 notes lol
@@THESONICSPEEDDEMON would u like a cookie?
2:00 The bassist of Queen looks like that guy at school no one talks to.
He is
He is lol
He literally is
He never even sang lead vocals
The other 3 did but not him
Other good ones:
Jeremy - Pearl Jam
Lounge Act - Nirvana
Dazed and Confused - Led Zeppelin
Come Together - The Beatles
Blew is better than lounge act IMO
@@Histgyph blew is good, but I like Lounge Act's tone and groove better.
Jeremy sounds like to Dying to meet You from Judas Priest
I also like Love Buzz, if you count that
Dazed and confused is a good bass intro, sure, but as a whole, it's kinda weak. I prefer Ramble On. Much better, and waaay more syncopated.
I'm a simple Metalhead, I see a Cliff Burton I click the Video
blxckbxre same bro I swear I'm literally at a meeting and I saw the notification walked slap out
0:24 I see this, I dislike the video.
Didn't know there were many Cliffs
Cliff Williams?
Lisbeth Rosa I mean many Cliff Burton
Every song from from "And... Justice For All" album better be in this list.
That's fucking hilarious.
I laughed too much at this...
Well I never...
🤘😜🤙
Lol
Funny
Here are some tracks that should honestly be mentioned as well:
-Psycho Killer - Talking Heads.
-Under Pressure - Queen.
-Dig - Mudvayne.
-Re-arranged - Limp Bizkit.
-Bullet in the Head - Rage Against The Machine.
I love the bass on Psycho Killer
Animal I Have Become - Three Days Grace
I Was Made For Lovin' You - Kiss
But Dig starts with bass and guitar
@@mrshirokost7936 but BRBR DENG BRBR DENG
Dragon Attack - Queen.
my 3 favorite bassists are:
1. Paul Gray (SlipKnoT) R.I.P.
2. Cliff Burton (Metallica) R.I.P.
3 Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath)
😂 mine too.. they should have put confessions by slipknot
1 Cliff
2 Dave Ellefson
3 Geezer
EDIT: Honorable mentions go to Peter Steele, Tom Araya, and Cronos
Weird how the oldest one is the only one still alive.
@@arminc4658 well Paul died from accidental overdose and Cliff was in a bus accident
@@slipknotfan2217 I know, I'm just saying it's weird to think about the fact that Geezer Butler is still alive and Cliff and Paul are sadly not.
Them: The bass is a rhythm instrument.
These Gods: Hold our beers.
cliff: nah its a way better replacement of a lead guitar
CLIFF
Most of these are still rhythm parts, they're just more prominent. It's a shame how rhythm parts don't get more appreciation, they hold the song together
So glad to hear “Would? “ on this list!!
Samee !!! On other lists also ...
Its literally two notes and one of them is open string. kinda weak sauce but sounds good
@@El_Guapo74 Simple but effective.
Random question, but what concert is that from?
Every guitarist ever: bass can't sound like guitar!
Cliff Burton: hold my beer
Cliff: hold my pickups
*uses octave pedal cutely*
For me, it’s “For Whom The Bell Tolls”. By far my favorite intro to play live.

1. For Whom The Bell Tolls
So seriously, who else came to MAKE SURE that for whom the bell tolls was number 1
I had to make sure to
David Kelsey not me because it shouldn’t be
@@Spike-lj8hh you dont deserve a say then
@@Spike-lj8hh Agreed
suddenly everyone forgets about The Clairvoyant by Iron Maiden?
Cliff played the bass like a guitar and he had the right and the might
No he didnt . If he was playing like a guitarist he would simply follow whatever James played like most bass players in that era. What distinguished him was his ability to actually bring some funk in metal and he knew his scales
Cliff definetly didnt play bass like a guitar, Jason Newstead has. Ciff had his own tone and way of playing
The only Bassplayer how played his Bass like a guitar is ,was and allways be Lemmy!
Yeah I seen a video where James said that! He also said he was surprised that Cliff didn't just play guitar which he actually did play guitar too.
@@sidetrak980 Cliff played bass like a guitar lol, just because he didnt double guitar doesn’t mean he didn’t play bass like a guitar, plus, he did double guitar a lot. And he has nothing to do w funk. If you take Phil Lynotts heart and jerry onlys brain and put it in a human, that would be Cliff.
I always love when you can actually hear the bass in the songs the full way through a song
I listen bassline of every song❤️
iron maiden has entered the chat
@@lmao7439 every band you can hear the bass all the way through, not just maiden
You forgot about Metallica's "My friend of mysery" and Priest's "The rage"
The God That Failed also has an awesome bass intro. Jason may not have exactly been not on Cliff's level, but he was so underrated.
At least we can all agree cliffs intro in For Whom The Bell Tolls is best! R.I.P. cliff
Kirito /kirigaya I know that another one bites the dust and wrathchild!
RIP🖤
I thought this line was a guitar tone lmao
RIP
@@assemcrghannam5920 dont worry when I was younger I did to
4 Words:
My
Name
Is
Mud
It should've been there instead of Jerry was a race car driver
that's one of the meatiest bass intros I've ever heard
Tommy the cat
Yes
Anything from Primus could be here
Glad to see Motorhead, that bass is so iconic.
That Alice in Chains baseline gives me chills
I expected Seinfeld intro.
That's a keyboard, not a bass.
I know, but its a good joke :)
That Barney Miller bass riff from the seventies TV show ruled...lol
Night Court as well
No, it's a bass, and I have seen several YT videos of people playing it.
People hate on Kiss a lot but they had some damn good bass intros.
70s music was good
why hate on kiss its too good for that
@John Cena yeah... rock built on sincerity only. No egos allowed. Right!
who ever hated kiss?
Gunnar Tómasson a lot of people unfortunately, the original 4 members are actually underrated yet good musicians
I’m not even a Led Zepp fan, but how on earth is “Dazed and Confused” not here? That’s easily in the top 3 bass intros imo.
same thought here
They couldn't play the song without copyright infringement blocking the video, maybe?
I'd but it between peace sells and nib
Probably more like top 10-5
It relies too much on the guitar to be considered for this list imo.
"Would?" is a masterpiece. R.I.P. Layne Staley and Mike Starr
Peace Sells But Who's Buying
Ur mom
skijumpnose What Do You Mean?
If Hysteria wasn’t on this list I would’ve headbanged my bedroom wall to oblivion.
Relax Kyle
Kyle can get aggressive.
Aah , you must be the arcane's newest addition !
i think it should ve been higher 8th is low
Hysteria might be one of *the* best bass lines.
Everybody loves cliff.🥳
R.I.P 🕯
U have inspired thousands and thousands of school kids, youth and all.
no one gonna talk about Paul Gray, rest in peace legend
Well Schism is definitely Tools most memorable bass line, I prefer the bass intro for 46 and 2 over Schisms.
Same
Don't forget Sober!
I also like the bass line for Intension.
the level of difficulty is the same in 46 and 2 and schism
schism is slightly harder to play
Mehdi J not really, you have to move your hands around more for 46 and 2 (personal opinion)
Good list! I will do mine, as a bass man myself:
1. Orion - Metallica (Cliff Burton)
2. Hysteria - Muse (Chris Wolstenholme)
3. Schism - Tool (Justin Chancellor)
4. Peace Sells - Megadeth (David Ellefson)
5. For Whom The Bell Tolls - Metallica (Cliff Burton)
6. 46 & 2 - Tool (Justin Chancellor)
7. Panic Attack - Dream Theater (John Myung)
8. Wrathchild - Iron Maiden (Steve Harris)
9. Killers - Iron Maiden (Steve Harris)
10. Money - Pink Floyd (Roger Waters)
11. NIB - Black Sabbath (Geezer Butler)
12. No More Tears - Ozzy Osbourne (Written by Mike Inez, performed by Bob Daisley)
13. Dazed And Confused - Led Zeppelin (John Paul Jones)
14. My Friend Of Misery - Metallica (Jason Newstead)
15. Runnin' With The Devil - Van Halen (Micheal Anthony)
Edit: Gotta give an honourable mention to Believer - Ozzy Osbourne (Bob Daisley)
Trekkie 135 thanks for acknowledging my friend of misery
A good list , would be absolute god-level list if you maybe added Pantera - Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills
Ah shit, good call!!
Another Metallica intro by Cliff: Damage Inc. One of my favorites for sure
Thanks, I was hoping I’d see Orion somewhere!
You forgot everything about Jason newsted my friend of misery black album and king nothing and others
King nothing doesnt start with bass
Where the wild things are is pretty good as well
Well, you cant argue with technically
@@generalknowledge9899 King Nothing starts the main part with bass, before James and Kirk recite the same line.
nirvana's blew and green day's longview are pretty badass
Graditude by Beastie Boys too!
And that all rhymed too!
4:21 - greatest bass outros
I know right, and it's from Stranger in a Strange Land by maiden and they didn't even mention it.
000-000-000-000-000-000-000-000
For Whom The Bell Tolls Better Be First Or I’ll Find you.
Edit: *Lucky.*
just what I was thinking
Technically the bells are the intro
Nate Higger true
Why should it be first
Apex Alex what kind of a person are you if you’re watching this video and have no clue why for whom the bell tolls is number one. It’s literally rock and metal and that intro is the best
Schism is probably my favourite bass guitar song.
Though it's a short intro I always loved the base on "No More Tears" by Ozzy.
I think the intro to my name is mud is better than jerry was a racecar driver
Yeah
American Life, Southbound Pachyderm and Is It Luck? are better than those two in my opinion (among many others).
Exactly!!!
Also John the fisherman.
I mean, who else has a kahler whammy and knows how to use it?
American life is my favourite bassline of theirs
Honorable mention : Black No. 1. by Type O. Maybe not a very difficult or "best" bass intro. But certainly one of the most recognizable.
Agreed I just learned how to play it

The thing with For Whom The Bell Tolls is that it isn't just a great BASS intro, it's one of the best METAL intros in general. Also one of the most influentiall for young bass players and the thing Cliff Burton gets remembered by most. It's litterally Cliff's legacy...
Bass is like salt...You can't distinguish it with guitars while playing with along but when it is absent the whole song get ruined
Apparently you have not listened to The Who...
Tell that to And Justice for All
Would? I agree with Loudwire for once.
same
nope overrated
would you agree that it's 12th though
YES
Finally! Cliff is no1!
I am a simple man, I see Cliff, I click
agrre
Да
No one talking about Mike Starr of Alice in Chains RIP LEGEND
Les claypol could have had all the standings to himself.
Pretty sad that Jeremy wasn’t on this list.
i don't know who at Loudwire does these lists...
good one!
Dittoids
Agreed Pearl Jam is way better than dream machine
Me too bubbabutt
Holy shit I never knew that the “for whom the bell tolls” intro was on bass
Yup
cliff had a technique he did a lot to do that, he also did it on Orion
Cliff was very creative and beautiful with his playing.
@@homelesscrackaddict9170 he also replaced the pickups on his bass with guitar pickups to get sounds like that
@@moldex1 for Real?
There honestly could only be one winner here! Not even a discussion!
duuuuude...Hysteria...gives me the chills every time
Bombtrack - Rage against the machine
Lethe - Dark tranquillity
Alison Hell - Annihilator
Poison was the cure - Megadeth
Dawn Patrol - Megadeth (Long live Ellefson)
Lethe is number 1 to me
Thank you for making the right choice for #1
If you're listening to it without headphones it just sounds like a bunch of silence and then everybody starts playing
Hysteria intro is bad ass. And of course we knew Cliff would be at #1.
I prefer 46 & 2 over schism as far as the bass intro is concerned
Vipersnakelyrics1 def
Vipersnakelyrics1 Schisms is more iconic for the band though.
ploob man so? its the best not the most iconic list lol
a man of culture
Co-signed
2:08 just started learning this song on the drums, now one of my favorite songs to play
Cliff is my absolute #1 favorite musician
I got the upload notification for this while I was playing the for whom the bell tolls intro hahaha
TheWTA for whom the notification tolls!
Alex Moreno for whom the notification *bell* tolls
Haha... i'll leave now,don't worry
Péter Kádár lolz
i think peace sells is my favorite
Should have been higher.
It's one of my favorites also the song that was playing when I got in my first traffic stop (cop let me go even though I was running 90 in a 70)
Definitely the most iconic. As a child I knew that opening before the actual song because of MTV
Dave Ellison is underrated
Considering all music genres, I would mention Everybody Dance and Good Times (by one of the greatest bassist in history, Bernard Edwards) and Jamiroquai's most famous songs like Cosmic Girl (especially the live version in Verona). These basslines are epic!
Yesss so glad Mike Starr made it on here. His intros to Rain when I die and angry chair are awesome too.
What about:
"Guns of Brixton" - The Clash
"Riders on the Storm" - The Doors
"The God that Failed" - Metallica
Yeah, why didn't they just make the video ten thousand hours long to accommodate everyone's personal favourites?
There wasn’t a bassist in The Doors
Metallica sucks Dick
The Doors don’t have a bass plauer genius
Swap god that failed with my freind of misery
I love all bass intros From The list
Same just add hysteria and peace sells
peace sell
I love that Money and Another One Bites the Dust and Schism is on here. Schism was one of the first songs I learned.
Rip Mike starr. Doesn't get the recognition he deserves. That would bass line is awesome.
NIB NIB NIB NIB !!!!!!!!!
Konstantinos Ernesto Economou new in box
You forgot seven nation army
Wait
That was crazy how he did that with a guitar
@@MrBeef-ec3gd he used whammy pedal and half-acoustic baritone guitar
Frank Bald yeah I always thought it was a bass line
Seriously where's No More Tears?
@@MrBeef-ec3gd he used a octave pedal if you didn't know
Soooo what about Lounge Act by Nirvana and I Was Made For Lovin' You by KISS?
and Jeremy by Pearl Jam
Definitely lounge act
Lounge act needed to be here. And hairspray queen.
Sooo what about longview by Green Day? Lol
@@ezraterry4219 Hairspray queen seriously? The best 15 bass intros of all time and you pick you the most unknown and intentionally ugly song ever😂
THANK YOU LOUDQIRE FOR APPRECIATION OF ALICE IN CHAINS AND MUSE. Thank you.
I am a huge Maiden / Metallica and Megadeth fan but for me Hysteria / Muse is the best bass introduction. Its amazing and a great song
Same here! Huge fan of megadeth, metallica and MUSE. Beautiful, very unique group
Technically and musically nothing touches the Schism intro. For a balls out rock intro riff, Ace Of Spades is unmatched.
schism is just playing the open d string while playing 3 notes on g. not that hard. primus is waaaay harder to learn.
Schism isn't hard to play although it's very recongizable and good riff.
BoozerBane The original comment was praising the Schism intro for its technicality, he was just responding dumbass
MasterMarf the hysteria riff is hard to play
They are all amazing, but the intro to Schism by Tool just changes my entire emotional landscape as soon as I hear it.
I think that’s what makes music so important; it’s incredible power to grab your state of mind and alter it utterly.
woulds bass intro is so ugh cant get enough of it
Good collection from great Rock bands.
Absolute excellent choice in showing the day on the green as #1. Cliff Em' All! I can honestly say THIS was the scene that inspired me to play bass over 20 years ago. RIP Mr. Burton.
That part and Anethesia live at the Metro in 83’ has inspired me
@@JustSomeGuy38790 Legendary
I really appreciate that you included Death. I love Death and the song Spirit Crusher is just awesome! There are couple just genius riffs in that song!
Jealousy on the fretless is don’t to damn shabby!!
Flattening of Emotions, Overactive Imagination, but The Philosopher is another one
Oh good Primus although I would have put them up a little higher on the list but I'm glad to see they made it. I love that intro.
Excelente video grande cliff burton se le extraña y recuerda desde chile abrazos 🤘🤘🤘🇨🇱
I'm just gonna say it now, if For Whom The Bell Tolls ain't number 1, I will literally cry.
Im so glad N.I.B and Ace of Spades is on this list
Honestly, I can remember by Korn has a pretty cool bass line as well, it’s just all about that tremble y’know?
Love the bassline in the outro :-)
I almost agree... still no Rush
MusicLovinMotherFckr IKR?! WTH!
I know right wtf!!!!!!
Ghost Rider would be a perfect fit
Ghost Rider would have been great; unfortunately loudwire's pretty lazy
MusicLovinMotherFckr what rush song has a bass intro ?
I knew number one would be for whom the bell tolls
w00dmii5t3r same
Always loved black sunshine by white zombie. Rocking list
Dude, his light up fretboard inlays!! 😮 wtf? I want some for my bass. Those are so fucken rad. They not only look good but Damn how useful they can be. Gorgeous.

Lol
YOU WERE THE CROWN
it sounds a lot like " I'm so sick " by Flyleaf
King nothing, My friend of Misery, Force 10 by Rush
Fuck dude even YYZ maybe
Creativenate YYZ starts with a triangle might I mention
Common Avionics YYZ’s intro is played on a Crotale

U guys wait for "for whom the bell tolls" i wait for peace sells
No More Tears - Ozzy Osbourne
ZOMBIE STOMP!!!!
And Hellraiser, the No More Tears album has some great bass riffs
Iron Maiden - The Clairvoyant?
Sepultura - Spit?
Rage Against The Machine - Bullet In The Head?
EdgeTV for Iron Maiden i might prefer Innocent Exile
Bullet in the Head is a badass fucking song with a killer bassline
Definitely great musicians
This list has a good variety
I'm a simple metal fan; I see Lemmy, I click like
My friend of misery should've been in there somewhere man
Who?
Shane Kemp It's a song by Metallica with an AMAZING bass intro by the great Jason Newsted!
Shane Kemp its a wonderfull metallica song
how about devil's dance and
the god that failed?
TGTF - you right; I'm still with FWTBT as #1, but still...
Lounge act Nirvana?
I really like the bass in the opening of Hammer Smashed Face by Cannibal Corpse.
"Black No. 1", Type O Negative (though the bass intro in tracks like "Creppy Green Light", "All Hallow's Eve" and "Hail and Farewell to Britain" are dapper, in my book)
Jake The Voice Thaaaaaanks man
Tool - The Pot
Tool - The Grudge
Tool - Fourty six&2

Rhys Mcconnell Damn Right
Tool-Schism
Schiiism

Metallica - The God That Failed
Tool - Forty Six And Two
Venom - Witching Hour
RATM - Bombtrack
Kiss - I Was Made For Loving You
Avenged Sevenfold - An Epic Of Time Wasted
Green Day - Longview
No matter how much I agree with Cliff at No1, I would still include "My friend of misery" here. Jason is a legend too.
N.I.B. by Black Sabbath

And
Money by Pink Floyd of cours
Ярослав Курашов Not N.I.B. ...my choice would be Hand Of Doom.
