There's one episode where Marge and Homer are trying to spice up their marriage and try to have sex all over Springfield. Need i mention the picture Mrs Krabapple sends Bart when he tricks her into a relationship through letters? There's been many strong drug references, too. The porno mag in Ed Edd and Eddy is for parents who are stuck watching it with their kids. The Simpsons has a few jokes for kids that will inevitably watch, but it's 100% written for an older audience. If you still don't think so, set yourself a lot of time aside, sit down and watch as much of the show as you can, and actually take note.
J.J. also, the f word was in the show, but was cut by the network. It's in the episode with The Who, when the microphone gets thrown at Marge, Roger Daltrey told Marge to "get out of the fucking way". It's a deleted scene on the DVD.
Early seasons of The Simpsons (s1-10 I grew up watching 'em) are fine for kids, some of the humour was even targeted at them, so that it had something for everyone. It slowly started to become more like family guy and relied more on below belt humour, being less child friendly.

Early seasons of The Simpsons (s1-10 I grew up watching 'em) are fine for kids, some of the humour was even targeted at them, so that it had something for everyone. It slowly started to become more like family guy and relied more on below belt humour, being less child friendly.
