  • Qatar Mind Blowing 6 Star Ultra Luxury Hotel You Need To See For World Cup 2022
New hotels open in Doha ahead of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 amid sky-high demand for accommodation
The hotels are set to host a significant number of fans and officials during the World Cup season amid accommodation price surge
Raffles and Fairmont are set to open their luxury hotels and residences in Doha ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The iconic Katara Towers in Lusail will be the property housing the new Raffles and Fairmont.
The Katara Towers are a distinctive architectural construct designed as a representation of Qatar’s national seal, the arched towers will house the two hotels. Fairmont will have 362 rooms and Raffles will have 132 suites.
The Raffles hotel will also have other features like boutiques, movie theatres, restaurants and lounges.
“A challenge is an opportunity, we have gone a very long way in all aspects to create two absolutely iconic hotels, both of them are very distinctive but both have one shared vision,” Christian Hirt, Managing Director of Raffles and Fairmont Doha, told Arabian Business.
“There is a different state, pattern, behaviour that we know when people come to see a match, they come to have certain entertainment … we have for the world cup tailor made our entire offering much more towards what the guests that would be staying with us require, look for and need,” he explained.
The hotels are currently fully committed to the FIFA organisation and are set to open to the public after the World Cup tournament.
Hirt explained that the football scene is big and that operations had to be adjusted to tailor make it around football but at the same time there are also spaces available in the hotel to take a step back from the football frenzy.
“The GCC is definitely a market where we will surely get a significant number of visitors,” said Hirt.
In terms of recruitment, the hotels have over 96 nationalities and 1200 employees, the project has been worked on for over 18 months.
“We have food and beverage that across the whole project is basically a culinary world tour,” added Hirt.
An architectural project designed by Klint Consult for the Katara Hospitality Group, the Katara Towers are intended to be one of the symbols of Qatar. Strongly influenced by the national coat of arms, the design of the towers, with its curved lines, evokes two crossed swords. The building, which is expected to be completed in time for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, will house two luxury hotels, luxury apartments and workspaces.
Katara Towers has been awarded a five-star rating by the Global Sustainability Assessment System Design and Build (GSAS), an environmental certification for infrastructure in North Africa and the Middle East. The challenge was to ensure the low environmental cost of such a project while guaranteeing the well-being of future occupants. Many solutions signed by Saint-Gobain contribute to the achievement of these ambitious objectives.
Weber provided flooring and waterproofing solutions for the construction of these two towers. Nearly 3,500 tonnes of mortar from a local Weber site were delivered for this project.
In addition, more than 10,000 square metres of KIMMCO-ISOVER thermal and acoustic insulation, produced in Kuwait, were selected to optimize the building’s performance.

$300B is a ridiculous amount, even for the World Cup. Qatar's sovereign fund is only $450B.
