As a person playing Supermodifieds here in Australia I can see cars from mid 60s to late 70s. Our cars generally followed US trends though we had more 6 cyl cars. Slant 6s in particular. Our cars generally had steel wheels with solid centres as the alloy wheels here were expensive. This went on until the mid 80s on Sprinters. In the 60s Chevs were very expensive and rare here so we got a lot of cars with Mopars of all sizes, a few Ford 6s and V8s and quite a few Holden 6s. The slick dolomite tracks of that era rewarded the smaller engines at times. And those engines too were cheaper. We run on modern rough hooky tracks these days with modern style tyres. So freeing up the suspenion is imperative or they break things as well or are very slow. The car I have was built late 60s and is presented as it ran 75/76 season. With Holden 6, shortened gearbox with clutch [as was required] and Austin A90 [big Healey style] diff. Chassis is fully fabricated and based on two square tube rails [again the rules] And as scrounged in period from a front runner who had gone centre lock wheels composite rims. Before that it had run 13 and 14" steel rims with winter tread front and road race tyres rear. In this clip do I see Garry Patterson around 5.15? If so a local car he drove is playing with us. And eventually a Marshall Sargeant late 60s car will re emerge. The Mike Wasina car from the early 70s is alive a playing in Sydney
LMAO! Hero's of Super Modifies. I was racing Alcohol way back in 1967, When did you all start. My Cousins the Milbourn Brother's was racing cars when I was young and I am 83 years old. I get a kick out of these want to bee's. I raced Marshall. Mo. Topeka Kansas Savannah , Mo. Marysville. Mo. Council Bluff , Iowa. Topeka Kansas Lawrence Kansas and yes several of the Midwestern State Fairs. And yes I have a shelf of Trophies. It is so funny how you all became Hero's. How many deadly races have you survived? When ou want to name real Hero'w look back when it was real Racing over bumper car sports.
Nothing will ever be as good as the good old days of racing thanks for the video
Love those old race cars from my childhood years. Super cool stuff.
I spotted some old, rare pics of Dave Frusher, Davey Ross, & Everett Isaac's #8 car in there.
