I got some cheap white contact paper for the top of it to conceal the grow light. It came yesterday and I put it on and I love it! I'll have to share the updated look soon! 🫶
I bought the black one you wanted and took it apart and spray painted it white. looks good too. Maybe that's what you should of done since you really wanted the bigger one. It was really easy.
I had an issue like that with a stand and I took that top shelf off and turned it upside down so it was completely flat and everything I wanted to sit on it fit then.
I just rolled clear packing tape into long strips and stuck it down in between the gaps and stuck a strip of it like a flap behind the door and it keeps the humidity between 60 and 80% so I’m good with that. My anthuriums are putting out new growth and seem pretty happy after about a month, so far so good!
My friend spray painted the larger one white because her plant room all white. It looks perfect. She got 3 of them total and has them across the top of a credenza in her plant room. (All her planting supplies are in it.) She’s so dang organized and it’s all so beautiful 😍

As someone who works with acrylic (aka plexyglass) as a full time job I can definitely understand you to buy a cheaper option for the inside. I wanted to do little stands like that few years ago and when I did it to be able to see how I will have to charge ect... I finally made the conclusion that even for myself the option I can buy on Amazon are impossible to beat! I do use a thicker acrylic thi because I found the one thay use really thin and easy to break for the use I have for them, but it's still cheaper😅 With the economy we are in people won't buy something at 50/60$ if they can have similar for the half on Amazon 😅
I bought Ikea's larger ÅKERBÄR in black and set it on two Ikea Tjusig shoe racks, also in black. The Tjusigs are stackable, so the ones I bought (31W x 12.5D x 14.5H) made a 29"H stand for the Akerbar. Ikea supplies "cleats" to keep the stacked units stable. I have plants cascading down the middle shelf to cover plant supplies I keep on the bottom shelf. For light in the greenhouse, I used one bar of the Barrina 4-strip set, attached w/a magnet (at an angle) at the top back "seam". Works great as a corm incubator. Hope this helps someone.

Yay! I bought one of these a couple weeks ago, the gold one. My fiance built it for me, grateful for that, we are thinking about putting some screws in around the bottom to keep the base and top attatched. And I'd like to weather strip it or anything to make it more airtight for terrarium purposes since im keeping carniverous plants in it. Interesting to see your take on it. I got my akerbar (bigger black one) deliverd to me yesterday (saturday 10th). So excited, opend the box and could already close it again. Broken ofcourse. As many pieces i order on line from Ikea. From the moment it's fragile. it arrives almost everytime broken. Thursday 15th another one will be deliverd. I begged (again) to please let them pack it better. So when the postman puts boxes on top of this box it doesn't break or if he decides to play football with it, it can stand a blow. It's soooooo beautiful your little greenhouse, looking forward to mine. You solved already a problem i was thinking about. How to put the growlight. Now i don't have to worry anymore. This was so fun! My creative brain is engaged. If It were my cart I would have a piece wood cut (and painted white) to fit the inset and another (also painted white) slightly larger to sit on top to accommodate the greenhouse. Again this was fun!
Hi Melissa 💫 Your greenhouse turned out absolutely beautiful and so elegant. I have the larger greenhouse in black and if you wanted another option in the future or to add above your riser, I went to the Dollar Store and they have self adhesive peg board type squares that fit perfectly in the small or large Akerbar cabinets. They also have small rings that fit into the pegboard that I use for my small condiment cups size props and you can also buy little shelves that fit in the peg holes. Mine is set up with 3 squares, shelves and a ring and I absolutely love it. They do come in black and white as well. Just thought I’d share for you or anyone looking for a cheaper alternative to the more expensive peg board options and the shelves are really sturdy I have 3.5” planters with pon on them. I can’t wait for the cabinet build. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. 🙏🏻💫

So cute. Definitely good for rehabbing plants or grow baby plants. I love to get one aswell. But i don’t like is made of plastic instead of glass. Ikea has changed alot of products to plastic now. Even the picture frames.
Can you flip the top shelf of the display stand upside down? The corners of the greenhouse would hang over obviously but it would be sitting on flat surface. Everything still looks super cute. Enjoy!

Maybe the greenhouse can fit on a plant stand if you remove the top plate of the plant stand and put the greenhouse on top of the plant stand and fix them with, for example, double-sided tape... And you can put the top plate of the plant stand on top of the greenhouse.

It's your preference really. I fill mine mostly to the top because it dries out fast for me. I underwater them all the time 😅 It depends on how big your vessel is, how much light, humidity etc and how rooted the plant is - all will use up water at different rates :)

If you assemble the plant stand with the metal frame upside down.. where the longer part is on the top? instead of on the bottom? it will hold your greenhouse in place perfectly. Sorry if that was confusing hope it made some sort of sense
I agree! I realized after i assembled mine but really didn't want to re do it. I saw a friend of mine do hers upside down and the greenhouse fit perfectly and snug-ly inside the plant stand. Wish I could attach a picture 😅
Is it possible to get a wood piece to use a platform on top of the white table? that would be cute! Somehow, you'd have to figure out a way to secure it.
I think when I was searching I saw different styles and sizes. If you do a search for acrylic risers I'm sure you could find something. Maybe even just buy two of the smaller ones to do side by side!

get a piece of plywood and cut it to insert into the top tray to level it, painting it white will make it less noticeable.

If you assemble the plant stand with the metal frame upside down.. where the longer part is on the top? instead of on the bottom? it will hold your greenhouse in place perfectly. Sorry if that was confusing hope it made some sort of sense

I agree! I realized after i assembled mine but really didn't want to re do it. I saw a friend of mine do hers upside down and the greenhouse fit perfectly and snug-ly inside the plant stand. Wish I could attach a picture 😅
You could flip over the top tray.on the stand maybe?
Is it possible to get a wood piece to use a platform on top of the white table? that would be cute! Somehow, you'd have to figure out a way to secure it.
Couldn't you reverse the top of the stand so it would just have a flat top? That might work...👍
I'm not sure! I'll have to see what the bottom of it looks like now. I think the metal part will stick up on the underside 🤔
Turn the top shelf on the stand over and it will be fine.

I think when I was searching I saw different styles and sizes. If you do a search for acrylic risers I'm sure you could find something. Maybe even just buy two of the smaller ones to do side by side!

Chai will eat it the other two not so much. I buy some occasionally but I forget to water it sometimes and it dries up so I end up tossing it out.
