Hey Skyline, I'm a long time viewer and I just want to say your last few videos have really sparked a big change in my life. I am living my life far better and have been surpassing my limits in all facets of my life, I really appreciate your passion for making truly high quality content that will actually have a positive long-term effect in the lives of your viewers. Thanks a bunch, keep up the good work
skyline started out being the most positive overwatch content creator now he is the most life positive content creator. videos about overwatch used to fit with other games and now they fit into a good life.
Skyline I would like to see your entire process of climbing into a random game to top 50 or whatever like with commentary or what. Would be cool to watch that on twitch for example.
One of the English books I used had a section on what language styles not to use. It had a convenient list of things I should never do. I converted that list, in my head, to the best and most efficient ways to be rude. It improved my offensive roleplaying on IRC and made the proper memory last longer by association. I did the same thing again here. Thanks for the opportunity.
You mentioned before you like to set goals in various games. It would be so cool to see you put to practice and give analysis as you hit goals in variety of games. I think plenty of us found you through overwatch, but most are sticking around for your insight and personality. It'd be cool to see you play and switch things up between OW and similar, magic, chess, shogi, really anything
Hey sky. Glad you are back. Hope your channel will pick up for you. Love your content since I started to have more methodical and analytical approach to my improvement. Thanks and see you in the next one. 😄
My way of curbing expectations is this, I'll assume very little of everyone around me, but I don't know what they lack. So as the game goes on, if genji keeps going in on his own, then I know when it's time to group up, genji doesn't care. If rein is having trouble playing against the enemy rein, then I'm not going to make a plan based on him winning that fight. On the other hand, what ever they excel at, I'll attempt to exaggerate with my own play. If our rein is hitting shatters non stop, I know who I'm going to nano. If McCree likes to flank, I'm not just going to sit still with my shield up, I'm going to create chaos so he can pop off.
I think u have some great points and examples in this video. Good work keep it up! If you expect something from someone, especially from more distant people of even strangers, setting the bar not too low but just low enough is a good general approach. But do Keep in mind to permanently adjust your expectations according to the situation or the individuum! Because I think in general you want to have individual expectations that are adapted to every phenomenon you face and not according to a general set of expectations that you have because of your experiences (In my oppinion thats the biggest problem for a lot of people - they have static, general expectations for everything because they value certain experiences too much and blur their view onto new experiences). I feel like after watching your video I got some good input and advice for my problem, but it would be cool to hear some more thoughts on how you structure your own expectations of yourself. I'm very self aware and can't really properly frame myself and it's very hard for me to stick to a frame i set myself.
in my experience, when its something i cant control like i hurt my leg really bad and was waiting at the hospital, having the worst expectation (never be able to use it again) made me feel better when they told it was broken idk how you call this but it works for me.
It made you feel better afterwards but I bet you felt real bad while waiting. Sometimes worrying too much can literally make the body sick as well over time. I think it's a balance. You don't want to get disappointed but you also don't want to be worried about things outside your control. I try to prepare myself for different scenarios and then I say to myself "it's out of my control now, so I'll deal with it once it's in my control".
Honestly for twitch you should stream preferably games you have never played and walk us through your thoughts process if that's not to anoying for you. I would love that !
@@platinumorange1034 actually, i think its better to overestimate your enemy, forces you to play smarter until you can actual tell how good the enemy actually is
I expect my teammates to be useless, to stand there and walk around while I'm fighting making space dying trying to give them opportunities to get value. I expect my teammates to not know anything, not how to play, not how to aim, no gamesense, etc. I'm almost never disappointed because my teammates are almost always useless. When my teammates are actually competent, it's a very pleasant surprise and I support them as well I can.
Loving the new videos but when you mention the bad things or the problems you see with others, I am interested to see what a perfect scenario or the correct way to do something is
Ok, so i'm really into this fighting game : Brawlhalla, and my Issue is that I expect way to much coming from my opponent, i'm like super defeatist, It's like hey if I do X he's going to do Y and I will loose the trade etc... I hesitate to much and I can't find a way to deal with it.
Dont hesitate . its a gamble . if u hesitate u are not convinced by your ,,read'' . When u think u got the opponents rythm all figured out,why hesitate? If u know how he will probably attack put all u got into a counter Punch. Its high risk High reward but i assume thats your playstyle. The Condition for this Playstyle is that u gotta read the enemy before he can overwhelm u with combos, evey game.
great vid :) in your experience do expectations matter as much/in the same way when there aren't teammates to rely on? I've been playing a bunch of ffa deathmatch in overwatch lately and usually expect the enemy players to be better than me...
I don't really understand, first you say 50% is to low and you should expect something like 55% to 65%, then you say you should expect the bare minimum like 25%. Could you (or somebody else) clarify a bit?
because expectations in the end of the day determine how you approach things. if they are high, you either blame everyone else for not meeting them, or you will blame yourself too highly in situations that where out of your control. basically they hinder a balanced approach.
did you try to play bronze/silver? you can expect anything anytime. smurf popping off, unimaginable misplays by either team, surprise flanks by any hero etc. higher ranks probably lose some of this charm by people playing predictably well.
absolutely not. ranked is hella random on all ranks. only because gms think they know how to teamfight, doesnt mean they always do it right. sure, the quality changes but you cant outrule mistakes from lower ranks and most likely small mistakes are gonna get punished more which makes them snowball much
Your overwatch central interview was a little disappointing. I imagine that you're a very smart person and you usually make the right choices and probably know more than most people, so maybe me giving you advice wouldn't be heard well. I think it's easy to criticize, partially because you feel like you can do a better job and you see a better vision (for blizzard/overwatch), however I think it's important to respect their position and efforts and help them make better decisions by voicing solutions (not just criticism). I struggle with the same issue with my job and it's something I am hyper-aware about. Skyline, you're a good guy but let's try to be more understanding and try to create solutions and building ideas - since it's harder to create something and be criticized for your ideas than it is to criticize someone elses ideas without putting yourself out there.
He just asked me the questions on the spot. I didn't actively seek to criticize Blizzard or Overwatch, he simply asked questions and I answered. I could have abstained, misdirected, or lied, but I just answered them in the short time allotted however I thought at the time. I would understand your disappointment if I were actively campaigning against Blizzard's decisions with Overwatch, but for the exact reasons you gave I am not doing that. He also posted the interview without first showing it to me, so I'm not sure what was cut or not and what the final narrative became. Simply refusing to answer the questions would have been the only solution to what you're talking about, I think
Lost me at the expect nothing example. You seem like you almost got these kind of ideas but you are stuck in a mental bubble so you don't know how the real world examples actually work. Somehow you managed to meander to the correct answer of have low expectations. So that's good. You mention that you get into the top % of whatever games you play, it tells me that you may not be entirely aware of just how you're getting to these levels. It reminds me of the kind of person that recommends P90X type workouts to people that are just getting started. Ooof, or an O-2... Yeah that is actually it. You're an O-2 trying to talk to your E-5s about how to go about their job.
yeah he isnt that clear and kind of goes off on loose tangents, i think if he were to use a list on screen to stay on point and expand about the points he wants he'd be better at explaining things, not confuse people as much, and also realize where some of the gaps in his own explanations are
@@johnsmith-fk7fw I'd say he would have been better off not posting this one at all since he isn't going to add much to the subject, or at best make some gamers think that he is trying to say that being good at games = good in the corporate world. Consider only victory. Make defeat an impossibility in your mind.
THANKS DAD
Take me to the top! If you know me, you don't know me to stop, I need the top!

8:12 That's not how statistik works but your Point still stands :D.
Thanks for the Video
I expected some tasteful decor, but all I got was a blank wall.
So to sum up: always assume people are shit... but only kinda shit.
We'll watch you hit leaderboards in any game
Me: "I don't expect anything"
Skyline: "The people who have this mindset are the Widow pickers"
Me: "Well, you're not wrong..."
I guess in reality I just expect teammates to try, which isn't quite expecting nothing
so glad ur back :)
looking like a snack btw
keep making content like this it really good!
Does this apply to expectations of opponents
reverse it: always expect 75% from your opponents
Good question
For opponents don't underestimate and don't overestimate

Amazing video skyline but I have one question how about expectations for yourself? In this video you mainly just covered expectations in other people
I think he was saying that if you're performing at 55 OR 60 % then you're climbing

would appreciate
