    That is really lame to hear that blizzard took that advice as an attack, especially when you have youtubers like Stylosa who constantly are leaking content and criticizing the balance team but still get to work with Blizzard esports

    Skyline, you have the best overwatch content on youtube, hands down. It’s positive, enlightening, helpful, insightful, objective, entertaining, creative, and it ultimately shaped the way that I view the game.
    Also, i want to emphasize that you 100% have the most positive overwatch content on youtube. Your intentions with that are received and appreciated!
    Stoked to have you back, for whichever games you decide to make videos on.

  • @HiKimiko
    @HiKimiko 5 років тому +25

    I'm sad blizzard sent you that message as a first response. They could have been more positive about all the other content you've posted. You've given them free promotion and players resources. I still use your settings videos when new patches mess up my settings.
    When I see the UA-camrs that blizzard decides to work with and the content they create, I do think they support the wrong people in the community to some extent. A lot of them are speculation channels that have their game play on repeat with voice over on their opinions. Not much of it is valuable information, useful tutorials, or have any editing quality behind them.
    I came to your channel because of Overwatch, but understand if your channel becomes more variety.
    Best wishes on your journey and its impressive to see how you've adapted to esports. ❤️👍

  • @OrpheusMC
    @OrpheusMC 5 років тому +4

    So awesome to see a new video from you. That message you got from Blizzard sounds really disturbing but I agreed 100% with your criticism about the “go big or go home” mentality they have when it comes to changing their characters. It really knocked the wind out of me and reduced the amount of fun I had playing Mercy and Symmetra when they were changed. Honestly if Moira had not been released in that timespan to fill the void I might have stopped playing altogether.
    I have a feeling you have moved far beyond Overwatch at this point but since you asked, I would love to see videos where you pick a particular pro or high ladder game and examine the gameplay. Specifically examining what their gameplay objectives are and what their thought process might be. Basically a video to help me improve me game sense lol.

    Got lucky with the UA-cam algorithm actually recommended something recent, relevant, and great from my subscriber list!
    Glad to see you back and I'd wholeheartedly it 2nd the sentiment of you being some of the most positive OW content... It was you, prolikechro, and fitzyhere that helped me get out of bronze.. Now have 2 accounts in mid diamond and the 3rd in low diamond.
    The overlying message and what ultimately helped me improve from your content was the mental aspect.
    If anyone has ever played racquetball.. Focusing too much on the score can kill you and you could end up in a 5 or more point reverse sweep (mental games at work here)
    Anyway.. Glad to see you doing well and appreciate the honest sincerity of your return video.

    I was just recently thinking "gee where did that Skyline fella go", glad to see you back! Fun fact, I've got a Razer Ornata thanks to your old keyboards video, I'm glad I saw that one. The whole "mecha-membrane" tech was never on my radar and reviews tend to be very mechanical-biased, but because of that video I found that it's basically what I was hoping for, thank you. ^^
    Looking forward to seeing what sort of content you put out, I followed for the Overwatch tips of course (and I'm sure that played a big part in drawing others in), but the idea of more gaming-in-general advice and such sounds really good. Certainly stuff like aim practice, awareness, etc are pretty universal - at least to shooters - and mentality often applies to far more.

    Even after 1,5 years, whenever someone asks me how to get better at overwatch, I still, to this very day, tell them to watch your videos. You're like the ultimate teacher. You're able to break complicated matters into simple things that are very easily digestible, no matter how complicated the original matter actually is. As I'm thinking about a teaching career myself, you've always been quite a role model for me. More so, you have quite literally changed how I view life itself, so I'm glad to see you back!

    Good to see you back Skyline, your type of content really helped me begin to shape my perception of team composition logic, which blended effortlessly with the good educational content of the greats that became community superstars during your absence. Was really digging your Map Mastery series as well, wishing for its continuation was personally the biggest reason I never lost hope in this subscription, maybe a reboot with new insights would be cool if you consider what you learned in your journey would warrant such a thing. In either case I'm sure your content will rock be what it may.

  • @Cu61c
    @Cu61c 5 років тому

    Well you asked for comments so here you have one. Time for a little essay in shitty English (sorry about that lol).
    First, I want to say that I am super happy that you are returning to making youtube videos. Your earlier videos helped me grow massively as an Overwatch player but also as a person. They helped me becoming a reflecting adult with a positive mindset, being self-critical and able to analyse a lot.
    In Overwatch your videos helped me to get from a little bit under diamond to grandmaster with ease. In live the new mindset change helped me even more. I even became a teacher figure to a friend of mine and was able to share some of the experiences. I now do coach a team and a few individual players as well.
    It seems that you are underestimating your videos and the impact they can make (and did have on me). Your channel was - and hopefully is going to be again - the best overwatch guide channel on yt because you are the one who understands that improvement has not a lot to do with current skill or talent or whatever, but just the mindset you show for improving. The awareness of what you do good and what you do bad, the real strive to improve on them and also really importantly to always have set goals overall and just for the session of improvement.
    You are doing really important work for the Community with this.
    What I would like to see on your Channel: I personally do love Overwatch. I see the immense potential it has, I know how much fun it really can make but I also feel like we are moving further and further away from that. I play less and less because of the recent metas and the inability of the community to play them. I liked to solo-que back in season 3-11 I felt like the game was way more forgiving when the enemy team out-team-comped you, but now I feel like the amount of anyhow winnable games without being the huge motivator for the team went down to maybe 40% (I count 30% not losable games and 30% unwinnable games). I just don’t know how to either be the huge motivator myself or to find fun in this. Are pugs the answer to it? Where do I find those how do I get connected as someone completely unproven (I was looking a few times for teams but didn’t really got any try outs). It became super hard to find people with the same current standpoint to ranked to play with. So, the question I would like to have answered the most by you would be how to enjoy a game I love with/despite the general Overwatch community.
    Also, your dog needs more screen time in talk videos. Not in the way that you should centre your content around it (like you tried with “walk my dog” which felt like a weird one-way podcast thingy) but I want to have him in the background like a nice piece of furniture. He makes me happy.
    Lastly why didn’t you write about your pause on twitter or made a video about it? I hate it when the content basically just stops without an ending or a hint. Wish you would have done that better.
    But overall I am just glad that you returned and I look forward to future videos. Time to get back to improving.
    Sincerely Cubic

    Your content has always been great, and I look forward to seeing what you make in the future. Welcome back.
    I'm surprised that someone in the industry told you that bit about never disagreeing with developers if you want a job in the industry. Maybe esports is different, but I'd find that attitude among developers really alarming and I'd avoid working at such a place. That attitude is a one way ticket to turning your studio into an echo chamber where no one feels comfortable disagreeing with anyone else. That said, I understand wanting to play it safe when you're outside trying to find your way in.

I assumed you'd just got burnt out with youtube or something but you actually just completed the esports game just to get an extra 9-10% sureness on your opinions. I'd honestly be happy with any kind of gaming content your overwatch videos kept me playing and enjoying that game way longer than I think I would have

    Cool to see you making videos again skyline. It was pretty funny meeting you in Houston for that espn event (I was in the overwatch finals). I think your content is pretty cool and I love seeing your different perspective compared to mine so I hope you keep sharing it.

    I no longer play OW but i Love your breakdowns of strats for gaming in general, all from a pick strat in OW to a bild order for 1 sc2 race in 1 matchup in 1 map. Looking forward to it!

    Pretty excited to see you back!
    My whole circle quite Overwatch some time ago due to the unbalanced and unfun nature of team balancing, but really digging Apex for the moment, a candle will always burn for Overwatch though, I just don't know if I'm ready to go back 😂
    Glad to hear you've been kicking butt & staying positive :D

    Oh my goodness, Skyline is back. Can't wait to see what kind of content that you bring now that you are back. Somehow, of all the Discord servers that I've deleted over the years, Skyline Discord was not one of them.
