Sometimes I use a large cross lock $$$ swivel up top … then use a 3 foot section of 150/200# mono with a solid ring and a 300#+- split ring on the bottom attached to my jig …
Sometime I just crimp on a $$ Swivel onto my wind on leader (100-130-150-200#) and just attach that cross lock swivel onto the split ring with assist hook attached to my jig…
I’m beginning to like using a 5/0 3x-4x treble on the bottom of my 400#-500# jigs …
I use either an Owner that he’s using or a Mustad Lock Jaw treble …
I’ve been using the same Owner treble hooks but only a 2/0-3/0-4/0’s on my smaller jigs
Your hook ration goes up I believe … and if you stitch their mouths shut they can’t get as much oxygen.

After you hook a fish and land it do you cut it all off and re tie?

rarely.. sometimes there are nicks and you may cut off some line. there have been times when I had to rerig the whole deal. tangles ..crazy fish etc..
