At first, I was very critical about the Kyra. But then, I found a (brand new) second hand Kyra for a ridiculous price so I decided to give it a try. After one year of ownership I need to say I was completely wrong about this synth. Simply said: It's a true beast synth and it sounds incredibly good. Only few hardware synths come near. Even analog ones. That is because it has 128 voices so you can layer 2,3 or 4 patches and more, to have a incredible fat sound!!! Ad 8x stereo audio stereo streams over USB, directly in your DAW and enough said... Biggest flaws are the missing data wheel and a reverb that doesn't meet the synths' sound quality. I own many synths, but for the above reasons, the Kyra is in my top 3. Personally, to me it's a keeper.
I agree with the reactions below that you can get the same results with VST's sonicaly. But creatively with Kyra you have a knob per feature interface and getting rid of a computer with only your headphones on and a master keyboard attached can get you through some nice sounddesign journeys making your own patches on this thing. And that count's for something too instead of having Massive, Serum or Synthmaster with 10.000 downloadable presets.
The Virus is a different sound than the Kyra. Although opinions are divided about the Waldorf, personally I think you get more complex sounds from this synth than the Access.
There are 1024 factory presets + 384 "best of" presets (I think so, because I deleted them. It seemed absurd to me to have duplicate presets), the rest are init presets. The problem is that, except for the two Waldorf ones, there are no sound banks for this synth and there are too many slots to fill with your own presets.
I am super sensitive to digital synths sounding thin and cheesy. I don't hear that here. This feels like a unique voice to me. Not analog at all, but beautiful, none the less.
Any design could have been better than this ,it looks like a VST player or medical equipment. Access Virus has both the look and sound....regarding model (where the "B" keyboardmodel is a real beauty)!

Brilliant sounding synth.
Oh, the ides of march preset is exactly my cup of tea.
Hi there. It does respond to Program Change MIDI commands in order to change preset from another device? Thanks.
I really think this synth creates some beautiful sounds. May have to prostitute myself to get it though haha.
I had the Iridium but had to return it due to lotsa bugs. If I may ask, does the Kyra has bugs?
jeeze, a $2500 synth is too buggy to own? glad i read this!
Hey Marc, great video! How do you compare the kyra to the virus? I think the virus sounds fuller

Thanks!! I might just get one :)
Does the Kyra have a random sound generator?
How many factory presets does it come with. I know you can store like 3300, but how many of those are desiged presets vs init presets.

I want it :)
More a synth for making soft music like new age.
Mooie sounds, maar je moet keuzes maken,en heb de kurzweil PC4 gekocht.

I think it may be due to the high bit rate audio.

The original designer had it looking like a Virus TI3. Once Waldorf picked it up they redesigned the look of it.
This Kyra sounds horribly plastic, and pundits had the nerve to say Kyra is a Virus disinfectant.
2300 USD for something that sounds so lifeless and harsh. There are VST plugins that sound a million time better. Patches all sound so similar.
YOU DONT HAVE ONE NOR HAVE YOU EVER TOUCHED ONE
Trippin balls bruh
It's not worth the cash!
i'm not a fan of the sounds.
