I had the same Thoughts when someone modded the Monster Dalamadur into the great Desert in Monster Hunter 4.
@@MichaelJohnson-ld4jq alot of things teleported like kratos and BOY but the covered alot of it up with water wiping the screen
I love that they simulated this without any distance tricks. They made it as real as they could.
They have to; considering everything in this game happens in real-time.
they do a lot of distance tricks in god of war ragnarok because in asgard if you try to throw any of your weapons at jormungandr when hes fighting thor he seems so far away even though hes not that far
The sound mixing done for the voice of Jörmungandr is phenomenal. I got such chills the first time I saw it.
Even if Jormugandr's size might not encircle the earth, this content shows his size still ain't a joke.
The realm you are in is Midgard, Jormungandr AKA the world serepent or the midgard serpent is so long than he wrapped around midgard and bit his own tail

Tbf he wraps around midguard, and in this universe it seems like mid guard only includes scandinavia rather than the whole world

Man, the main game didn’t even properly represent how MASSIVE this snake is. Jormungandr may actually be the largest creature we’ve seen in GOW, and that’s saying something.
That's pretty generous considering we dealt with Atlas.
@@ScyleOrnitier If you look at a scene with Kratos on Atlas’s hand vs Kratos by Thamur’s hand, Thamur isn’t that far off, and Jormungandr dwarfed Thamur, at least with it’s length.
May? The world serpant is exactly what it sounds like, its length encompasses the earth so its arguably the biggest mythical creature in all mythology, there are some beings such as primordial gods that could be bigger but as far as mythical monsters/titans goes non are as big as the world serpant

Jormungandr is said to encircle midgard, assuming the gow midgard is the same as the real world mythology, that would make him over 24,000 miles long
Wow.. it's actually physically large. As are the mountains. I always assumed it was just images that put in the background.
Not that huge once you see the lake up in the mountains, he's called "world serpent" which supposedly encircles all midgard but he's only big enough to sorround the lake of nine.

Seeing him from this angle makes me realize how cramped that tiny lake must be for him

I wish you did a take where you're far enough from the actual cutscene to see the out of bounds tricks they did, but at the same time you can still see Kratos and Atreus on the boat as the water levels were going down. Would be pretty interesting to see what else the devs did to make this scene work.
it amaze me how simple and dump the mechanics behind a scene and how it's actually hard to make them gaming has a long way to go as long as we are limited to hardware
The scenes in this video is by no means "simple" or "dump" (whatever this may mean). Quite disrespectful to the team at the studio. It's actually pretty impressive what the development team have done to make this work with such a large object, it was probably very difficult to design the cutscenes around the enormous snake that is the world serpent that it almost feels lile a art.. it'll never be easy and that's the beauty of it.

@@teriyakiwaffle I think what he's trying to say is that no matter how a person may think that a scene in a game looks simple and dumb, it's actually difficult to simulate it because of hardware limitations. He's praising them, in a roundabout way. Basically what you said. Probably.
Now I want to see how the scene where mimir first spoke to the serpent played out from a bird's eye view

Kratos blew the horn, he didn't use the horn that calls Jormungandr, he used the one that Heimdall has.
The reason why GoW 2018 Kratos could hear it is because Heimdall's horn transcends space and time.
Blowing the horn of Heimdall indicates that Ragnarok has started.

A bit of a shame we still don't know who blowed the horn in GOW 2018 when Kratos was retrieving the Blades of Chaos. I was hoping GOW Ragnarok would atleast give hints who it was since it isn't a past Loki anymore and some theories were going for.
And yet we still do not know who did it as Ragnarok gives us no hinting clues to that moment. I hope the story writers didn't just forget that moment.

@@rainbowcloudss_ no point of them calling the serpent, none of them knows the language of the snake besides ymir and atreaus so baldur sure ain't who it was, and it doesn't make sense that thor will call the serpent despite the fact the serpent hates thor and would've probably fought him
@@rainbowcloudss_ and I think they confirmed its not future loki nor freya or angrboda, the most sense theory I've seen is that it's probably kratos using heimdall's horn to start the ragnarok and it was heard in all realms and time

Crazy how you can see his body move in the mountains when in game you can't even see that far, only the World Serpent coming out the water although is doesn't surprise me because Cronos in GoW 3 had full on animated everything and even the Pits of Tartarus were rendered beyond what the in game camera can pick up.

the first midgard is the best environment out of both of these games, hands down.. The cleverness of it, using water levels based on the snakes movements, LOL then trying to travel around a dead giant, blowing up his beard jewels, then smashing shyt up to ride a giants hammer to smash ice thats suppose to be indestructible, i swear man, 2018 was so clever man with its mechanics, it feels like they just kind of ditched all of that with Rag, left me highly disappointed, I still like it, but it lost a point for that..
I'll be honest after replaying 2018, its just so good man, i can see why Ragnorok didnt get game of the year this time... Theres just so much taken out, even the combat has been taken down a notch, I'd say about 30% of the mechanics from 2018 has been removed.. Even the punchiness and the strength you feel has been toned down.. I'll be honest you feel kinda weak in Rag, i thought it was gonna be like a plot point but it wasnt, like fimblewinter was weakening everyones power.. But yeah.. nothing.. Iono, i think cory barlog made a better game..
I'm assuming you can only do this on pc if that's the case as soon as god of war ragnarok comes to pc you have got to do this in asgard when thor fights Jorm and surtur

if you go the the bottom part of the bridge run around it all the way to the back at the part where you need to go boat into the world serpents mouth instead of doing that go to the under side of the bidge run around it and as you go the snakes body starts loosing more and more detail and you can thorw stuff threw it lol

The thing is that they needed Mimir to talk with the serpent in the first place, as he was the last person to know it.
