    Great video Andrew! Beating up another Dodge 170....love it! The 170 owner was feeling so down and out about his car getting spanked by a family sedan that he didn't even really want to talk about it! LoL

    “There must be something wrong with that Demon170” or “That 170 driver doesn’t know what he’s doing!” Right? Wrong. Although this is the first Demon170 that would race our Plaid, it’s the third 170 we’ve encountered at the dragstrip. Remember the one a month ago that ran 9.6-9.8s? That was with a very experienced driver and many dozens of runs. He declined to race because the result was already obvious. Most Dodge boys believe they can drive it better. Dream on. Even after 50 practice passes, there’s no way that car will take the Plaid in a best 2 out of 3 completed within 30 minutes. The Plaid can run back-to-back and often runs faster each time. The Demon170 requires a long cool down and perfect conditions that just aren’t happening most of the time. A tough pill for Mopar fans, but facts.

      @@speedracerjeff Yet the manufacturer claim for the Plaid was 9.23. We ran 9.26 at full weight in our first few weeks with our Plaid in imperfect conditions. And although some may try to tout the Demon’s shortcomings as some kind of “Challenge for REAL drivers”, how does that make it a better car? If only 1% of Demon owners can ever match the claim, versus more like 50% for the Plaid, then the car appears to be the issue, not the driver. We prefer performance that is accessible, not only on a perfectly prepped track, but anywhere the car can go 👍

      Note: We’ve never seen ANY Demon run 9.2s at our local dragstrips. Not a 170 nor a modified and tuned original Demon. To date, 9.40s is the best we’ve ever seen (Ghost Rider’s Forza-tuned Demon in great conditions).
      Meantime, we often run six 9.2s in a row in a single night without “refueling”😃

      The latest solid state&semi solid state cell news has me excited in a few years or sooner? We could see ev pack's losing 250-500#+ and then what a nutter the plaid would be with a solid state 600# total pack in it. Shedding 400# with even better thermals and charging speeds.
      Imagine a m3 ludicrous with a 500-600# 75-80kwh solid state pack taking it down to 3,600# or less. With awd, track pack, sticky tires, nice sport bucket seats and 620+hp. All for around 60k. Might run high 9s or low 10s. And a lighter plaid+with solid state should do 8.8x😃

    If you're drag racing the newer high horsepower cars, they all need to have a 15" wheel conversion. They simply need more sidewall and more tire on the ground and the Demon 170 proves this. Taller tires and the proper gearing and it will leave much harder.

    I used to drag race a motorcycle and have followed drag racing most of my life. I learned that sound can fool you into thinking that just because it’s louder it tends to make you think it’s faster. Of course EV’s proved this is not the case. I remember riding a 500cc Kawasaki two stroke and it would blow the handlebars off a Harley with straight pipes.

Not sure why a modified car like his 170 would duck and dodge a 100% stock car like Greg’s? (2017 COPO Camaro) And not sure why he hides his ETs? The one Plaid we saw him race (2 years ago) was a sad setup. As we’ve posted elsewhere, he can come to Bradenton and race Greg anytime. When Dodge ran that 8.91, who knows how many passes it took to achieve. It was in negative DA, and the track prep was stellar. That car was also the lightest version possible. There is a lot to learn on that car, and it's hard to be consistent due to traction variables. The Plaid is hands down the way to go if you want to take names on the street or the track. With the AWD, it's basically unbeatable 99% of the time. If your only goal is to go fast in a straight line, then the Plaid is the clear answer period. The Demon is a different animal that has a lot of character and is very hard to manage. In a perfect world, I would own both to serve different purposes. There is no point in making excuses or defending one car over the other. Buy what you like and enjoy the journey.

    With all due respect, the only real time concerns in the plaid is it's soc and the launch sequence, that said, the launches for ice reality has to be realized each and every launch, and way to much preparation and investment to run sub standard times in a car producing over 1000 hp's

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  7 місяців тому +1

      Two other factors we’ve found:
      1) For ET, “finding traction”. We used to just line up like everyone else, and would spin a fair amount of the time. Now we take extra efforts to be first down after the prep, we “roll thru” for more glue on tires, and we lineup outside “the groove”. We spin far less often, improving 60-fts and ET.
      2) RTs aren’t just about the number. Consistency comes by staging at the same depth every time. And because we stage super “shallow”, we get a “flying head start” by the time we break the starting beams. This has proven to be good for about a *full tenth* on ET versus deep staging.

      Although I haven’t seen that particular video, I believe I may know the Channel involved. (DT?) If so, then yes, that was entirely self-inflicted. What’s the absolute worst abuse I ever seen or heard of? That guy that bought a Plaid, and charged it to 100%, let it sit there for awhile in Florida Summer heat, then the next day he locked it in an *enclosed* trailer and towed it across the state while still at 100% during blistering July temperatures. How is the battery management system going to work? Surprise! It’s slower now. What a shock. DT totally abused his Plaid battery, but doesn’t seem to make the connection to his own abuse.

The white Plaid has custom wheels, 21” tires, and has a lowered suspension, plus a custom “wrap” over the paint. Ours is all original, although we removed the rear seats (170 points of weight) to make ours about 0.1 seconds faster. We’ve also removed the aerodynamic hubcaps from our stock 19” wheels. Fun races! I have seen so many unhappy people at the drag strip because "their cars" cannot get close to the best recorded times. But there are so many variables at the drag strip, and for a gas powered car, the biggest one is driver experience. The Demon 170 driver was getting relatively terrible 60' times, and he is never going to get the best numbers with those problematic launches. The Plaid's "superpowers" are consistent launches, AWD, and EV power delivery. Track prep and reaction time are still critical for getting the best, competitive times in a Tesla. But there are so many more variables affecting gas powered performance cars to get their best times, that it is usually the Tesla driver's race to lose.

    You will 98% chance get spanked
    It don’t have human error

      Can’t, because he blew his engine up. We’ve since run 9.15 and he blew his engine up with nitrous. Did we mention he blew his engine? That idiot. Also, he is a proven liar and will lie regardless of the outcome, same as he did before. We only race drivers of good character so there’s no way we will ever get near such a lowlife again in the future. But besides, he blew his engine up 😃

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel

      …we’ve raced *many faster* cars that that one anyway, and we’ve hit many 0.00 and 0.01 reaction times along the way (several this year). We’ve continued to treat all drivers with respect. So it should be obvious why we won’t give such a classless liar another chance to play games with us and lie about the whole thing…

    I just can't get behind the EV racing. There is not much anyone can do to make their EV stand out besides chopping off parts to lighten it. They are quick but limited and that's ruins the excitement of a team building their car and watching it perform better than everyone else's.

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  Місяць тому

      That has changed. My buddy has modified his Plaid's electronics to run 8.39. Although his approach is not nearly mainstream yet, aftermarket companies could productize this. (We got a call from Holley awhile back about making new EV-specific performance products.). Just give it a bit of time, same as in the '80s when everyone avoided the ECU controlled cars until aftermarket PROMS came along a few years later. Now almost everyone at the track can be seen modifying their parameters...

      Another noob who believes it is “100% Stock”? Pay attention. My buddy Greg Mannarino called him out months ago to race his 100% Stock Camaro. Yet he won’t even respond. Why not?
      Once that race occurs, if any level of class is shown, we’ll consider it. But those kinds of personalities don’t play well on this Channel, where we treat all drivers with mutual respect 😃

      Our buddy Greg called him out first, and we are waiting for that result out of respect. (Consider trying that sometime?)
      Funny that he won’t even respond, despite all his Demon’s modifications while Greg’s Camaro is *100% stock* from the factory. (His COPO ran 8.30s here on the Channel, which shuts up the Dodge crowd in a hurry 🤣🤣🤣)

    Reaction time has nothing to due with et. Its when the front tire hits the beam the timers start. 2 cars that run 9.3, if one driver leaves slightly earlier it does not mean he has the quicker time. Both lanes are timed separate. If i sit for 1 second after the green it does not mean I run a 10.30. The white plaid will not reduce et if he has a better reaction time. If he has perfect reaction time he will still run 9.3, not like taking his seats out.

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  7 місяців тому +1

      👍We race for the finish line, not for the ET. Thats why we talk about RTs so much. When we frequently say we are “looking for close races”, we aren’t trying to “match ETs” on the board, although we’ve done that many times. We give cars “the hit/move” for that exact reason that you explain to the noobs. A slower car needs a better RT for the finish to be close. We backed off on our usual RT (did you notice our three recent 0.00 RTs in the last month or so?) We did this very intentionally because we knew Jim’s ET would be higher. We were right on the money, and *won by 0.02* at the finish line even though we had that slower RT (by 0.05). Our ET was 0.07 better, and we very clearly said we *won by 0.02* , not by 0.07 😃

      He’s not stock. And Greg Mannarino (100% stock Camaro, a 350ci COPO) has already called him out. Loudly and many places. If he can beat Greg, and do it with any level of class, then sure why not?

    You should talk to Kevin van voris or Herman about it. They seem to know what they are doing. Oh wait you won't. Because that would ruin your streak of the 170 being slow. Keep picking on the guys with lots of money and 0 skill.

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  7 місяців тому +2

      Why should a car specifically designed for one purpose (drag racing) be so difficult to drag race? 🤔 You will never acknowledge that as a problem, as that would ruin your streak of not seeing the car for what it really is: An over-hyped engineering failure 👍

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  7 місяців тому +2

      More questions you won’t answer:
      -Why does the original Demon run 10s most of the time in real life? (Stock) Our dragstrip livestreamer has witnessed hundreds of Demon passes by dozens of drivers and says: “Never once saw a stock Demon run 9.6s. Not even once”
      -Why hasn’t Dodge adopted AWD? The Germans figured it out a long time ago. There’s the GT-R and Lambos too. Even the latest Vette has AWD! RWD is so archaic that it’s almost comical watching guys try to launch their various Challengers.
      -Why do fanboys STILL believe Dodge’s claims and continue to make excuses for them after all the empirical evidence? Maybe because “It’s easier to fool people than to convince them that they’ve been fooled” 🤔

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  7 місяців тому +2

      BTW, we looked up those guys and it’s a hard pass. When we were young and stupid, we street raced. We matured. We developed respect for the other people in this world around us. And yet the titles of the their videos speak volumes about their mindset: “…piss off…”, “…embarrassed…”
      Hard pass. We’d rather have no views than go that direction. Our Channel probably offends folks like that, because we’re just a bunch of honest law-abiding gearheads showing respect for all drivers, while leaving our egos at the dragstrip gate.
