This is super helpful! I've wanted to get started with traveler's notebooks forever. I have a pocket sized Mr. Darcy deluxe coming. I do know that I want both a personal and pocket size to start with. The pocket was on sale in a group and the deal was too good to pass up. I was slightly unclear on the size differences but I think I'll enjoy it.

BUT, most of the things in her shop I can find other places. Chic Sparrow is one of a kind so sadly you wouldn't be able to find them anywhere else, unless someone in Canada is selling a used one. Have you considered reaching out to any Canadian folks on the Sparrow Facebook page and coming together for the shipping. I don't know high the shipping is, but maybe that could be an option if it was fairly inexpensive to ship WITHIN Canada. Thanks so much for watchin'!!! xoxo

Thank you for starting my thought process. I recently got a nano and some leather swatches to test things out. I'm tempted to see if I can get something from the second chance sale to give it a try (and to cut down on the number of decisions I need to make). I'm way too indecisive. :) As it is right now, I want to get all the nanos I can, they are just too cute!

Just found this particular video and I'm so glad you did this for folks. It can be difficult to make decisions on size. I have several Chic Sparrows (6 I think) and have been wrestling with deciding what size I want now ... Personal?? Narrow?? Difficult to make a decision. Yeahhhh ... decided just to keep life simple and have at least one of every size! I love the Narrow (Midori regular size) and love the Personal, but ... love the Pocket. Shoot, just love them all.

It's a Storyteller leather and it's retired. Sometimes I'll see limited runs on the website with some different colors. You'd just have to keep your eyes peeled on the site. Thank you for including that verse. I'm so humbled and honored by it!
I really really want the Maverick Deluxe in Golden Brown. The Deluxe because I love the stitching and the pockets. And I think I will get the Personal size because I don't have a personal size yet. The picture of it on the Chis Sparrow web site shows a lot of variation in the golden brown color and I love it. And I love all the pebbling.

I am in love with what you do and your sharing. ..thank you! But because I am still in the exploring faze of this new journey, I wanted to ask what would you recommend for a a beginner? I don't want to invest $60 plus for just starting out. So I am looking on Amazon for travelers notebooks that are refillable. Michael's actually has a new Recollections traveler's journal collection, you could start there, and with all the sales and coupons they have, it won't be a huge investment. I love my Pilot Dr. Grip pen for everyday writing, it comes in several shades, and you have to have a nice pen to keep you going. But I must warn you, you will soon be hooked, hooked, hooked! Hope you're making progress.

Great video. Would you be able to give measurements? I see on their website it gives notebook that fits in sizes, it it doesn't say how thick you can fill. I like to pile my notebooks thick but don't want it to show edges. This way I could just cut paper to fold it to give me an idea of which fits in what purse.

Boo. :( Anyhoo, The approximate (tried to measure as CLOSELY as I could) measurements of the sizes FLAT are: Pocket: 8 3/4 " x 6 " , Personal: 9 3x4" x 7" , Narrow: 11" x 8 1/2 and Wide: 12" x 8 5x8" . Keep in mind that there is the thickness of the leather and if you choose to get deluxe, that will also at to the thickness and will take away from potentially having another insert added. I really love the yellow paper house inserts and want to use these. lost on the size I would need. oh so very confused. pretty sure I'm going to go chic sparrow. her shop is sold out of everything. or I'm just not driving the site well enough! could you please talk about sizes and types of inserts used. gosh I'm needing help here in New Zealand. love watching your channel.

Ali, I'm moving into a Pan Am Midori standard for my 2016 Bujo. But being unable to live without Chic Sparrow TNs, I have set up my leaf green American Dream classic pocket size as a spirituality notebook. I'm a Creme Brule and Gemini girl so veeeerrrrry reluctant to move into it. But guess what? I love it. Chic Sparrow is perfection in whichever incarnation it appears. LOVE IT! My opinion, which is worth exactly what you paid for it, is that every size is perfect. I've not found a single size that I couldn't use and love. Really, deciding on only one size would be impossible for me. I do love the pocket size a smidge more than the other sizes, mainly because I love the portability.

What would you say is the best size for overall use? I'm a young guy needing some organisation in my life and looking into this along with a combination or other stuff to help keep myself in line.
If you don't mind a bigger notebook, I'm a huge narrow/standard fan! If I HAD to scale down to just one notebook, I would go for the narrow, all the way. If you don't like the taller feel, then perhaps an a6 size or personal size would be good. Especially if you're using it mainly for planning and wanting to have something easy to carry around. Not sure if that was helpful at all. I have used my narrow for planning...it was a little bit cumbersome to carry around, but because I love journaling in that size so much, I'd do it again if I had to. :)

This is the first of your videos that I've watched, and I will be honest and say that at first, I was thinking, "Ali, get to the point already!" (Though I'm not sure I know you well enough yet to be calling you by your first name--ahhh!) :) Anyway, by the time I finished watching the video, you had won me over--it's sort of like sitting and talking with a girlfriend, which is also chatty and storytelling and maybe a little gossip, and oh-by-the-way-here's-the-point but didn't we have fun getting here? I have made a couple narrow journals myself and I fricken love them! I've been making my own inserts too and I think I found a decent cheaper copy paper that works for me. Have you tested out any other copy paper? I know you were on the hunt for some! Ps you need more journal with me videos!!

I have held it in my hands for a long while and had opportunity to borrow my friends and didn't like it. It wasn't big enough to hold what I wanted without overhang. Just preference. :)
I've had my creme brulee for over a month now and it has one insert in it and a card holder as well and I have not touched my Creme Brulee because I'm scared to scratch its beautifulness and softness leather feel.

ive been struggling with decision to get stitched or riveted penloop. any suggestions
+The Planner Page I only have one notebook that has a riveted pen loop. It serves it's function just the same as the stitched. It just looks a little more rustic. My other pen loops are stitched because those notebooks are deluxes. Not sure if that helped but that's my thought on it. Thanks so much for watchin'! :)

gtiger766 I don't own a B6 but have the B6slim and I am really enjoying that size. So much that I left my A6 for planning and narrow for journaling and moved all into one book for planning and journaling in the B6slim.

I print out my own calendars and then for my journaling, I just hacked off an inch and a quarter of a standard Midori 003 insert.

Goo Gone cleaning fluid mixed with a drop of rubbing alcohol will remove most of the ink stain
That stuff is INTENSE! I'm not sure I trust it on my gorgeous patina leather. I'm ok with the ink stain now. Thank you for watching! :)

Nah- I figured it out. It's tip-ins (still not sure how you spell it) what are papers that you tape into your notebook. That can be a pic, or insert add-on...etc. I've watched enough videos on TN's that I've now figured it out! :)
