    I did a few of these on my lunch break today and you're right. They do satisfy without eating into time. I even combined a few (flowers in circles) and added a further pen colour into the equation (white posco for added highlights). Cheers for the hints and tips.

      I enjoyed this video a lot! I’ve been in an art slump for several months and I think what’s holding me back now,is that it’s been so long, I think I fear I’ve lost all my previous hard won skills in learning how to draw. I’m afraid I’ll have to start at square one! 😢 I’m self “guided” with the help of books and some lovely UA-cam artists. (I don’t think it’s right to say I’m self taught when you wonderful people have taught me so much!). Anyway I never considered myself to be experienced, but I’ve been drawing for about 2 years now, so I knew SOME things! lol😂 So maybe not a beginner but not where I could comfortably say that I’m at an intermediate level either. I think what it boils down to is fear of failure. BUT your video really encouraged me and taught me that I can create without it needing to be complicated. ❤ I loved how your quick little art projects turned out. So pretty! So thank you so much for this video! ❤❤ I really needed to see this. And sorry this has gotten quite long! I just wanted to express my gratitude and the reason for it, but also because I wanted you to know you really do reach your viewers and impact lives. What you do is amazing. ❤❤ Oh! and you have gained a new subscriber. 😊

    It's called neurographica it's actually an art therapy style. What it is is the lines are supposed to be completely random or you're supposed to scribble something on the paper very quickly and then you round all the sharp edges making the sharp thoughts more smooth then you're supposed to add field lines or grounding lines which help ground you and let you analyze deep thoughts even better. I took a beginner's course in neurographica at the neurographica academy online it's really great in fact one of the things that I wanted to do was learn to organize better and honestly after I took that course a year ago I can't stop trying to get 40 years of my life without organization actually organized. It's also help me with a lot of my PTSD and my ADHD and anytime I feel upset or stressed out I can grab a piece of paper and do the work.

    • @bycreativepaula
      @bycreativepaula  8 місяців тому +24

      I love that, thank you for sharing! So I’m guessing the circles I see put in a lot of videos are the grounding lines… I know it makes me feel better! That’s a course I would like to take!

      @Waspinmymind 8 місяців тому +7

      Neurographica sounds like pseudo science. Be careful with that stuff especially online classes. Be skeptical. Please.

    • @death057
      @death057 8 місяців тому +30

      @@Waspinmymind well it is not pseudoscience it is psychology and it is art therapy. I took a class after doing many of their online free things since I love art therapy for my complex PTSD. If you looked it up you'd have more information instead of just assuming because of the name. I took the one class and it helped a lot. The thing is is that it is a therapy session kind of like you'd go to a therapist and talk to them well with this you use a drawing technique in order to calm the mind which are therapy is a real thing that's been used for many many many many years. So don't assume without doing the research yourself. I take it you are not somebody who has to do any kind of therapy or doesn't believe in art therapy but I'm just assuming let me tell you something having neurographica in my tool box of things that I can use to help me through panic attacks through flashbacks and through times of immense stress has helped me 10-fold and I've had it for a year. I've had more progress this year and I've actually knocked my panic attacks down to I've had one in the past 6 months and with that one when I felt it coming on I immediately went to drawing and rounding corners and I didn't have to take anxiety medication which I used to have to take three a day I'm down to as needed and my panic attack was over quicker than any I've ever had before. You know why? Basically I focused on something else I made sure to take the sharp panic that I was feeling and rounded it out. But I wouldn't know how to do that the right way without having the guidance I would have just done neurographic art with it which is kind of different because when doing neurographic art without the therapy part You're just doing art for art sake trying to make a pretty picture when you understand the steps in doing a neurographica session then you're doing it for therapy whether it's for high stress or for putting intention to something it actually does work and help a lot. I took my class January 2023 since then I have been through some very stressful situations that before had left me in a constant state of panic for days at a time now after being able to add that to my toolbox which led me to do acrylic paint pouring and both of those together has helped me in the past year to have something to do to ease my mind which in turn like I said left me without having to take my anxiety medication that I've taken since 2007 I quit biting my nails randomly in one year didn't even notice I've been biting them since I've had teeth I'm in my forties. I have made many positive changes over this past year and it all started with taking that class. And no I'm not affiliated with them and yes there are a lot of people out there who think they're know what they're talking about when it comes to it but if you don't take the class you wouldn't know but you need to make sure you are going to the right people to do it. It is based on science done by a psychiatrist/psychologist and artist from Moscow and please with everything going on in today's world don't hold the fact that it started in Moscow against them. If I'm not mistaken I did mention the actual US-based academy The reason I did that is yes there are people out there who will try and make money off of this who don't know what the heck they're talking about just like everything else. That's why it's important to do your own research. I'm only one person I'm not affiliated with them in any way I can just tell you from my own experience that when done with the right instructor so that you can learn the right techniques it can absolutely help in many different aspects but so can art therapy of all kinds You just have to be open to it. I would suggest checking out more about the origins of neurographica. Checking out the academy they have here You could even do one of their free classes on their UA-cam channel I don't know if that's something you would be interested in but if not then don't come at me if you haven't done your own research. Is art therapy pseudoscience too? Have you done research in this? Have you done anything more than just read my comment and then blurt your opinion out because you know so much about it? Like I said before assuming do the research but what I told you about my experience is true the reason I commented is most likely the person who's showing this was showing it as an art technique even though she is showing it as a technique to help creativity and relax I thought it would be important to show the right way to do it so that people can have the most benefits.

      When I was about 12 years old I spent weeks making a scrap book. A true scrap book where I cut and paste pretty pictures out of magazines, comic strips from the Sunday newspaper and I made my own art pages, puzzle games etc.. I was so very proud of it. I left it on the table next to the telephone and my Dear Mom jotted down a phone number she wanted to remember on the front page. I was so very upset I cried. Feeling terrible about the mistake she quickly made the phone number into a doodle. I loved it and keep the book for years. I cherished that book for over 50 years now as it taught me an invaluable lesson...."all mistakes are opportunities to grow" I also cherished it because the book was now our book. She passed away but I have a small piece of her creativity.

    Everyone has that “start over” feeling: whether it’s re-doing the bathroom, writing an essay for class, painting, drawing, it’s called “the muck in the middle”. Usually about the pre-to-halfway mark. It’s universal.
    The “starting a new project” excitement begins to wane and we ask: what have I gotten myself into? But “you’re just as far in as you’ll ever be out” may as well continue on, bc if you start over, you’ll end up in the same place.

      Actually now that I’ve done one with blobs I’m thinking some beautiful art can come out of those and that I could play in different ways! But sometimes it’s hard to put that distance between me and the project to reflect when I’m in the middle of it 🙈 I’m glad I pressed on and that you liked them 🥰

    I love the stains! Outlining them is what I would do, the natural look makes a perfect compliment to deliberate lines. Organic rot, damage and stains are what makes my best work the best, they're like an art gift from nature, to me at least. Of course it depends on what you do.

I tried to do some every day at one point but as I'm a naturally happy person, it doesn't work when I have nothing bad in my head. That rainbow had me totally hooked!! 🌈 I love it!! 🥰 The big flower is really awesome as well!! 🌺 Every single one of these would make gorgeous wall art!! ❤️ Thank you for making simple ideas for sketchbooks!! 🤗 Total novice here! 😅 What will you do with the alcohol ink background? It is kind of cool in negative, but I know you could paint white or black over it to add something different to that side. I responded to your Create this Book poll. I kind of know how much time and effort you and pressure you put into each page. Please don't overwhelm yourself to make one of those each week. Your sketchbook and other art items are incredible and worthy of being out here. 👍 Please make what makes you happy and not stressed. If you are having fun, we will enjoy it!! 😄 Algorithms are stupid... Remember, any negative comments are still engagement and more of a reflection of the people posting the comment than any worthy criticism of your art. Big hugs!! 🫂 You've got this! 👏👏

    I really enjoyed this. The 1st rainbow one reminded me of reverse coloring which I've only dabbled a bit in Spark before it was shut down, but lately have been wanting to try more. The reverse/negative heart painting really surprised me as I don't think I've seen it done before but I totally love the concept.💛Also I think a lot of us can relate to the 5th sketchbook idea, I know I can. It was very satisfying to watch it be drawn out and hear the idea behind it.😊
    This video got me remembering how I would just mindlessly draw/color as a kid which was so fun. What I remember doing a lot was either all these crossing lines I'd draw out then fill in each empty space with a different color pencil trying to not have the same color touching or making mazes (was/am totally obsessed with Labyrinth). I would try doing I guess 2d aerial versions of what I would imagine was really 3d in my head.

    • @bycreativepaula
      @bycreativepaula  8 місяців тому

      I loved the ideas you used as a kid! Just reading your description got my creative juices flowing! You know as an adult I have lately been enjoying both regular and reverse coloring SO much! Traditional coloring makes me deeply happy and makes me feel fulfilled while reverse coloring does wonders to relieve anxiety and change my mood if I’m not calm.
      I had no idea they ended up shutting down spark! That’s a bummer! I loved the idea!
      In any case know you can always make your own reverse coloring pages and it’s really nice! ❤️

      I know what you mean, that's what's really cool about watching all this art content...it helps create inspiration.
      Yep, though I feel like I will have to zone out so I don't force a specific image lol. Makes me think of doing like a watercolor abstract exchange where two people each make an abstract watercolor then swap & reverse color what they got. Actually I really liked doing that in Spark; I would try to do the reverse coloring prompt blind but after I finished I really liked seeing what other people made out of the same starting point.😀

      @@frankie1717 you know what; if you dilute the watercolor enough, even if you paint something with intent it will dry into different shapes…
      I did a page full of hearts once, and it changes so much when dried; perfect for reverse coloring!

      Thanks for the tip😊OH, will that be an example in the next sketchbook ideas video? It would be cool to see an example like the hearts you mentioned.

    Great ways to create. I love the way you mix abstract watercolor with ink to create lovely flowers and patterns.
