    Ive got a good fleet of bikes and actually consider my status 140 my big bike/enduro rig. Cool to see footage of it handling whistler just fine. Taking mine to a bike park today too.

    Coming from bmx to mtb and seeing you describe this bike as budget is so funny, this bike price would of been the highest of grades in bmx pricing 🤣 good review though, keep up the good work

      MTB is pricey. All things relative, there aren't many full suspension bikes at this price.

    Awesome to see someone that rides a stump jumper ride a Status. For a much cheaper bike I dig mine for a good backup bike. My status and levo run the same brakes, the status is very firm and grippy where as the levo was soft and spongy. I found the levo pistons were retracting way too much upon releasing the levers. Pulled the wheel and gently pulled the lever a few times to get the pistons further out in their resting position. This improved the feel a ton. Bleeding first didn’t change anything.

    I took my status 160 to whistler last summer. It was awesome on the flow trails but I felt pretty under gunned on the double black tech trails. Getting a modern dh bike this year, woooo!

    Good review man, I didn't expect you to hit a line on 140mm of travel. I guess i fall into what you were talking about regarding people who think they need more travel than they actually do. Im looking at getting a status 140 for my trail bike but i also want it to be able to be a backup bike for when my Enduro bike is out so it needs to be able to handle bike parks and all of that while also being a good trail bike for the non shuttle parks and for climbing when i have used all my shuttle passes. In your personal opinion would the status 140 be good for that use or should i just get a normal trail bike?

    • @coreymtb
      @coreymtb  7 місяців тому

      It would be a good bike for that! A bleed fixed the rear brake to where It's good on any trail. Actually I was riding the Status on double diamond tech in Queenstown. For an all-around the Stumpjumper evo is a little better. I'm riding an evo alloy this summer in whistler.

    I have both Turbo Levo and Status 160 with the same brakes. I changed the levers from Code R to Code RSC on my Levo and they feel amazing now. I had similar issues with my back brake from the factory on the Levo. However the Status is fully stock with 200/200 centerline and Code R and the brakes also feel pretty good. Silent and grabby and plenty of power. I think that some Code R brakes are sitting a lot in storage or on the bikes and they need often beed that's why this happens.

    Just got my Status 140 S3, changed from a 160 S2… the 160 was a bit of an overkill were I live, I did put the MTX Race brake pads and kept the Code R’s… thought it’s a cheap upgrade and worth every penny….

    I do believe your rear brake has a setup/quality issue. The rear brake takes way less heat than the front and has the same size rotor. My code Rs have been doing great.

      Im pretty minimal on set up. Just pumped it up till it got the sag about right and put the dials roughly in the middle. Even on my fox factory sus I can't tell the difference in dial settings.

      There should be a chart on Fox website with rebound corresponding to pressure

  • @bettercalldoula_monikajanu9802

    wow. nice riding. how do u setup your suspension / rebound- front/rear for jumpy yet also gnarly dh/enduro trails ? I either set up good for flow trails and jumps , but then struggling in gnarly terrain and opposite . thank u

      and also.. I hate my rear brake.. it is indeed fading out really really fast.. hate it .. but I am about to replace it for XTR 9120 soon

    • @coreymtb
      @coreymtb  Рік тому +2

      I'm not really a suspension wiz at all. Even on the higher end fox suspension I can't tell the difference between having the knobs in one direction vs the other. I set air pressure for about 20% sag, put the rebound in the middle and roll.

    • @coreymtb
      @coreymtb  Рік тому

      I have the 9120 on my stumpjumper and like it. I might suggest going with the 8120 as the 9120s have ceramic pistons which crack on mine every 3-4 months (of daily hard riding). I spend a lot of money replacing them.

    Hi I know am a bit late but great review: was wondering which you would choose between the status 140 or trek top fuel 8? I don’t do long days on the bike so just want bit of fun and something with not too much travel, any advice be much appreciated

    • @coreymtb
      @coreymtb  11 місяців тому

      Well the trek Top Fuel is really a cross country bike. If you don't want to jump at all, the Top Fuel is the best choice. I would propose looking at a Fuel Ex (what I am currently riding in New Zealand). Or a Stumpjumper. The Status is great for bike parks and dirt jumps, but it is not as good to climb as either of those.

    • @pacman1118
      @pacman1118 11 місяців тому

      I am not sure on that. For what it's worth though, 20mm of travel is really unnoticeable. For example I am currently riding a Stumjumper Evo with 160 upfront, but I still get around just as well on the Status.

    did you bleed the brakes in the end? I was thinking this might be my first upgrade to the bike but like you, I think it might be a factory bleed problem and will try if necessary.

      Actually my girlfriend got hurt not long after this video and then went home from Whistler, so I have not gotten a chance to mess with the brakes on it. Will be heading to New Zealand right after the new year, and I was going to mess with the brakes when I got there. No riding here in Florida jaja
