People need to stop spreading panic and misinformation about this. Everyone just rehashes other people's video titles without looking into anything themselves. Even in this video you're making a bold (and wrong) statement in your title and it just adds to the panic. You will NOT lose access. Once Fab launches, they will give you a way to claim them all quickly. If you have them claimed in Fab, you own them and can access them any time, even after this year. You are not losing access and you don't need to spend time downloading everything.
You based your comment on speculations. My title is not misinformation. If you don’t save your assets locally you will eventually loose access to them if you own them on Quixel. We don’t know yet how to own them on Fab and whether it is just the UE marketplace once’s or everything. We also don’t know yet if there is a quick way to claim them on Fab too. We just know we need to click “add to library” somewhere. Nothing else. Edit: I also saw no other UA-camr talking about this… Still don’t know anyone that did a video about this.
@@kibibytecompany No, Epic have sent out 2 emails about this, the second one clarifying that you will not lose access if you have them claimed, and also stating that they will give everyone a quick way to claim them all. There's no speculation here, I'm taking that directly from the emails Epic sent out. Your title on the other hand is pure speculation as you don't know or have anything to point to that says "you will lose access".
I literally share in the video the article that says you will loose access and you should save them locally. So the title is valid. Also, I have not received any email clarifying that there will be a simple solution to claiming the assets. I also asked fellow devs and they too got nothing. Could you send that to me please

As far as I see all these companies are working hard on pissing people off Maybe we really need a Gaming/Gaming Development Crash and start over with ownership of what People paid for. Does a Car dealer come to your house or the Bank and take the car away telling you "oh you only bought a license from us to Drive this particular vehicle we charged you 45.000 dollars for ! Now it's time to give it Back"
I don't get this take. These assets are free up until your creation has earned $2m in revenue in a year. They added and gave access to all of this for free use with unreal engine, free for indie devs up to the $2m revenue in a year. They've been up for years now. So this isnt something we paid for and are entitled to. Also your example isnt bullet proof. Thats what leasing is.
I came to the same conclusion. I do think the only free megascans available after 2025 will indeed be the ones all ready in the unreal marketplace, given that everything is moving to fab and they were already in the marketplace. Just plan for the worse case scenario i suppose.
