In my opinion the only reason to have ride by wire is for cruise control or an up and down quickshifter, or ideally both. Power modes are a gimmick that only really make sense on bikes with well over 100hp.

The main reason for ride by wire is safety systems and regulations in the EU requiring traction control (which needs ride by wire) on all new vehicles.

At the end of 2024 I decided to ride Tenere Explore. Just to find out that this motorcycle is not for me. And it turned out that... it was the discovery of the year. The engine on this bike is wonderful! I don't know if any manufacturer has a better one. Contrary to appearances, Tenere is largely a road motorcycle.

I have read that the Ride by Wire may have been added to help the CP2 meet Euro 5 Plus standards. I would prefer a manual throttle control I suppose.

I have actually seen a Ride by Wire let go a couple weeks ago. Me and my friend went on a ride which was our last ride of the season since it's gotten cold here in Canada lol. When we got to the gaz station, there was a guy with a Harley (one of those big baggers) with ride by wire and he had no throttle. He was stuck. Had to get it towed back home. He said that it happens in those harleys cause the connectors are not sealed (or sealed properly? Not sure lol) and they get corroded which creates a no throttle issue. I also heard that Yamaha had an issue with the Ride by Wire on the Tracer 900 so I hope they don't have the same issues with the T7. Makes me skeptical on the ride by wire side. I will probly still buy one since i'm more of an off road guy but I am almost tempted to wait a year to see if there is issues with the RBW system. I will keep riding my little CRF300L until then! Was hoping to upsize next year but will see. I think Kawa teased a new KLE so I also want to see what that will look like and see my options lol!

It's funny with the Tenere. It's the most reliable, best looking adventure bike by a country mile. So people start looking for little things to criticize. But I guess that just goes to show what a great bike it is. That new Tenere Rally is what an adventure bike should look like and I thought bmw and ktm might have had some change in direction with there style but omg they just get uglier every year. 😢

Simple is the best.... Most of the electronic assisted motorcycles are having lots of issues in their electronic units. Companies are also forced to make more electronic makeovers to sell more motorcycles.

Let’s state to obvious, the T7 is NOT A ROAD TOURER. The T7 is primarily off road of design, remote distances on dirt, desert type of bike. Want a dedicated Black top bike buy a Road Bike / tourer. Want cruise control and rider modes buy a road bike. The T7 should be kept simple, quality adjustable suspension, removable rear sub frame would have been nice. Some reduction in weight even better. If Auto gear box required, buy a bloody car.

      @KairyuRider  16 днів тому

@KirkAnderson-l3i so... I have space for 1 bike and no car.
Are you suggesting I should be on a road bike and not welcome in the dirt? Or suffer the 3hr to the dirt and 3 more hr home so I'm exhosted and make mistakes? Multi day trips of twisty pavement and dirt are off limits?
Why are we even looking at this top heavy over powered dirt bike? Should be on a 300l right?
P.s. cars don't lean very well.

My Suzuki gsx8s has a quickshifter, meh. None of the bikes I've ever owned had cruise control so it's impossible for me to miss it, plus I choose to ride a manual bike by choice. My car has adaptive cruise, cvt, etc, but I'm choosing to ride my motorcycle specifically for the distinct contrast to my car. The only improvements I'd like to see on my transalp is the ability to totally turn off TC and better oem suspension, even though my suspension is superb now after upgrading it.

Just bought a 2024 tenere, waited until I heard the announcement of the 2025's and literally 2 hours later I was at the dealer securing my 2024.
Gimmicks!! Why so many gimmicks on motorcycles. I've rode a few modern/tech fill bikes, so I have experienced.
The Y-connect on this 2024 is redundant and unnecessary.
At 46 years old this 2024 will be the last new motorcycle I will buy.
I'll be doing what Itchy Boots has just done, refurbish an older bike.

@@KairyuRider I have been surprised by the traction of modern tires like My Michelin Pilot V tires.. My FZ-07 will still pull a wheelie in a hard rain on pavement. I have skidded the rear wheel at 10 mph on a just below freezing evening with frost on the pavement too. I got caught in freezing rain in my 4 wheel drive pickup and could not stop for a red light on a steep hill with ABS either. An FZ-07 ABS was an option I saved $400.00 and got with no ABS.. Now they sell the MT-07 USA and it always has ABS..

When I had to pass a motorcycle course when I was 16, the final test was emergency stopping from 50km/h without locking the rear (or front) wheel.
Looking back it was a valuable less I took for granted.... bike control!

Idk yamahas lineup is odd, i dont think those with decision making capabilities ride the motorcycles. The yz yzx and wr-f are effectively the same cross country race bike, in adventure the tenere and tracer 9 are well over 400lbz and lack adequate suspension for off roading. Mx/enduro/dual sport/urban riders have been literally begging them for a 350 offering for well over ten years, but they decide to fund projects like the niken instead...

All this talk about replacing bikes with newer models after a year or two makes me think of taking your beloved pet to the pound because.... a new one was born, and you are tired of the the old ways of your first pet. Where is the love? In my youth I rode horses, trail riding around my home and on our acreage. More or less at the same time I began my career as a motorcyclist. Riding my 22 T7 reminds me or riding my horse. Tall in the next, long back side, stirrup mounting and dismounting, sitting/standing, confidence inspiring saunters and gallops, and reigns. These bikes have their own minds, and its not electronic. They handle very well with each rider input, and often handle well all on their own. If you want the best review of the T7 and how it performs, ARiemann1 will tell you first hand. He is sponsored by Yamaha but and independent reporter and he gives you his mind in articulate fashion. There is no question with this bike, and many you tube videos try in vain to raise questions. Bottom line, this bike has been equipped with a few refinements, and eventually a full reboot will come out....as they do. There is little doubt that Yamaha is in the works for new engine, and design from the frame up...just not this time. Yamaha means "Mountain Blade". Yes, simple is best, reliable, capable, and good looking... Your idea that a bike is ruined because of electronics...no...just inevitable. This is an industry standard now to meet market demands, and fixed...well....it was never broken....Too little too late....no....patience......this is not the end of the line. This is a non re-tooling refinement in sequence for the next generation T7, it may take another 5 years, but maybe not... Look at Suzuki with the DE800, it just suddenly appeared. Bottom line, reliability. I have never had a cable snap, they wear out over time...long time if they are going to break. I will be riding my T7 for the next twenty years I project...wear it out instead of trading it in for a new pet is the best way in my view...own discard, own discard seems wasteful to me
