@@skywalkerorder2839 Problem is that at this point I really don't care either way. I checked out of the story after TLJ. And nothing I've seen or heard yet in regards to ROS has changed that.
Noel Crenshaw yeah but wasn’t that RJ’s doing?!! From what I heard JJ was gonna take the story in another direction so I have hope for ep 9! #TheGrayOrder!!
Noel Crenshaw I heard JJ had deleted scenes of Luke using the force but Rian made JJ take them out for his story!!! Which makes me hate Rian Johnson even more!!
Out of all the new characters introduced in TFA, Finn was the one with the most potential. On paper a stormtrooper deserting sounds awesome but unfortunately it’s not exploited at all, as soon as he leaves the First Order he just becomes a generic dude despite the fact that all these new Stormtroopers are supposed to be brainwashed and trained from childhood.
you know even the worst thing with him defecting, it is how much he gets enjoyment killing his fellow troopers, despite having been with them. Look at any Defectors story, and you will note most of them defected while trying not to kill or injury too badly their former comrades. Two Soviet Pilots, and a North Korean Pilot come to my mind in how they looked for ways to defect without hurting their fellow country man. The moment he cheers upon firing upon his former comrades is the point where I knew JJ was not committed to addressing the genie he let out of the bottle. I have even read stories of former members of Hitler's own personal guard (SS Leibstandarte) start to have doubts as the war went on, and make decisions that went counter to the Nazi Ideology and even disobey commands near the end of the war. There was so much that could have been done with Finn, but neither JJ nor Rian cared to commit.
And they made a joke out of him because Rian Johnson "thought" he was funny. There was no other reason. So much of the franchise got ruined just because he thought some things would be cool, or funny, or subversive, he completely deserves all the hate he gets.
Watch Robot Head's video on Rian Johnson saying 'Empire Strikes Back wasn't well received when it came out. He was disappointed with the film, that says everything about his thoughts on the original Star Wars trilogy!
I have one thing to add: *Finn should NOT just behave like a normal dude.* This guy was raised to be a mindless drone in a fascist war machine. He doesn't even have a real name, but just a designation number. So it should be a massive struggle for him to even understand the fundamental ideas of freedom and individuality.
The Romulans are a pretty good example. However I was thinking about a character ark similar to Seven-of-Nine's. Even though Finn was not part of a cybernetic hive mind, his mental limitations, that result from his upbringing would be almost as severe. Just imagine having no family, recieving no emotional care and learning only strict obedience! The only sense of self Finn would have, would be his totally dependent existence as a small cog in a giant machine.
Oh, you guys are already having this conversation. :-D Well, at least the fact, that Finn doesn't even have a name is pretty Borgish. Don't you think? :-D
Finn drives me nuts because once again the wasted potential and what they do with him in Force Awakens and The Last Jedi....and don't get me started on that Finn/Rose whatever that's suppose to be that has all the chemistry of a wet fart.
I'm so sad about the path they went with Finn. He was easily my favorite new character after TFA, but he was reduced to stupid jokes and pointless plots in TLJ. We didnt learn anything new. He actually had a lot of character regression. I really dont care what happens to him now.
One other thing: Finn said that he "was taken from a family I'll never know.", so he has been with the First Order for 10-15+ years presumably training to be a stormtrooper (small arms combat), yet has not won a single small arms fight so far. In Ep7, he had to be saved from the rathtar by Rey, saved from the other stormtrooper by Han, and saved again by Rey from Kylo Ren. In Ep8, he had to be saved by BB8 on the Supremacy and saved again by Rose while on Crait. As a soldier, he's just not very good. Finn as a stormtrooper deserter was a good idea, but bad execution.
Yo to blow your mind further he is supposed to be one of the best stormtroopers and in command of his own squad. Real Finn backstory that was all a fever dream and he is just a janitor that they put in armor as a joke
@@tjmcfadden5137 read Greg Rucka's "Before the Awakening" - Finn was a top storm trooper cadet and was Phasma's favourite. They didn't follow through with this though... Sometimes the Canon material just doesn't connect well.
Finn’s character development was messed up from the first 10 minutes of TFA. He has never made a lick of sense and neither have any of the characters in the ST. TLJ screwed him even more by making him into even more of a joke. For all of Lucasfilm and Disney’s pandering and virtue signaling they’ve treated him as more of a racist caricature than anything else. Sad really.
@@skywalkerorder2839 Three films into a trilogy is too late to develop a character arc. Surely you can see that whatever bone they throw us will be forced and contrived. He should have sacrificed himself in TLJ instead that stupid Rose stopping him. You would do better to stop making excuses for their poor lack of writing skill.
Rodney Lawrence I’m not trying to excuse anything! In fact I hated TLJ! The only reason why I think that this movie 🎥 will be good is that It’s JJ working on it and it’s Rumored that GL is working on this movie 🎥!
Finn is a lost opportunity. I was hoping that he would be sort of a Harriett Tubman type figure who led other First Order Stormtroopers to freedom by his example. He could have inspired a mass mutiny. But alas, TLJ happened
I just wish they would put some facial hair on the boy speaking as a black man we just don't look right without that shit LOL got that boy looking softer than a pack of Charmin LOL
Finn could've been great, I was really looking forward to seeing more of him, but then an idiot got into the directer's chair and said "Expectations Subverted".
After watching TFA I was 100% certain Finn was going to be force sensetive. When Hosnian Prime was destroyed, Finn heard the screams through the force before the beams from Starkiller base even hit. Rian seem to have totally left that idea, but JJ is looking like he wants that storyline back with the first line in the last trailer for TROS
@@anonymousaccount4483 Maybe not the main Jedi, because I'm sure Rey would still have been the star. Finn would have been her right hand though. Rey would have learned how to be a jedi from Luke then pass it along to Finn and the next generation.
the force surrounds us and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together. - there is no such thing as “force sensetivity” it’s just some made up fan fiction... The force is everywhere.
I know that a lot of people don't like JJ, but I honestly think it would've been better to have him write and direct TLJ. It might not have been a masterpiece, but at least it would have had better continuity with TFA and expanded on the mysteries that were set up instead of "SuBvErTiNg ExPeCtAtIoNs". But that's just my opinion.
Not a big fan of the Sequels, but having Finn as the Jedi instead of Rey would have been a better choice. They could have made Kylo Ren a girl just to make it better.
I would've loved to see Finn unleash a dark side flurry or lightsaber strikes against a bewildered Kylo before Kylo pulled his own combo that results in what we saw in the film. That my friend would have put this trilogy on the right track. Not Rey becoming the Starkiller 💀
No way they'd ever have a strong wahmen who 'don't need no man' not being the hero and shoving it up the patriarchy's backside. Thats how Disney rolls now.
I always hoped Finn would have the force too. Then Finn and Rey would be able to talk about the force together and exchange view and support each other. But no, we got M’Rey Sue and her on/off sidekick, Cuckleberry Finn.
I wish all 3 were force sensitive. All three are versions of Luke in a way. Rey is if luke stayed on tattooine. Finn is if Luke joined the empire and Poe is if luke stayed fighting for the rebels. Maybe rey and Finn are jedis but poe just wants to use his force powers to fight the first order
After having his spine cut by Kylo, I was expecting this to be an important turning point for him, maybe he need cybernetic upgrade or really serious medical intervention that would leave him mess up and that could have really pushed him to either give up or in the opposite blind him with rage for the first order, I don't know, it could have been cool... but no he wakes up all fine the next day, fall down the table as a joke and run away to learn about capitalism lol
Why can’t they just make him a better character in the next movie? Why are you so eager for the only black male character to die a shitty death in the second film when he’s LITERALLY the co-protagonist???
Finn also clearly had a crush on Rey, and .. at the end of The Force Awakens, there is hint that Rey might possibly, possibly have a spark for him too. This is the biggest reason why I dislike Rose (the character, not the actress. Calm down internet). She is literally Darth Homewrecker. And in Episode 9 she will be the new Emperor. Every time Finn even *thinks* about Rey, she will taze him with purple lightening. Joking there of course. Flipping Rian “Giant Ego Head” Johnson just had to poop on every possible story arc that JJ handed to him though, because his ego demanded it. Self-indulgent narcissist.
Well, she basically sexually harrassed him in TLJ. I don't think Finn had feelings for her at all, let alone having a desire to kiss her, his baffled look during that scene says it all and Idk if that was intentional or just a coincidence, with Roundhead Ruin you never know and honestly who fucking cares at this point lol
Sarge PalmettoVIP I’m not sure it was Ruin Johnson that shat on Finn, from the moment JJ took the helmet off in TFA he had no conflict as a character. Ruin just ruined what was already ruined!
I am fed up with Disney Star wars because of Finn's treatment . Disney has teased a romance between Finn and Rey from the beginning and I bought in to it . Every time you see the stars promoting the Force Awakens its always John Boyega and Daisy Ridley doing the promos .Now they pushed that aside for this Reylo shit . If Finn is not going to get the Rey then they to stop having him chase her in every movie
I agree that Rian did a terrible job following through on everything set up in TFA...except the romantic element. Reylo has been there from the beginning, just lurking in the background waiting to reveal itself. Rey never seemed that into Finn, but her interactions with Kylo were highly emotional and full of symbolism from the myth of Persephone and various fairytales. Finn should have had an epic adventure of his own, and I wish that they'd give him a cool girlfriend instead of needy Rose. But I can't tell that he and Rey were ever meant to be a couple.
Yes she calls after Finn when he gets captured by the Monster & when Kylo slices his back & she says “and ask about Finn” in TLJ. They both care for eachother.
Fin is the only sequel character I enjoyed in TFA, and he keeps getting screwed over in the story. He is the only one I can say that could have been done better, rather than that should've never happened.
You want the A-Wing and X-Wing pilots to not exist? I think they were some of the best parts. They did their jobs flawlessly! Edit: Other than the fact everyone, other than Poe, died...
I think Rey and Poe had a lot of potential too, it's just that the plot actively undercut Rey's chances of making sense by the second half of the film, and Poe being gone the whole time hindered them greatly. And then of course TLJ nullified any chance of an arc they could have had.
@@jacookie9707 She's going to give birth to the New Force (henceforth called "The Rey"), which is wielded by "Skywalkers" (formerly known as Jedi). She's so powerful, she can reproduce through Parthenogenesis.
Finn is the protagonist in TFA, not Rey. Everything that happens in the movie is a consequence of him defecting from the First Order. Which in my opinion, was a piece of (possibly accidental) brilliance in the story of TFA. It shows what can happen when even just one person has the balls to stand up for what’s right. Honestly, that’s a far more powerful message than TLJ’s “we’re gonna win this war not by destroying what we hate, but by saving what we love” cringe.
Wow... Powerful ...! Finn is severely underused throughout the sequel trilogy... (and as this is just about him and not the others I'll reserve my other comments for those character videos) They've just put him in a position of potential to 'lead' then throttled him back to the class clown
"Everything that happens in the movie is a consequence of him defecting from the First Order" nooooope. hate to say it but maybe you need to watch that mediocre movie again. Only thing he contributes is knowing a weak spot on that base. Was rescuing Poe that useful? Any pilot could have done what he did once shields were down and bombs placed. Was he needed to lower shields? Han and Chewie could have had Phasma do that. Rey leaving that planet? nope, the FO attacking did that. FO attacked to get BB-8 , nothing to do with Finn escaping. Them going to see female-yoda? nope, Han chose that because he didn't want to go back to Resistence. Did Finn even help getting away from the other smugglers? his escape didn't change anything because they were already going back down there after Kylo read Poe's mind and by that time Rey had already taken in BB-8, which is what really drove things.
I remember sitting in the theatre for TLJ watching Finn about to ram himself into that laser gun and crying because I couldn’t believe how perfect and beautiful if an ending that would be for him. It seemed like the perfect way to bring him full circle. Then Rose had to come in and stop him and screw everything up because she was a fangirl with a crush. Girl you can’t save EVERYTHING with love or because of love.
Throughout this ST, we see; no link between Finn and Phasma to warrant the rivalry, no link explaining why Finn is adamant to find Rey, nothing to convince me that he wants to defect from the FO (is he a little Squamish and doesn’t want his friends to be killed?), no convincing bond between Finn and Rose to warrant a kiss (maybe she was just riding the thrill of the Fathir chase and was desperate for anything good to happen) We shouldn’t HAVE to read comics as a stopgap between each movie to link it all together. It is not an excuse the writers and story department can use
Poor guy he's a genuine star wars fan and was so excited in the beginning, then he had to waste years being a token black guy in this trilogy. Good thing they paid him well
It's an insanely stupid character. He is basically a child soldier who has seen nothing but war for a decade yet Disney decided to make him into some kind of bumbling fool and comic relief character. It's impossible to belief even for a second that he had seen even a single death in his life.
They really took Plinkett's criticism of the lifelessness of the prequels seriously, with the sequels they went overboard on everyone saying WOOOOH and hugging enthusiastically etc
I thought Finn would be Lando's son, taken by the First Order, & that as the trilogy progressed, we would see that rebellious side play out. Instead, he is a character filled with fear, yet not turned to the Dark side. So many missed opportunities.
I'm glad he is not Lando's son. That would imply there is only one black person in the Star Wars mythos. He should have been his own person who decided he would not obey the evil orders of the First order. That had huge potential.
The way the writing was at the beginning of the movie I thought Finn was going to be a lot more interesting in the Last Jedi. I assumed since he was a former Stormtrooper the way that the First Order was tracking the Resistance was through some sort of tracking device implanted in him. (the tech undoubtedly exists, and the empire would definitely do this to its soldiers!) But no, it was just some throwaway line... "We can track them thru hyperspace now! *shrug*" I assumed he was trying to leave the ship to keep his friends safe because he realized they were tracking HIM. And that's what made me pissed off even more at Rose because she kept him on the ship with everyone else when he was trying to keep them out of danger. Somehow Rian Johnson wasn't intelligent enough to write from an angle that made sense like that. I really wasn't expecting Fin to still be a coward trying to just run away. But I guess Rian was trying to make some sort of, as George Lucas called it, "rhyming" with Han Solo's constantly needing to leave because of Jabba. This movie was a mess! None of the writing decisions make sense. It ruined Fin AND Laura Dern.
All I can hope for is that Finn and Poe get expanded on in the lore outside the movies in the coming years. There is still room for them to have adventures together.
That Dude I rolled my eyes when I seen that clip in TROS trailer. That’s Finns character in a nutshell: “REEEEY!” I’ll never forget when Finn woke up from a wet dream in TLJ; walking around looking like a damaged exploding condom.
John Boyega should have been Jao Assam. For those who didn't read the Legacy comics of the EU, he's an Imperial Knight of the now-reformed Fel Empire who rebels against his commanders and goes AWOL to find his master, whose lightsaber has been found by smuggler and SALVAGER Ania Solo. Sound familiar? Sound better? Absolutely. John? I would have loved you in this role.
Unlike Original and even Prequel trilogy, each movie in this trilogy actually feels like an episode: self-contained, small scoped, and without individual merit
Ive been saying since day one that Finn has the most potential as a character. Im so mad that they freaking threw him away. And he def should be force sensitive.
I know this seems like an echo of what others have already said, but I came to the same conclusion immediately when I saw TLJ that Finn should have died. The idea that he's always been a coward, running from something when he should have taken a stand, afraid to openly admit his feelings for Rey, and only really confronting Phasma when he's solidly got the upper hand led me to believe that the absolute most profound and noble change that could be made to his character was making the decision to sacrifice himself. Theeeeeen... Rose happened and we got some really watered-down, sappy, and contrary romantic crap. It might have even been acceptable if Rose confessed her love and then sacrificed herself first to prove it, giving Finn something to think about every time he feels the need to run away, but that didn't happen, either. It's bad enough that the Mouse killed off the past in a hateful way, but it seems that they're also intent on sterilizing the present as well as sacrificing the future to do so.
One of the BIGGEST MISSED opportunities that they failed at was MAKING FINN the Jedi. Making Finn the MAIN character and following the end of the Skywalker saga from the view of a stormtrooper.
Lionard Kirsch sorry but I don’t give up after on SW after one movie 🎥 especially if it’s not even made by the same director! JJ who had plans for Luke involving the force until Rian forced JJ not to use them for his story!! So yeah like the rebellion/resistance has always said “there’s hope!” #TheGrayOrder!
@@skywalkerorder2839 sorry to say this but JJ is a talentless hack, let's not forget this guy was the one to first subvert expectations with Finn when he decided that he was a fucking janitor, all for 'comic' relief, his whole 'arc' in TFA is all over the place and does not feel organic at all, he was screwed up from the very beginning, so much could've been done in interesting ways with this character, but JJ can't be bothered to make a unique and bold script/film to save his skin, that's my two cents at least...
Brian Cunningham Wow you’re accusing me of being a bot when I said I hated TLJ and TFA was just average!! I mean I can’t at least like TFA? I mean for me it was an enjoyable movie 🎥 that yeah may have been a half copy of ANH but it’s much better than TLJ! And that’s why I think ep 9 will at least be a good movie 🎥!! But seriously think about it? If I was a bot then I would praise Disney and say that everything’s under control and stuff like that when it’s obviously not!!
Finn is such a missed opportunity, instead all I remember him for is running away, running after Rey, screaming her name at the camera and whooping and hollering at key moments to try and generate some excitement for this dry husk of a sequel story...
Force Awakens: Finn is an interesting character who is turning his back on the First Order and now wants to make things right. The Last Jedi: Look at Finn in his big, squirting body condom!! Hilarious right!!! 🤦♂️
The canon book Before the Awakening reveals that the TR-8R trooper (Nines) and the trooper at the start of the film (Slip) were both his friends and served under him in his platoon. The book also reveals that Captain Phasma greatly admired Finn, as (by her metric) he was the greatest stormtrooper to ever be. Of course, they squandered all of this in The Last Jedi.
They blew such an opportunity with Finn. He could have been fascinating and turned the storm troopers into a huge part of the story but after Finn escapes in TFA it is really never brought up again. He instantly kills fellow storm troopers as he rescues Poe, he apparently instantly got over his aversion to killing. As far as his arc they put him through the same one twice. He runs away and finds his courage again in TLJ so he's apparently very forgetful as well as a being a bit of a joke...
Honestly I felt that Finn COULD have been one of those characters in the Star Wars Universe that should've been beloved. This character had the potential to have staying power like Han Solo, Lando Calrissian or Ashoka etc. Unfortunately in The Last Jedi, Finn became a wasted character and shared a scene with Rose(another wasted character as well) that was awkward and forced to be kind. I think his character will be salvaged, somewhat, in The Rise of Skywalker. But for Finn to "rebound" from being permanently labeled a "wasted" character needs, what I call "The Ashoka Treatment": have a writer/creator(him OR her) with the backbone, thru great storytelling and character growth, work on the character giving us the fans the choice to accept the character with open arms. This could be done through novels and comics. I know that saying that is a bad word but with Star Wars movies taking a hiatus after Episode 9, what other way is there. I would, if I could write, LOVE to take on the challenge of "redeeming" this character is the eyes of Star Wars fans!
The "Stormtroopers deserting the Empire" story was actually explored in "Hand of the Emperor" in the EU (correct me if I got that title wrong guys, I read it years ago) and if Disney hadn't completely thrown away the canon, they could have used that as a reference for Finn's character. I was actually leaning into the idea that you had, Thor, about Finn's potential when I saw the trailer for the Force Awakens. Like you, I was greatly disappointed. I was also disappointed that Rey and Kylo weren't Jason and Jana Solo and/or that Ben Solo wasn't in fact Ben Skywalker (which would have been awesome but also would have required Mara Jade to be there as well, or at least a reference to her death during the Yuzhon Vong conflict) but that's a discussion for another time.
Why didn't something awesome like what Thor is suggesting here happen to Finn in the movies? Because they're terrible hack writers afraid to commit to anything creative and instead played it dumb, which is (only temporarily) safer. Damn, what could have been.
The Resistance seemed like the villains in Last Jedi. Admiral Holdo was a Nazi by telling Poe he should blindly follow orders without question and Rose was like a Soviet NKVD Commissar zapping people trying to run away from what is supposed to be a volunteer militia
Holdo was a stupidly written character no matter how you try to justify her existence. A baby bird could have written a better character than Rian Johnson did.
Honestly, the first half of Force Awakens was good. It set up a bunch of interesting characters. Rey started out interesting. Finn and Poe started out interesting. Even Kylo Ren was interesting in the beginning. The problem was that there was never any development of their characters. I assumed it was going to happen in TLJ, but obviously that was naive of me. It's a shame that so much potential was squandered.
The last Jedi derailed the entire story and every character was so flat. It’s a shame how now with only 2 movie left they have to pick up the pieces and try to make it cohesive
I remember sitting in the Theater watching The Force Awakens. It was the first star wars movie I'd ever seen in theaters and newest Star Wars movie to experience since watching The Revenge of The Sith. When Finn and Poe are flying on the tie fighter Poe gives Finn a name after realizing he was given a number. When they blow up the cannons and Finn and Poe both cheer in celebration, I had the biggest smile on my face. Finn was my Favorite character. And when Rey hugs Finn after she tells him she knew it was his idea to go rescue her and not leave her behind,I really liked the Relationship between Rey and Finn. I wanted to see where it would go. And I left TLJ very disappointed with Rey and Finn.
I really, REALLY wish you’d make a video about how this trilogy is seemingly HELL-BENT on separating Finn from Rey. There are so many sad and unfortunate implications of this that I’m surprised it continues to go over your head. Combined with the possibility of reylo, the racist implications of this are potentially massive. I really wish you would address this man. It’s deeply frustrating that nobody seems to notice this.
Finn is the character with the most wasted potential in the sequels, I honestly feel sorry for John since his character never evolved from being more than a coward.
Thank You for this video. There were issues with Force Awakening but Finn and Po had promise coming out of the movie. How was Poe such a great pilot and Finn overcoming the brainwashing of the First Order. In the comics finding out that Poe's parent guarded a force tree. Also Finn being able to hear the death and destruction of the Galactic Alliance hinted at force sensitivity. It would have been epic to find out that Finn, Poe, and Rey were children of the force. It would have been a perfect way to give the fans diversity and a epic story that all fans could relate to. Alas all these bread crumbs were left to rot by The Last Jedi. So, so disappointing.
I forget who said this, but someone said in an interview that after they had cast everyone, they realized it was too white and male for them having a clean slate, so they wrote some new characters, just to cast more POCs. I think finn was one of those characters. He just feels slapped into all of his scenes in TFA, without any real reason to be there.
He really was originally a Solo, buy as the character was too much as Han, they changed it to a stormtrooper. He was one of the first characters to be done.
As for Finns character... he wants to run away when he realizes he wants out. He then meets his first 2 friends and from there on its all about him and Rey. Except it isnt developed, neither is his relation to Phasma and why there is hate there. It feels like there was a part in the script that said phasma and finn came from the same homeworld or that finns people did something to phasmas people and she blames him for it. But they cut it all out and then they had to recut the movie. And why does every stormtrooper know who finn is? What are the odds.
Having Finn be part of the elite storm troopers is a great idea. Not only does it give his character a great sense of history, you also have all the emotional guilt to play with, and it also makes him a competent rebel defector as he would be incredibly skilled and have alot of first order intel. Instead he's just a goofy storm trooper garbage man.
The why do u watch every video discussing these damn characters. Stop spreading hate buddy I like these characters a lot and I’m eagerly waiting for ep 9. Honestly Finn and Poe's interactions with each other were the best part of TFA for me. It showed how charismatic and kind Poe was in how he opened up to Finn and in how he got Finn to open up to him. It caused Finn to show some humanity in a way that felt natural. He was raised to have the mindset of a clone, to view himself as a dispensable tool for the First Order and nothing more. Finn defied most of that brainstorming best in the bond he had with a fellow stormtrooper who died in his arms, and in how he bonded with Poe during their escape. Outside of bonds made in combat together, Finn shouldn't really be able to fit in or understand people and relationships. But instead all of that development gets thrown out the window and aside from being nervous to fight, he acts completely normal.
Finn has easily been the biggest disappointment for me of the new characters.

you know even the worst thing with him defecting, it is how much he gets enjoyment killing his fellow troopers, despite having been with them.
Bad writing thats why. Same with Hux had so much potential but they made a joke out of him.
And they made a joke out of him because Rian Johnson "thought" he was funny. There was no other reason. So much of the franchise got ruined just because he thought some things would be cool, or funny, or subversive, he completely deserves all the hate he gets.
Hux was my favourite character in TFA and I was really interested in seeing what they would do with him.
Watch Robot Head's video on Rian Johnson saying 'Empire Strikes Back wasn't well received when it came out. He was disappointed with the film, that says everything about his thoughts on the original Star Wars trilogy!
Rian made Hux a joke. All the characters are jokes in TLJ
He could've been the Agent Kallus character from Star Wars Rebels that this trilogy could've used.

The only sense of self Finn would have, would be his totally dependent existence as a small cog in a giant machine.
Oh, you guys are already having this conversation. :-D
Well, at least the fact, that Finn doesn't even have a name is pretty Borgish. Don't you think? :-D
Finn drives me nuts because once again the wasted potential and what they do with him in Force Awakens and The Last Jedi....and don't get me started on that Finn/Rose whatever that's suppose to be that has all the chemistry of a wet fart.
Yep
JJ loves how it ALL played out. Doesn't disturb the PLAN at all.
Blechhhh
Finn, that poor bastard. I want to like him so much, but it's hard to root for a guy who's so incompetent.
What's ironic is even finn has a WTF look when rose surprise kisses him in TLJ. Even the actor seemed like "this really seems out of no where".

I'm so sad about the path they went with Finn. He was easily my favorite new character after TFA, but he was reduced to stupid jokes and pointless plots in TLJ. We didnt learn anything new. He actually had a lot of character regression. I really dont care what happens to him now.
Justine Harper luckily it looks like Fin is getting a new character Arc in TROS!!
Marion Dorsey Wait really!! People had a problem with that!!? So you’re saying it’s the fans fault that we didn’t get a better Arc for Fin in TFA!!?
Consider your expectations subverted
David Miller that what was Rian Johnson did JJ has never tried to do that from what I’ve seen!!
If one movie hyped the character, and another film disappointed you, then maybe you should let the third one make up your mind about Finn. 😉
This add to my disbelief that Finn was a Stormertropper. Were all Stormertroopers as silly as him?
Yo to blow your mind further he is supposed to be one of the best stormtroopers and in command of his own squad. Real Finn backstory that was all a fever dream and he is just a janitor that they put in armor as a joke
Its mentioned he was largely part of sanitation before being shifted

Finn’s character development was messed up from the first 10 minutes of TFA. He has never made a lick of sense and neither have any of the characters in the ST.
TLJ screwed him even more by making him into even more of a joke. For all of Lucasfilm and Disney’s pandering and virtue signaling they’ve treated him as more of a racist caricature than anything else. Sad really.
VulturePilot luckily it looks like Fin is getting a new character Arc in TROS!!
He's the Jar-Jar Binks (comic relief) of the ST, which also happens to be a racist caricature.
Finn is definitely a racist character just the usual funny black man that is a side character so screw Disney and Lucas film

I was also on board with that theory and I'm sure that was the original plan. You know just what we got tho.
Aleksander Wirsching If JJ did Last Jedi, Finn would’ve been the main Jedi
But no, we got M’Rey Sue and her on/off sidekick, Cuckleberry Finn.
nah cause women aren't bad people, only white men
I wish all 3 were force sensitive. All three are versions of Luke in a way. Rey is if luke stayed on tattooine. Finn is if Luke joined the empire and Poe is if luke stayed fighting for the rebels. Maybe rey and Finn are jedis but poe just wants to use his force powers to fight the first order
Not allowing Finn & Poe's friendship to continue throughout The Last Jedi: Huge Mistake.
@FarnsworthIII They really did make a great team. Stop holding my hand was great!
I agree.. one of my favourite things about TFA was how Poe & Finn became instant best buds.
I agree, they should did that Mission in Last jedi, not with Rose .
Finn: the opportunity with the size of the Death Star.
Disney: Manages to miss it completely.
After having his spine cut by Kylo, I was expecting this to be an important turning point for him, maybe he need cybernetic upgrade or really serious medical intervention that would leave him mess up and that could have really pushed him to either give up or in the opposite blind him with rage for the first order, I don't know, it could have been cool... but no he wakes up all fine the next day, fall down the table as a joke and run away to learn about capitalism lol
there should have been time gap
The entire Sequel Trilogy is tragic with how poorly they handled their own new characters.

Revdnar Silver honestly I wouldn’t care if it was supposed to break. It would have sent a powerful message.
By that point I wanted them both to die when she crashed into him. At least it would have put him out of his misery and got rid of her.
Does Rey ever ask "Where's Finn?". My boy got zoned.
You hit it right on the head I haven't heard that chick put out a pob for that boy's whereabouts ever LOL

I think we're in the darkest timeline
Finn is a wasted character in the trilogy just how the sequels are a waste of a trilogy

To bad it was, like you said, accidental. Imagine what would be if that was the intent and the focus of TFA.

@@onlyonestarwarsfan5337 yea you're right without Finn fe wouldn't have escaped or rey survived the fight

Also, I love your name.
Throughout this ST, we see; no link between Finn and Phasma to warrant the rivalry, no link explaining why Finn is adamant to find Rey, nothing to convince me that he wants to defect from the FO (is he a little Squamish and doesn’t want his friends to be killed?), no convincing bond between Finn and Rose to warrant a kiss (maybe she was just riding the thrill of the Fathir chase and was desperate for anything good to happen)
We shouldn’t HAVE to read comics as a stopgap between each movie to link it all together. It is not an excuse the writers and story department can use
Finn's dad was the Stormtrooper that banged his head walking through the blast door in A New Hope.
Finn’s actor John deserves so much better in my opinion🙄

Chasing Rey and running away is Finns greatest legacy! How could you not like that? It’s masterful writing.
Finn had no problem killing his trooper mates when he left with poe
The way the writing was at the beginning of the movie I thought Finn was going to be a lot more interesting in the Last Jedi. I assumed since he was a former Stormtrooper the way that the First Order was tracking the Resistance was through some sort of tracking device implanted in him. (the tech undoubtedly exists, and the empire would definitely do this to its soldiers!) But no, it was just some throwaway line...
"We can track them thru hyperspace now! *shrug*"
I assumed he was trying to leave the ship to keep his friends safe because he realized they were tracking HIM.
I was so disappointed with Finn. He had so much potential and I feel like they ruined him.
All I can hope for is that Finn and Poe get expanded on in the lore outside the movies in the coming years. There is still room for them to have adventures together.

ThePaladinAuthor UA-cam luckily it looks like Fin is getting a new character Arc in TROS!!
For a second there I thought Finn was force sensitive
Unlike Original and even Prequel trilogy, each movie in this trilogy actually feels like an episode: self-contained, small scoped, and without individual merit
Ive been saying since day one that Finn has the most potential as a character. Im so mad that they freaking threw him away. And he def should be force sensitive.
This hit me right in the feels because you are so right about this.
Ah yes, that moment when Rose "save" Finn by **CRASHING** into in his fecking ship...

Force Awakens: Finn is an interesting character who is turning his back on the First Order and now wants to make things right.
The Last Jedi: Look at Finn in his big, squirting body condom!! Hilarious right!!!

Imagine if Rose crashing into Finn ended up killing him
They blew such an opportunity with Finn.

Rodney Lawrence ...I know. It was just a joke regarding that quote from the movie
Finn started out as an interesting character only to be degraded into a complete joke in TLJ
Finn is just in these movies to yell "rey" and be a comedic relief
Remember the the first trailer for The Force awakens, when he popped up... I was Soo excited...

Holdo was a stupidly written character no matter how you try to justify her existence. A baby bird could have written a better character than Rian Johnson did.
@@snoopy7261 a pathetic attempt at writing Snape, but putting Umbridge in his place in a way that doesn't work
Honestly, the first half of Force Awakens was good.
When Finn and Poe are flying on the tie fighter
Poe gives Finn a name after realizing he was given a number.
I wish Finn was the main Jedi
I really, REALLY wish you’d make a video about how this trilogy is seemingly HELL-BENT on separating Finn from Rey. There are so many sad and unfortunate implications of this that I’m surprised it continues to go over your head. Combined with the possibility of reylo, the racist implications of this are potentially massive. I really wish you would address this man. It’s deeply frustrating that nobody seems to notice this.
Finn is the character with the most wasted potential in the sequels, I honestly feel sorry for John since his character never evolved from being more than a coward.
you are an underdeveloped dumbass he isn't a coward
The Last Jedi did Finn so dirty. He deserved better
Finns Character Arc is proof Disney doesn’t know how to write a story and that they don’t understand Star Wars at all
As for Finns character... he wants to run away when he realizes he wants out.
Finn should of been the jedi from the get go.
that would have been cool
Having Finn be part of the elite storm troopers is a great idea. Not only does it give his character a great sense of history, you also have all the emotional guilt to play with, and it also makes him a competent rebel defector as he would be incredibly skilled and have alot of first order intel. Instead he's just a goofy storm trooper garbage man.
nope I have no interest in learning more about these bland characters
Me neither.
The why do u watch every video discussing these damn characters.
Stop spreading hate buddy
I like these characters a lot and I’m eagerly waiting for ep 9.
I just watched all the movies before tfa for the first time in 2015 when I was 15 yrs old. I loved the ot but hated the prequels. The sequels are the only Star Wars movies I’ve seen in theatre and I love them.
@@arshdeepoberoi140 Ok so you're saying don't hate and yet you talking about hating the prequels that already make's you a shitty fan. Because the prequels were great, then you talk about watching them for the first time at 15 and say the new one's are the one's you watched in the theaters you're running on nostalgia not commen sense the new movies are shit compared to the prequels.
@@dereklopez9060 Bruh everyone knows that the prequels- while having great moments and fights- were boring cgi cinematic snoozes.
@@arshdeepoberoi140 why are you hating on the prequels and bringing them up unnecessarily. It might be so that you don't like the prequels but for a lot of people that was the first ever exposure to star wars. With your sentiment there, I thought you'd know better
Godsake!! Your videos are just perfect. I have literally watched almost all of them. When I am your neighborhood I just wanna offer to you beer, coffee or tea!!!
Finn is a garbage character - all he does is have panic attacks and run into danger screaming "REEEYYY!"
It would have been cool if he had his own crew of stormtrooper defectors who remained neutral until the end.
Agreed, his character was absolutely wasted.
