    'Pork' Seitan
    • 75g Chickpeas, cooked
    • 56g Soy milk
    • 8g Coconut oil
    • 3g Sea salt
    • 1/2 tsp Apple cider vinegar
    • 1 tbsp Vegan 'Chicken' stock powder ( • Vegan 'Chicken' Stock ... )
    • 65g Vital wheat gluten
    Char Siu Marinade
    • 1 tbsp BBQ pork seasoning (amzn.to/3k0tN9U)
    • 1 tbsp Five spice powder (amzn.to/33f4lrm)
    • 1 tbsp Hoisin sauce (amzn.to/2BTxDRe)
    • 1 tbsp Soy sauce (amzn.to/3flRuWN)
    • 1 tbsp Maple syrup
    • 1 tsp Dark soy sauce (amzn.to/33gaALG)
    • 1 tsp Sesame oil
    • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine (amzn.to/3gihrba)
    • 1/2 tbsp Red miso paste (amzn.to/3hY1Uha)
    • 1/2 tsp Paprika
    • 1 tbsp Water
    • 5 g Ginger, grated

    this looks amazing! it is exactly what I am looking for! It's had to find good dim sum in the US because it is so meat heavy and with the pandemic, my favorite place got rid of the vegetarian and vegan recipes for takeout. I loved making char siu for christmas and will be making it this year vegan!

    So Happy & Lucky to have found your channel, I just subscribed. Store bought vegan Char Siu is usually so bad, neon red sponges. Your's looks nice and firm, can't wait to try it. Thank you for posting this terrific Char Siu Recipe. Looking forward to trying out your bows & other vegan recipes. 1 Question, have you every tried it with mushroom seasoning instead of the Chick'n stock powder?

    I made homemade char ciu in the past from pork loin, so I see you followed the process....

    I saw other video that they washed the dough to separate the starch and gulten. Yours reicipes do not need washing off the starch??

      Washing the dough is another way to get gluten. This recipe uses Vital Wheat Gluten so no need to wash. I hope this helps.

    What substitute can we use for the vital wheat gluten ? In my country i can't find it

      Hi Raveena, you can use plain flour or bread flour and wash the starch off to get the gluten. I will be making a video showing this method very soon, in the meantime this video is helpful: ua-cam.com/video/pVL43XD_c4U/v-deo.html.
      After you get the gluten from the flour, you then blend it up in a food processor with all the 'pork' seasoning, wrap it up in parchment paper and then tightly wrap with a muslin/cheesecloth. Then you can either steam it or simmer in water for 1 hour. Hope this helps!

      use NOODLE, bread, or pizza flour.
      make a dough, knead it, wash it, then blitz it with the chickpea flour

    Hold on now, Vegan And Pork in 1 Sentence ? That doesn't exists ! Dont mind if 1 doesnt want to eat meat, but stop calling crap that isnt meat like Pork, why call it Pork when its not even closely related ?
