    Thank you Neville. Another great video. Your work with your camera is such an asset to the group and in helping raise much needed funds to see Just Jane back were she belongs, in the air. Thanks to your work and those who you film, Garlieston's Military Weekend have just made a donation. Lest We Forget.

    Great video Neville. How wonderful to see Just Jane and the mosquito doing their taxi runs. The work the guys have done and continue to do is brilliant. Doing what they do so that we never forget. It’s a credit to the memory of all the men who served and of who so many lost their lives in such a dark period of our history. Thank you for sharing this video with us. Best wishes.

    The 4K is so much better. We see the propellers on the screen the way they would appear when you're there. We don't see the individual blades as you do with lower-grade videos. Thanks for the effort.

    Thank you for your videos. It's a pity that the Mosquito can't fly, but hopefully we will see the Lancaster fly together with the one from BBMF.

    I like how they've converted the H2S antenna fairing into an observation dome.

    • @BradleyWinder96
      @BradleyWinder96 2 роки тому

      I assume you’re joking? During wartime the H2S fairing wasn’t painted but the perspex was scuffed to prevent clear photographs being taken of it. Then it was painted as seen on NX - 3/4 black and 1/4 clear, why? Because two of the Lancs downward ID lamps are covered by the fairing and so the aft section of the fairing was left clear. This is the configuration NX represents. Post-war, the whole thing was painted black and later still, when NX served with the French Navy the fairing was totally clear.

    Do the same crew taxi the lanc each time or is shared amongst a group? The same question for the Mossie I assume it is different people. And once again thank you for the time and effort you put into these regular updates.

    It (the Lancaster) had clipped wings when I saw it do this last year.Are these new (restored) wings?
    I'd also be interested to know how you get the props blurred like that as sometimes in mine they can appear to be almost stationary?

    • @Simon_Nonymous
      @Simon_Nonymous 2 роки тому

      Chris, I'd have to rewatch several vids to be sure but I think these are the new wingtips put on exisiting wings, and that work is now underway to restore new wings. If I got that wrong - apologies!
      Prop blurr - it's determined by the shutter speed of your camera (stills or video); higher shutter speeds can freeze the blade, lower speeds will blur it. Depending on the prop speed, if shooting video you can also get effects like the prop going backwards as well. Solution: you can practise on a table fan and change your settings to see what works for you, but generally if your camera will support higher shutter speeds, that will reduce/stop prop blur

      @@Simon_Nonymous I want it as it above which is how it appears to our eyes.We are supposed to use a shutter speed that is double our frame rate,which I do but this is too fast obviously.If I slow it down it gets choppy,which I don't want.I hope Neville Wheeldon doesn't mind me putting this link here.......

      @@Simon_Nonymous Thanks.I don't like slow frame rates where people use 24FPS just to be 'cinematic' and one of the cool guys,but will have to play around with other settings.Good idea with the fan (that I don't have)!

    Neville, when the new airstrip/runway is constructed, will the Mosquito be allowed to do tail up taxi runs on it, or will it be confined to the existing taxiing area?

    • @thephilpott2194
      @thephilpott2194 2 роки тому

      As regards getting up onto the mainwheels for a fast taxi, I was interested to see the tailplane flutter around 12 minutes in, when it was run up to 2/3 power with the brakes on. We'd have to see the kiwi or US mosquito run up from a similar angle to see if that is to be expected. Granted the c/s area of the fuselage towards the tail is very small..possibly the flutter is normal...? UK regs require all the woodwork to be redone for flight, not all bad news as someone has made all the bucks now....hope springs eternal!

    What's the point of just taxiing around? Waste of gas. My uncle flew Mosquitos with 418 squadron but would never really talk about the war unless he had a few drinks in him.
