For the price, I think it should be at least a1600cc, turbo charged engine . Fuel consumption would still be acceptable. Remember the old power to weight ratio. So the same could be said of this Peugeot. 1200 cc against a 1600cc Turbo, Granted, there would be a slight increase in overall vehicle weight due to the larger engine, but I wouldn't think that'd add up to much in much higher petrol consumption, if any. I own a Peugeot in Australia and there is no issue at all getting parts, and plenty of independent mechanics around. I had a fan controller fail in my car, got it diagnosed at the local indy, part delivered and fixed the same day. Ridiculous comment. I am German, been working in the car industry for 23 years , mainly for VW group, as an engineer, I think i am qualified enough to tell that Peugeot now is considered as mid premium in continental Europe, and moving fast to become an upmarket brand. They have dramatically levelled up since 2012-2014. Design is just absolutely stunning, interior very stylish and they offer better value for money than anything the German car makers do nowadays. It's time to understand that people change, companies and brands change as well and it's incredibly unfair to keep judging Peugeots based on what they were in the 90's, since they have improved so much. Time to stop living in the past. Come to Germany, Austria or Switzerland and you'll see Peugeots everywhere.
true, Peugeot is not (yet) premium for us here in europe too....but it's not that far off and its models in their top trims sure feel like it is (I should know since I have last gen 508, and I had a couple of A4 before it).... but the funny thing is that at things you "down under" consider premium, we here wouldn't give a second look! so, judging things by "the taste or preference" isn't really a measure of quality....

We shudda got the new 208. Great market segment for Peugeot to be in here in AU. And it wudda sold like hot-cakes here.
Great looking car, fuel economy.Sure, it hasn't got stacks of power, less is more sometimes
I love the design 😊, moreover, love the design of the new Prius😅.
I just wish brands such as Toyota design a funky retro quirky small car like Fiat 500 or Mini.
I might get a used BMW 530 d manual
Sure, why not?
It’s gorgeous. But that steering wheel is a no from me.
The equivalent of a Vauxhall Astra or Toyota Corolla. Actually a nice car if you live in France. Not so nice in Australia where the dealer network is absolutely POOR if you have an issue and God help if you need a spare part. When in Paris do as the French. Just not applicable in Australia or USA. I would really take the pragmatic alternative from Korea or Japan.
I own a Peugeot in Australia and there is no issue at all getting parts, and plenty of independent mechanics around. I had a fan controller fail in my car, got it diagnosed at the local indy, part delivered and fixed the same day. There's also a very good dealer in Sydney called Continental who have knowledgeable staff at the parts counter and keep good stock. I do agree experience at the dealers can vary substantially but that goes for all cars, I prefer dealing with independent workshops as they are usually cheaper and more knowledgable.
@@bigchief2331 That would be fine with an older Peugeot. The most modern examples need dedicated diagnostic equipment
@@airlinesecrets mine is a T9 308 so it’s not old. The diagnostic equipment and software is available to anyone, they use the same system that Peugeot dealers use.
Wish I had the money for the wagon
It looks beautiful ❤️
$55k for a miserable 96kW??? Peugeot is nuts.
Underwhelming for the asking prices. Also, being a Euro it will have soft brakes meaning 4 new rotors and pads at around 40,000 kms @ $1,700 or so. No thanks
My 308 is on 160,000 km and rear brakes untouched, front pads and rotors changed at 120,000 and cost around $700.
Love the wagon.
Good luck getting in and out with that low steering wheel. Also good luck with french reliability.
What are they smoking - can I have some? 😲
How the hack is 1258KG consider light XDDDDDDDDDDDDDD???????????
It’s extremely light for a new car in 2022.
$50k and the rear view camera looks like it’s from a Nokia 6500
Huh. I thought the new 360 cam was half decent.
New camera looks fantastic
I’m glad consumers have a decent choice of cars, but I would honestly rather just play it safe and buy a Cerato, i30, or even an Impreza.
What is there to play safe about?? Peugeot's are very reliable cars these day, and significantly nicer than any Korean alternative or the dated Subarus with thirsty underpowered engines and noisy CVT's
@@bigchief2331 Agree. "noisy" = droning CVT

Peugeot 🥰
I don't think I will trade in my 100Kw, 400Nm Turbo-Diesel 307 Wagon for an overpriced Daihatsu Charade
Unusual sentiment coming from a Peugeot person. Usually your kind understands these cars better than most.
“Leather feels like the one in a vehicle double the price” erm…. Like an S class or what? Bentley level peugeot already….
An S-class isn’t $100K. Try a Genesis.
Insane…. Peugeot is as premium as day is night….
@@garnray8568 I also worked in the automotive industry, but not for 23 years (kudos to you), I’ve also been to Germany with work to fix a bunch of showstoppers. But I have also been in the market and bought new cars and you are really wrong when saying Peugeot offers better value for money than any German car, considering current prices. One simple example: the audi a4. You can get, for what Peugeot is asking, a very decent Audi A4. I am saying this because Audi offers discount packages and slashes the price, while Peugeot gives you a couple of grands discount and that’s that. So sorry, but Peugeot is not worth it. And if you’re so familiar with Peugeot, how come you don’t recommend Citroen or DS as premium cars since they’re the more upmarket brands in PSA? Citroen’s 30% more expensive in terms of parts and service, yet you tell me that a 308 is worth €50k? Really? Then how much should DS be worth? Which actually have outstanding styling and interior materials? €70k? You know what, at the end of the day it’s your right to do it so please, as a German, go ahead and buy the 308 at €50k while I as a foreigner will buy your Audi A4 fully loaded for the same amount 👍
@@mirkozlikovski9553 I agree and the 508 indeed has been a more upmarket model. But it’s miles apart from the 308…. And if you look at the used market, the 508 loses most of it’s value, you can pay €35-40k new and end up selling used for €8-12k…. While an equivalent A4 will go for €18-22k…. Great for the used buyer, I guess.
We'll start from the start 😂
Lovely looking car and I’m sure 1.6T out of 408 would be nice however a green estate/wagon 1.2T just perfect 👌
I rather just get i30 N
Peugeot make much nicer cars than Hyundai ever has or will
HAHAHAHA!! 96KW!! ZOOM ZOOM!
why wouldn't 130 hp be enough for a car that weighs 1200+ kg?
@@mirkozlikovski9553 if u used that kind of logic, why human build turbo charged engine in the first place? why build engines with much higher horsepower when 'just enough' engine will do?
@@bearhood2004 why? because we can! and because on some odd occasions they serve the purpose, because they really are needed.....
but... what does all this have to do with the fact that 130 hp is simply enough for the normal, every day use of the car by the average user/owner?! I agree it's not enough to chase Nurburgring records, but that's hardly this car's purpose...
@@mirkozlikovski9553 bla bla bla....go on then buy the car $50+ with 96kw engine.
@@bearhood2004 no, thanks... I'm quite happy with my 2.0 l, 163 hp diesel 508 SW II... 😜
(but just to put into perspective.... it weighs almost 1.6 T and have rather similar power to weight ratio as this 130 hp 408)
Underpowered...no thx
Its not efficient if it needs 95 octane
I just bought a Mazda cx30 for my wife for $38K it has heaps more power than this crap and it has 2.5lt engine.
Yet has similar performance, heavier on fuel, less features and ancient design
@@wheresmycheese8511 ....and is completely different type of car
Ya cx30 only wishes it was as nice as this. This is much better looking and more refined. But I guess all you care about is power, like most Aussies.
