I drove it for 10 days, rented one in Italy in July, entry level has a 1.2l , 3 cylinders engine, but I have never, never felt for a single moment that the car was lacking in the power department. Great review, interesting to see you still get a full leather interior in Australia, they've moved away from those in Europe (animal free and recyclable interiors and all that) the top trim gets alcantara here. As for your power concerns, are you not getting the 180 and 225 hp phev variants in Australia? Those have a lot more spunk.

    Peugeot has come along way from the days of building shit cars. Even the last model 308 was a quality car. We owned one when we lived in London for a couple of years and had no issues. Those mentioning the lack of power need to drive one before commenting as power for the type of car is plenty. It's a much better car than VW Golf. In Europe Peugeot is a top seller of cars. Their 2008 is one of the best selling small SUV in Europe. Shame that in Australia we seem to judge based on little knowledge and the cars that Peugeot produced 20 years ago. The only downside is resale value. Shame as the 308 is a damn good car.

    I do not like it but Europe are focusing on electring and hybrids, what is probably why they are not giving more hp on the petrol engine. Do not get me wrong, it is a spunky engine, it is not a hot hatch but sure is spunky. Hybrid versions in Europe have 180 HP and 225 HP.

    Two incomprehensible mistakes in this car: the compromised ergonomics because of the dash lay-out that forces you to put your seat high up and the steering wheel low in order to be able to read you dails and the tiny 3 cyl engine clearly not capable to its task in slower stop and go city driving. This while peugeot has a perfect capable 1.6 4cyl engine at hand that probably doesn't cost more and is able to up the driving experience significantly.

    It isn't smooth a lower revs as it has a thrummy 3 pot. The boot is smaller and lacks the under engine bay tray that the previous 308 had. This motor can drink oil so I wouldn't be waiting 15,000 kms for an oil change unless you want to wreck the turbo. I should know, I've got one. I've seen 2 of these in the 3 years this model has been on sale. Aussies are over French cars.

    Reliability is still the major issue. I am from Malaysia. I am keeping Peugeot 308 1 6 THP P7 for closing to 14 years now. There will be no major issue but too many small issues. It always happened where it got problem again just back from workshop. Even though you may still can drive the car but error message is on and some parts need to be replaced.
    When I first saw this new Peugeot 308 III. It looked nice inside out. But the China cars set the standard, not European cars anymore. Peugeot 408 is launched recently here. 308 and 408 share the same interior design. When I sat in the car, it just could not compete with China car. I do not mention the NVH or reliability but purely on the design and the use of material.

  • @desild5869
    @desild5869 6 місяців тому

    The only positive way you'd buy this car is if
    1) you don't care about near-total money loss in a few short years
    and 2) you want something nobody else has (for very good reason).
    Otherwise, there's absolutely no reason to get a Peugeot. You can get a Golf, Leon, Octavia, Civic, Mazda3, i30 and quite a few others that are BETTER in every single way (inc. price vs. features for a few of those). But some people want to be quirky and that's how you end up with a Peugeot, a car that's synonymous with mediocre engines (even more lifeless than Japanese ones and at least the latter are reliable long term, which is NOT what PSA is known for), mediocre quality simply overall/everywhere and a bad value for money. But, hey! It looks like nothing else so you better like that a LOT.
