We have 1 petrol and 1 hybrid. Petrol is funday's and Sunday's Hybrid is every day, both do what they do well. Pure electric has a part to play in the future but only a small part. You are quite right Anna, diesel offers value and range, that also has a part to play. Love the emotion by the way!
Hello Anna, yes the diesel engine have a place in today's electric obsessed society! I have an Alfa Romeo GT diesel and I can drive 1000 km, it's total freedom.
Yes, diesel is still today the best option for people who do long distance drives every or most days and do not want to stop for an hour every 250 miles. My Volvo V90 is much better than every electric car for long distance driving and 650 miles range means refuelling every 2 days if driving constantly and once a week if not. Elecric cars are bollocks.
Average Joe doesn't need to drive 300+miles every day though. Gladly me neither. With an EV I never have to stop at a fueling station. I just plug it in daily, like my phone and smartwatch basically.
This is a nice car! I have two Alfa Stelvio’s on gasoline and I would have liked to have one with diesel engine (but they don’t do diesel)… But this little Peugeot is quite a nice car…
I'm not a fan of diesels, but I accept that they have their place. Also good to see an old fashioned small estate, still by far the best option for load space. Great review Anna.
Because I live and carry out my work in the country... 4×4, 2.0 petrol + LPG, everyday car, I go with it wherever I need. In addition, a 4×4 with rear permanent transmission is a pleasure to drive.
Beautiful car ! The interior looks real luxurious nice and neat ! 700 miles on a tank hum ! The indicator sound is real calm ! Ms. Anna my friend another real nice job ! Not for me though !
A great review Anna. Gorgeous interior to the 308. I feel the same about electric cars. I'm not against them at all (love the look of the MG4) but banning the alternatives simply means governments have lost the argument! When something has to be legally enforced, you know something is up. There's a lot of money being made somewhere in the system!
It's true - money is at the route of all this. Car manufacturers being able to sell a new car to almost everyone is part of it too. Control is also part of it - controlling how fast you can go, where/when you can drive, remote disabliing of the car, car-as-a-service etc. There's something much bigger going on here, and it's nothing to do with the climate.
Anna, your energy is fantastic. You are a brave woman who gets what she wants ;) I liked your brave summaries :) I share your mind. I have always loved driving cars. Last year I was visiting lots of car saloons here in Poland as i was looking for a new car for my family 2+3. I felt like something is being stolen from me. The Ford Galaxy cut off. The VW Sharan and Touran / Ahlambra cut off. The engines' sizes smaller and smaller. I am 43 and I had been driven with many petrol and diesel cars in my entire life. Looking a new car I was said the Peugeot is rolling back the 2.0 diesel engine. Finally I bough one of the last 5008 gt 2.0 diesel. No more available now. Right now I am expecting to get my new company car, the 308sw 1.5 diesel in the next two months. Probably they will be my last diesel cars to drive. In my opinion the politicians are crazy and the eco propaganda doesn't have nothing common with the reality. Mr Timermans I do not agree with you! Not this way :)
Thank you so much Damian :-) Yes, unfortunately engine sizes are being reduced and all roads lead to electric. So they want. But we are a long road ahead before this happens. I am a fanatic when it comes to matching the right car, owning a car which works for your needs and wants. You will be very happy with the 308 SW. I found this car to be such a gem.
Fabuleux review Anna. As I keep on saying I a sucker for estates cars especially when they got a sleek design and boy does the 308 SW look sleek. Absolutely stunning exterior design but I think it looks better in white with the black accents like the one you and your videographer did a reel/teaser on Instagram last year which was brilliant, and I have seen one in a metallic green which looks great. I'm really shocked that it was base model because that interior definitely a lot more than base model. But yes I agree I would try and get the model that I could get with any of my cars. Wow that boot space is massive and it was great how you shown it off especially with those nice red boots. I remember with my old 508SW RXH I had to help my Dad get some furniture for him and we couldn't fit any of the chairs in my car but we could fit them in my Dads Skoda Rapid. How bad was that???!!!! That brilliant MPG. All in all a great car. Answer to your pin comment for me it would be diesel at the moment but to be honest with you I go for the type of car more than whether what the powertrain the vehicle is. One of my friends really wants a hybrid but he not willing to spend too much money. I told him that the old hybrid are not as good as they tell you on AutoTrader but I said you need the newer hybrids or a diesel to get great MPG. He's now looking at a Lexus CT 200h. What do you think of them and are they good as they say they are in MPG? I think it's the first time I seen you not wearing any earrings but that ring on your right had stunning. Apologies for passing comment. I think you are right in saying what you said at the end about EV's, Hybrids and ICE's vehicles. Yes it's not a one think is suitable for everyone and nor should it. Well brilliant video as always. All the best Anna. :-)
Great video Anna. Estates drive better and are more spacious than SUVs and yes, let’s not blindly follow the sheep into EVs either. Bravo Anna, more ranting and more normal cars like this please 🥳
In my opinion hybrids with no turbo gasoline engines are best now 🙂 💪 Still have enough power for normal driving and fuel consuption is rather acceptable. Flowers for Anna: 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 And of course: 👍
I prefer any of the ICE engines over electric. I am not sold that electric vehicles are the answer to climate change, the know how to make the ICE engines more efficent and cleaner should be developed further where possible. Great informative review as always Anna.
Best rant ever ! . You are absolutely right, here in the UK the infrastructure is not adequately in place for electric cars and , as you said, having an EV simply means you end up having to do the work for the car. I really think we have been too quick to kill off diesel, the modern ones are very clean. Great work,as always, great review and look forward to the next one 👍👍
If i had an elctric car and i was in a que of 7 people waiting and it took 30 mins for each I'd have to wait 3.5hrs to charge my car. Yes we need diesel.
We need diesel, we need petrol and we also need electric and hydrogen. I am a fan of smart matching but I also know the pain of queuing and charging an electric. And it's not for everyone!
Snap - love my 308 GT diesel, though my 205 GTi 1.6 was just slightly better fun for pure chuck it around corners ability and legendary status. If only I hadn't;t sold her for £500 ... 😪
I'm a man of simple pleasures; therefore it doesn't take much to make my Sunday. Home-made spinach lasagna, nice red wine and some new Anna, and I'm good.
@@AnnaOnRoads Ciesze sie 🙂 Nowadays' diesels impress in terms of power-fuel efficiency combination. They made a really long way from weak-slow taxi choices to silent, environment friendly (yes!), huge-range cruisers. Electric cars are a dead-end, the energy consumed by them is and will be much higher than the diesel ones - due to the additional huge mass of a battery. Simple physics: energy equals half of mass x squared speed.
"Lemon" doesn't have a good connotation for a vehicle in the States. 🍋😆😁😂🤣 But regardless, glad to see you enjoying your French diesel-powered darling. And you of course are lovely--you are never anything less.
@@chrispenn715 We don't have many sheep around here. Some cows, some horses, sometimes a goat or two and sometimes roaming sheep herds. We have more deer and boar in our neck of the woods.
Electric and hybrid cars are simply too expensive to even consider and the return on investment doesn’t manifest in the lifetime of ownership. ICE is cleaner and more efficient than it used to be so the easier and more affordable option.
308 hatchback with 1.5l diesel is disappointing enough but to have the estate 308 with same engine is poor in my book. Putting small engines in big cars is rarely a good idea.
I think it comes down to what you are used to and expectations. Sadly, diesels are disappearing and/or reducing in size. Really a shame as the French are very good with diesels. Used to be the very best!
I'm driving a 508 SW 2.0 BlueHDi 160 with a torque of 400 Nm - the car is so silent and powerfull, 4,5L/100km is very well possible, I'm 62 now, it's the best car I've driven in my life
Our family has owned Peugeots for over 50 years. (except for 1998-2004 or thereabouts). Reliability is one of their positive fearures. You just can't kill them. They did lose the plot in the late 90's early 2000's .
Hmmm, very little substance in this review, just unvalidated personal viewpoints. Injecting some researched subjectivity would help. Good luck with the channel.
I'd have to disagree - unlike most men reviewers Anna talks about aspects while driving. SHE LEAVES MOST MALE REVIEWERS FOR DEAD. i DON'T ALWAYS AGREE WITH HER VIEWPOINTS BUT THAT'S IRRELEVANT. One of the points of this review is to discuss the place of diesel engines in a changing environment. Well done.
Which set-up is you - diesel, petrol, hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric? And WHY?
Petrol and nothing else.
Simple no more fossil. Because its poisonous. Because it kills out children. And no more children equals no more people.
