It was ok, 3 adults with coolers and fishing gear, we were probably near 18-20mph if i had to guess. getting a new prop in a few days, same factory prop, but with out all the nicks and dings. i'll reply again after we take it for a spin.
yea, I replaced it with the same factory prop, but no noticeable difference in performance. We were at Sea Rim State park and having my wife and my two kids on board is almost like having 3 adults and i thought it handled fine.
+josh33025 I've been happy with mine. Of course it didn't take long to wish i had another 30k to buy a bigger boat. :) when it's just me and the kids, it's a good size.
Still enjoying the boat? Wondering if these are low maintenance? I know boats can be a handful on the pocket book but I feel these would be low maintenance and just wanted t to see what I'm getting into before I get one
I haven't given it a lot of thought yet, but I saw these on EBay... www.ebay.com/itm/Gunnel-Track-Tracker-Versatrack-Lund-Sport-Trak-Downrigger-Bracket-/251544515314?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a9138b2f2
I think it's pretty good. i don't have any real complaints. I mean, I pack a rain coat so if the wind is blowing really hard or it's coming from our side, I have some protection. We mostly run where it's shallow in the bays so we don't get a lot of chop and i only take it outside of the protected areas when it's flat and the the Gulf waters look like glass, otherwise, i wouldn't take it out of the cut.
When i had 3 adults, i thought it felt sluggish and bogged down. come to think of it, we could have distributed the weight a little better by putting the lighter guy up front instead of the back with me. When it's just me and the kids, both around 75lbs each, it's not a problem.
Update: went out the other day with just me and my 10 yr old son. loaded with typical fishing gear with ice cooler, etc.. we were averaging 20-21mph, according to my Iphone speedometer app. Now, my prop is a little beat up from hitting a few oyster reefs so that probably has a little to do with it, but otherwise we were doing OK.
Well, it's my first boat and so far I don't have any complaints about it's handling. It seems pretty dry and stable. I bought it from Bass Pro Shops in Pearland, TX. I'm glad I went with this ModV design. I spent many hours researching jon boats and motors and trying to figure out how a 20hp motor would look like pushing a 16' boat, so here's my way of giving back by adding my own video. I'll upload another one when we go out again. Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer what I can. Also, I had BPS install a swing tongue so I could fit it in my garage. It measures exactly 18'4" from motor to tongue. I really like the electric tilt/trim on the motor. I couldn't imagine not having it. Oh, and 1/4" carriage bolts is what works with their versatrack system. You can add a lot of accessories by using these bolts. Stainless steel carriage blots, washers and wing nuts all from Lowes for a few dollars.
That's awesome man I'm glad to hear the 20hp pushes the 16ft fine I was worried the 25 wouldn't push the 14ft that well but this video proves me wrong! Enjoy the boat bud hope she provides many years of fun on the water I'll be looking forward to more videos once it gets warm out!
What size prop?
What was the prop pitch
here's the OEM prop Part # 48-897752A11 Blkmax 9.25 X 10
Jose de Carlos did you ever have 3 adults on the boat and what kind of speed did you get thank you

did you get out to see if the new props faster

That’s impressive for a 20hp, believe that boat weighs in at over 600lbs.
Any modifications needed to the transom? I see alot of videos with people with a plate bolted on to raise outboard . Thanks!!
Not on mine.
@@salmakayak Awesome and you have a long shaft motor? Thanks a bunch for the info!
@@RamblinRoverMatt yea, that's a long shaft
@@salmakayak Thats what she said! lol sorry... Thank you so much for all the info!
@@RamblinRoverMatt lol
I've been spending all morning researching and I think I'm going with the 1648. Probably gonna leave soon to the bass pro in Virginia to get it.

+Geritgoul I use it in salt water, so when I get home I just spray it down and flush the motor by attaching a garden hose to it.
Any leaking problem with the boat?
+Jeffrey Ack Leaking. No. (-zoom)
i want to get the 20 ft version of it and based on this video and how your boat preformed loaded i think it will be worth the money
I'll try to get another video posted soon.
Considering purchasing this boat....do you plan to install a fish finder...if so where do you plan to mount the device?
I haven't given it a lot of thought yet, but I saw these on EBay...

How's the mod v on choppy water?

Thanks! I looked at one yesterday and I just like it
How is that motor holding up?
How fast does that 20 push it? Im thinking of upgrading my boat to this one and want to make sure my 25 Yamaha will push it fast enough
WarrenBoysOutdoors Fully loaded with the wife and kids we're doing about 20mph. If it's just me and my son, we're right at 25.
howdy, how does it feel with 3 people? 2 adults and a child if youve come across that scenario? and how much does she slide?

Have any more videos with this boat?
+luke Sendal My wife just bought a selfie stick. I was planning on taking it with us next time.
Love the video! hope to become an owner of one of these new grizzlys soon! how do you like it so far?
