THanks Seyyer. To be honest I prefer the wide side door like my bug-out bike camper. It gives you more storage room and makes for a great rain and sun shelter.
I’ve been keeping up with your work for years now, especially your shelters since I’ve been homeless on and off for years. This is beautiful. Really incredible work, as always.
I want to say thank you for posting these. I am currently on a journey to make a bike camper myself because I am about to be homeless again and I just started a new job that I really like (now have 2 jobs). You gave me the inspiration and motivation to not give up
Wow God Bless you how come no one sees how much this can help the world. So many people are homeless in 2020 suffering out in the cold. Especially when Texas went through that freeze this would have been better than out in the elements.
While bicycle touring I have thought a lot about a trailer/camper. My idea was a foldable one. But at the end I decided it was easier to buy a new tent, smaller and lighter than the one I had before. I still need to walk and push the bicycle when going up a steep hill (but that's probably because I'm an old woman).
Love the design. I am currently working on a 7'x3'x3' bike camper myself. I opted for 2x4s, the base is the whole 2x4s and the cabin frame I split the 2x4s down the middle to make it more lightweight (couldn't find any 2x2s). I designed mine off the capsule rooms you see in parts of Asia (Japan is famous for them). the nose is a separate area and will have a clamshell hatch that acts as both a canopy and gives me access to stowage, a shelf and all that. Acts like a little galley. You were actually inspiration for me to do it. I spent years living depressed and anxious while just existing in the background of other people's lives and decided I needed to do something. So I decided I will be going on the road, documenting it and improving the design as I go. Thanks for the wonderful videos!
Vote for Paul as master maker of the year! I would recommend 5-minute epoxy for attaching the bamboo into the floor holes, it will outlast the wood itself and not weaken the bamboo by splitting it. Love the little stove, quite ingenuous. If you epoxy a little sheet of steel onto the back of the little drawers and a disk magnet onto the drawer holder, it will prevent opening while traveling. Personally, I would have used plastic coated wire to tie the bamboo pieces together as they can be twisted tighter (carefully) while making sure the ends are curled to prevent scratches. Another fantastic job, Paul!

He had used a thin sheet of clear plastic over the whole structure and was pretty much living in it. Honestly for what he had invested it turned out fairly nice. It got me to thinking and wondering how so many folks can end up with no sort of shelter with so many different ways to make a simple thatched hut as such that would be livable. He told me he'd been living there for about a year and a half at that time and hadn't been made to leave as he wasn't a bother to anyone. Really cool guy with alot of great ideas like that one

Always love your designs! I actually used the idea of a drop floor design when building a mobile sauna/car camper for a friend who is 6’ 7” tall. The floor has two long doors that open up, behind the axle, giving him full standing height head room to shower inside and change clothes and prep food without having to make the camper too tall for road driving. Worked great! So I always credit you in that design implementation. Many thanks! It was a blast to make and super satisfying design that I’ve never seen anywhere else in a camper. I love your canopy idea, gives me an idea on how to make a cheap canopy for my homeless funky wagon. Made from an old door (for the floor) and a couple of (whatever) wheels available, like from an old mower or golf buggy. As long as you can move it. And it would have a "mattress" over the door-floor (made from anything paddy). And make the canopy like your bike camper canopy with bamboo and old sheets or even garden plastic. You are so creative!!! I love to see your work!!! I bought a riding lawn mower & took all the stuff off that mowed. Now it is a small tractor. But at 77yrs itbis Very hot not having a covering so I don't get sick from being in the sun so long. I live in the high desert of So. Cal just out side of Palmdale. I think it might work if I cut some long branches of the Maskit, don't know the spelling. Then tie them over head. Then cover them with canvas. I have the canvas. I was surprised to see you had something Similar! Yours is more elaborate!
What a practical, novel idea. And fascinating in concept. A tractor out of an old lawnmower. Must be one of those big acreage sort of lawnmowers. All you need for shade is an umbrella. ...a square one. You can buy them, I've seen but I'm sure there must be a few floating about on dumps or unused in someone's garage.
No? Not a big lawn mower. I just had someone remove the blade and guard that covers the blade. I got the idea from a true story movie called The Straight Story. It is about a man who had Not spoken to his brother for 10 yrs He received a phone call one night saying his brother had a bad stroke. It made him think, he could of lost his brother. He decided he had to go make up with him but how. His eyes were Bad so he lost his license. His hips were bad he was 73yrs. So he got out his riding lawnmower & made a trailer to sleep in at night and drove from Larens to Mt. Soni, sorry can't remember The spelling. They made up. But the travel there was interesting.
Great video! Another 2 years of Covid and half the US population will be living in these. Instead of zipties you might try strips cut from soda bottles, which shrink when you heat them with a heatgun or a match (carefully). That way you could tighten them with a little heat as needed.
lndeed! I tried using pop bottle sting on my test shelter, then didn't like the 'plastic' aspect so used Jute. After massive blisters tying the sticks together I opted for the zip ties on the camper. Someone suggested the plastic coated gardeners wire. These can be re-adjusted after the bamboo shrinks. Still some plastic involved but I like that idea best.
@@paulwelkinsdiy why not wire coat-hangers..the old ones from the dry cleaners. I keep thinking they could be used for such a lot but what? I'd like to rig up a type of protective tunnel for a balcony vegetable garden in Winter but I hate plastic folie.( Glad-wrap!)

super cool Paul, well done. Thinking that if the wall were double it would actually also be pretty well insulated and not that much heavier. It's quite pretty and well organized however, appreciated :)
Excellent build, usefully functional. A guy I knew when I was wandering made a Airstream trailer, don't have to worry about malicious cutting with a metal skin.
Immediately liked and subscribed! I have to say, as someone who suffered through unstable living arrangements, I would have loved this. I will start making some design plans and source some native supplies! I love using bamboo and I can make some near perfect corners with bamboo using triangular cuts and a heat gun! I have so much respect and love for Paul, you are humble , innovative and intelligent man. Keep on sharing your brilliant/beautiful ideas and prayers are going up for you and your family♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
That was sweet Kay. Thank you!
The chimney design is genius, glad you can cook inside without the smoke.
This camper is much roomier than the one you did with Coroplast for Burning Man. I'd bet it weighs less, too.
As always; Charming, intelligent and interesting choise of material! Keeps me dreaming of building my own camper! I especially liked the stove and chimney on this one!
AWESOME as always.... Have lots of bamboo ... plants where I live now !! What an idea...!! I'm still in love with the little shelter you made out of 'voting' signs........ ( should be 'plenty' of them...now !!! ) Keep on....'creating'...God Bless.!!
I am so glad to see you putting out a video once more! I personally have been hopeful that you were doing well and if you would ever grace the world with your beautiful mind, big heart and enchanting soul! I am so glad I found you for the 1st time all this year ago🤗Thank you for such an amazing gift Hopefully you’ll come back soon as I will be Miss you’re presence in the land of UA-cam but till then 🖖🏻✌🏼🤙🏻
Your creations continue to inspire me. This is yet another home run!
Hi Paul. I love all the things you do. I hope I will do something soon, maybe a camper and a bi or tricycle. Thanks, you're an inspiration. Best regards from Aregua, Paraguay.
That’s amazing Paul. I love watching your videos. Very inspirational. Could you please do a separate detailed video of the stove build, materials required, etc..? Thanks . All the best 🙏
Boy am i a fan of this guy.
I was surprised to see you had something
Similar!
It is about a man who had
Not spoken to his brother for 10 yrs
He received a phone call one night saying his brother had a bad stroke. It made him think, he could of lost his brother. He decided he had to go make up with him but how. His eyes were
Bad so he lost his license. His hips were bad he was 73yrs. So he got out his riding lawnmower & made a trailer to sleep in at night and drove from Larens to Mt. Soni, sorry can't remember
The spelling.
C'est génial merci beaucoup pour toutes vos idées. Vive la simplicité ❤
I love that little stove. You are very creative.
I love this video. That is a very cool camper. This video makes me want to create something. I love camping. I think that would be very useful for many different scenarios ; like going on a bicycle trip and camping along the way.
Thank you for this video .
You are the best self made bike camper maker. I love your ideas but your nomad bike camper is by far the best...I think you deserve more subscribers tho.
super cool Paul, well done.
Love it. Still the You Tube Master that everyone else is inspired by. Best wishes Paul
Thanks Martin! Glad you're enjoying the ride.
I always see you Paul, you're a genius man.
From Paraná Entre Ríos Argentina 🇦🇷 greetings
I'm subscribed
Paul, you've done it again!!!
Immediately liked and subscribed! I have to say, as someone who suffered through unstable living arrangements, I would have loved this. I will start making some design plans and source some native supplies! I love using bamboo and I can make some near perfect corners with bamboo using triangular cuts and a heat gun! Thank you for your video and i cant wait for more!
Really great! I’ve got the bike, the bamboo and now the inspiration! Thanks
Hey Paul, great video. Just wanted to say your videos have been inspiring me since high school. Thanks!
I love it!!! You sure think outside the box.
this is sooooo great, thankyou for showing us this beautiful invention!
I really enjoyed this video and you explained it to where even me I could understand how to build. Very interesting
This is really neat! Nice job. This would be an awesome homeless shelter. People can carry it around where they go and have comfort and security.
This is so great! Bamboo is my favorite and I also plan to use it! Thanks so much for sharing ❤️
Wow cute I really salute to you sir you make me inspire cuz I don't have house to but now I have a job as a helper of korean
Excellent job..always wondered why bamboo isn't used but am a firm believer in it for being light weight and strenghth...
Great job Paul can't wait to get out on the road and do some camping!!!
What a lovely little travelers wagon. Great design!
Thanks Paul, Successes and congratulaciones..! Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
No one else told me about bamboo. I like it. He could feed the bamboo thru the longitudinal hole in colorful foam noodles found also at $Tree. My rig is coming together. I have a 3x3 two wheel cart with improved tires and a 750 ebike.
May have to find a way to turn this into a Boyscouts project. Great work.
Because of covid and all the abuse of the Scout leaders they shut it down
@@thegrudge6495 abuse of the scout leaders?????
@@marylynndontchangename3461 yeah there was a class-action lawsuit against the Boy Scouts because of what a lot of leaders did the kids it was in the news
I thought it is now the scouts 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@kiwisen yeah, you can't trust what you read theses days on account of the fake news. All topsy truvey.
