That's neat that your posting comments at 80 + yrs old - I'm 68 and my son's tell me I'm to old to be in the woods cutting wood and hauling it in the truck home and splitting it with an axe - I hope at 80 I'm still cutting wood and burning it for heat and hot water -

And I would put in a carbon monoxide detector, though the bike trailer probably isn't totally air-tight. But other than that, done safely, the wood stove is great!

At bedtime our parents came to the bedside of each of us one at a time and we said our night time prayer kneeling by the bed. I neglected to maintain these important traditions with my own children. When my son, my dear, late wife, and I were vacationing in Minnesota many years ago, we made a point to visit the Mississippi headwaters. Seeing the lake/marsh become such a tiny stream was cool, as we'd seen the delta end dump into the Gulf of Mexico, and various points in between. Made a point of wading across the Mississippi, which was about a foot deep then and there. Love how peaceful these videos are.

My family use to camp all summer. A tent the first two years and then a small trailer for two years. My Dad traveled back and forth on weekends then took his two week vacation. Such great memories, fishing, hiking, board games. If you can, take your kids camping. I will always love the time we spent during our camping summers.

When Hank Williams Jr recorded his song, A Country Boy Can Survive, he started it with, "The preacher man says it's the end of time and the Mississippi River she's a going dry" and I couldn't picture how that could possibly happen. But here we are. Hank was just 30 years or so ahead of his time. It's amazing that what you showed us is the "Mighty Mississippi". I think that "humble beginning" is actually a lot more humble than it was a few years ago.

I've been to the Mississippi River around the Guttenberg iowa area. It's beautiful. I'm from fort dodge iowa so it was an easy drive east on highway 20. It's been a few years since I've been to the river and I can't wait to get back there.

I'm sure that's the happiest doggie in the world. He gets to roam free in nature and runs next to his master's bike for exercise. He can dig anywhere without being reprimanded. At night he has a warm, cozy fireplace to curl up to.

Very relaxing video I had to watch it all ! The thought of being right up there where the Mississippi starts is so cool I lived down in Iowa next to the Mississippi and I always loved being around that river it was always fun as a kid to go fishing in the river !
Nice trip. The head of the Mississippi reminds me of my neck of the woods where we have the head of the Hudson River at Henderson lake in the Adirondacks. Of course Hudson River is only 400 miles to New York City harbor.

My family use to camp all summer. A tent the first two years and then a small trailer for two years. My Dad traveled back and forth on weekends then took his two week vacation. Such great memories, fishing, hiking, board games. If you can, take your kids camping. I will always love the time we spent during our camping summers.

But here we are. Hank was just 30 years or so ahead of his time. It's amazing that what you showed us is the "Mighty Mississippi". I think that "humble beginning" is actually a lot more humble than it was a few years ago.
I too liked the prayer, and also love reading how many people commented on that. God is in more and more hearts in 2024 where he needs to be.
We live in Moorhead, MN and camp at Itasca state park every year. We love the kayaking and boating there. So beautiful. Love your set up. Thanks for the video

I've been to the Mississippi River around the Guttenberg iowa area. It's beautiful. I'm from fort dodge iowa so it was an easy drive east on highway 20. It's been a few years since I've been to the river and I can't wait to get back there.

Very relaxing video I had to watch it all ! The thought of being right up there where the Mississippi starts is so cool I lived down in Iowa next to the Mississippi and I always loved being around that river it was always fun as a kid to go fishing in the river !

Nice trip. The head of the Mississippi reminds me of my neck of the woods where we have the head of the Hudson River at Henderson lake in the Adirondacks. Of course Hudson River is only 400 miles to New York City harbor.
