I've spent the LAST 3 MONTHS with the 2024 Kia Sportage, and I have A LOT of thoughts about this super-popular mid-size family SUV! It has its good, it's bad - but also some things you definitely want to avoid if you buy a 2024 Kia Sportage! In today's long-term review, we'll cover everything I have loved and things I've grown to dislike over my long term testing. Let's review this thing!

great video! I would love to know more about the 2024 hybrid models vs the others if you can make that video :)
Never had an issue with my Sportage. Best car I’ve ever had.
What yeaR?
It all good 👍👊🍻
That was an excellent review. 👍
Thanks for the awesome review, I traded in my Cerato GT on a MY24 Sportage GT-Line Diesel, had it for 3 weeks so far and absolutely love it, so much better to drive than the Cerato GT. I also found the bass to be lacking but turned it up to 10 and I think it's got more than enough Bass now, Can't complain tbh sounds way better than the JBL.
We have the SX diesel for a year now! The fuel consumption is fantastic! 6.1L over the long term
No diesel in the US and base 2.5l gasoline engine is thirsty.
Parked next to a white base model yesterday and it looked nice.
I recently got a 24 Sportage EX. I'm pretty happy with it. I chose it for its simplicity (AKA.. less stuff to break). I didn't want a Turbo, power liftgate, sunroof, etc. I really do wish i had memory seats though. So far, it runs great... however, it only has less than 1000 miles on it.
It freaked me out watching your video and seeing people driving on the 'wrong side' of the road and the steering wheel on the 'wrong side' of the car.
I have 2 Kia's, a Soul and a Seltos. Both run great with few issues. The Soul has over 170,000 miles on it.
Awesome cars!
I had a 2021 Seltos SX lease and loved it. It was my favorite vehicle I have ever owned or leased. Currently leasing a Hyundai Tucson which is another big hit!
we are considering Sportage 1.6 T-GDi HEV 4WD A6 in that 30th anniversary edition AGAINST .... Honda ZR-V in Advanced edition and I really cant tell which one, pricing here is pretty much the same. we are family of 3. What do you think?
Just bought the 2024 Sportage and after bringing home noticed the rear seat carpet is too big. The middle has 3 inches of space between it and the hump. This seems to be a common issue.
I have the Cerato GT and I got to say the sound system does sound very tinny as well
Might change my Golf and fancy this for a change.
Is the DCT jerking on the new models?
I'd buy the base model and learn to live with it.
I have had the HEV trim 3 since March 2023. After 3 months the passenger front seat had faded in one area so I took it back to Kia. They said this is fair wear and will not do anything about it. So Be aware. It may have a 7 year warranty but not on the seats as they last less than 3 months.
How many cold steering wheels have you encountered?
Which engine is really bad? Sorry if it's a silly question but I am just starting my research.
You mention price point and european competitors, try to get euro equivalent with all these feauters for similar price #1, then pay similar service costs #2. Kia wins in a lot of points, and it's superb quality.
The biggest problem is the steering wheel on the right side, because then you have to operate the touchscreen with your left hand and that would kill me 😀
I got a feeling this should get the 8 speed like the seltos 1.6t has now. My bet it will be introduced once the hybrid lands.
The mild and full hybrids have been available in Europe and Korea for quite some time. The mild hybrid has the 7-speed DCT, and the full hybrids (both regular and plug-in) have 6-speed automatics. 8-speed only seems available with the 186 horsepower diesel, with Europe only having the 136 hp diesel with the same 7-speed DCT as the mild hybrid petrol version.
I suggest you make a google doc of the data from the test car, such as noise levels etc just like carexpert. In a year this will be a moat for your videos.
Have PD2 I30 SR with the 1.6t 7sp dct. Bought it new, Full Hyundai service history & meticulously maintained. It’s only got 66k & now on it’s second engine & transmission, As well as a big list of everything else that's gone wrong with it. Once it reached the near 5 year mark it just went downhill. Hyundai have been very good with replacing anything that's gone wrong, But I'm still disappointed. Its now out of warranty & I'm seriously considering trading it. Just problem after problem.
Didn't know Luka Doncic reviewed cars haha... Great review though, helped me with my decision in buying this car
In Europe taxes are much higher, a GT Line petrol Hybrid will set you back 50k euros and thats 2wd still, not awd. Plugin hybrid model is anothsr 5k on top of that if you want to play with a power cord. Short wheel base version over here, but rest is the same, drove the long wheelbase on holiday, really no difference. Agree on wireless Android and Apple, that should have been implemented from the start. Consumption is around 7 ltr/100 km so not great for a hybrid, its heavy, but not underpowered. We get different powertrains, they are sufficient enough over here. Annoying things are all the beeps and the sound system (not premium in my opinion), rest is just great, love fhe car so far.
50k??? Which country? I ordered mine at 36,5K. Premium FHEV AWD A/T. The GT Line starts at 38,5K here…
Have no regrets buying my Mazda CX-5. Happy people sees why Mazda has the nob for the infotainment system…ergonomics.
I'm a fan.
Two things though.
I'm still like the 2023 shape, especially the C-pillar part.
I never understand why Kia doesn't fit all-wheel-drive option on this vehicle , I mean... 🤷♂️
Where is Jacob??
I absolutely loved this review - thanks so much! Long-term liveability is something you just don't get a handle on on test drives...
I am considering the GT Line Hybrid powertrain, which was notably absent from your review (not even a mention of it in when running through the engine options, which was kinda weird :) ) What are you thoughts on it ?
Maybe because it's not even in Australia yet??
@@shayne4288 ah fair enough - that'll be why then.. 😁
There is no hybrids in Australia. we have a diesel instead
@@maxd4968 SVM in Sydney is taking orders for Sportage Hybrids supposedly due for delivery early 2024. Hopefully that's not bullcrap, or I'll be very upset ... :(
@@Binaryfarto I mean first I’ve heard of this and it’s not on there website 😬
As you say that it's tough to hit the buttons on the control screens, I think that's also the due to the fact that you guys have to use your left hand to do al that stuff as more and more functions get controlled by touchscreen in the center console.
The rest of the world that drives on the right (right) side of the road does not have the same issue. I suppose that in your case someone who is lefthanded will have much less problems.
Have you driven any Tesla? That must be even harder on righthand steering cars cause al of the functions have to be controlled with your left hand.
This makes no sense. Do your left hands not function in your country?
@@kobebenedicto9715 short answer: For 90% of all people, not as good as the right hand does.
@@corbinangelo3359 Wow, it's amazing that all those people can still drive. If they can't use their left hand on a touch screen how are they then relying on their left hand to STEER the wheel. Crazy thought. You must crash a lot champ.
Rear seat floor mat is too big and doesn't properly fit.
Nearly bought one, absolutely hated the 1.6 turbo and weren’t interested in a diesel cause it’s not going to leave the city much. We bought a forester 2.5S instead and love it.
Yeah the 1.6 Turbo is not the greatest drivetrain 😬
This mirrors my buying experience! Strongly considering a diesel Sportage but ended up with a Fozzy Sport.
@@aerienix Haha we didn’t buy the sport cause the orange was a bit to much for us. Ours is actually replacing a 07 fozzie 2.5x manual and it’s a pretty nice upgrade although we still wish the new one was manual too
Where's Jacob?!
He's not in every vid :)
@@samyol4058 well he should be!! The Dynamic Duo 😁

Really don't want this to be insulting even though it probably will be depending on your humor but how are you gonna sound at 90 if you already do sound as if you are 90? I'd pay to see the result.
Oh and yes.. Nice review 😅
I thought he sound like he was 12.
I just can't get used to the way it looks both outside and inside. Definitely not one I could learn to love.
Let me guess, you're over 40, right 😀
@@davidmarsalek5337 I am. The good news is you don't have to be over 40 to have good taste, it just helps, lol.
I'm 53, and I think that the new Sportage is gorgeous. So much so that I bought one last week. @@davidmarsalek5337
Diesel dpf save the planet, drive more so dpf does not clog, idiocracy
So KIA and HYUNDAI are dropping the best engine. Heading for MAZDA to upgrade KIA SORENTO Diesel.
Which engine are you pointing at? The hybrid and plug-in hybrid are available elsewhere and will probably be introduced this year in Australia as well. And you guys get the 186 hp diesel, whereas here in Europe we're limited to the 136 hp one.
KIA and HYUNDAI have dropped the DIESEL.@@macvos
The first 2 minutes is just watch this video talk... Comon bro.. do better
Warranty is rubbish. Ask many KIA and Hyundai owners who have had claims refused due to poor servicing at so called main dealer garages. Avoid KIA and Hyundai cars.
In 2016 I bought a brand new Kia Sportage diesel. I loved it and owned it for 7 years without a problem. This year (2023) I bought another brand new Sportage.
Big disappointment!
The new 8 speed automatic is very bad. It ums and aahs and fumbles around.
It is a few inches longer. Great. But the turning circle has gone from very good to very very bad. There probably are trucks and buses with smaller turning circles. Even pulling into carparks at shopping centres is problematic.
After four months of ownership, I sold it to a dealer and I have bought a VW Tiguan R. I know it is much more expensive than the Sportage, but it is way, way better!
Kia Sportage 2023 turning circle 10.92M kerb to kerb. VW Tiguan R turning circle 11.97m kerb to kerb.
There is nothing wrong with the gearbox, we've found it to be smooth, predictable and an absolute pleasure to use. I think you're an archetypal Volkswanker.
This is a very poor review. Far too much about you.
Creep
Awfull annoying bloke
its sport-I-ge, not sport-A-ge brother...at least here in the states
Somehow, they pronounce it differently per country, even countries having the same language. Don't know why they do it, but here in the Netherlands it's pronounced 'Sportidge', like in the US, but I've heard British, Australian and also other sales people and reviewers pronounce it 'Sport-aah-ge'.
Honestly, why do you even care how they pronounce it..?
Ahh yes from the same country that can’t pronounce words like aluminium
Im not judging i think it sounds nice how he says it
What a boring review.
Overpriced junk just buy a Toyota.
Good idea… you will be riding your bike for the first 2 years before delivery.
The rav 4 is more tho
I had a 2022 RAV4 and it got stolen through its headlamp. Just bought a 2023 Sportage to replace 2 weeks ago. That’s now sitting in the dealership because the electrics failed. All these modern cars are a joke.
On my second sporty, the new '23 model is even better than the '19 model upgraded from. Got the gts line awd hev. 44-46mpg all day. Had the last one (same spec) for 3 years and 8 months and 38000 miles.. Only needed tyres in that time.
@@richwhilecooper Sounds like I’m just unlucky. Mine is the 23 PHEV and it’s spent more time in the garage than on my drive. It’s really problematic. The steering cluster will just switch off when driving. Dangerous too!
Couldn't watch the whole video, I find Kia's SO boring. Sorry!
Dusty screen pro-tip - clean them
